JOAN MIRÓ Maravillas con Variaciones Acrósticas, 1975
Published in Barcelona by Ediciones Polígrafa in 1975, Maravillas con variaciones acrósticas en el jardín de Miró is a collaborative artist’s book pairing poems by Rafael Alberti with twenty original colour lithographs by Joan Miró. Alberti dedicated the poems to Miró, whose images do not illustrate the texts but translate their language into a visual vocabulary of signs, gestures and abstract forms. The series combines two approaches: expressive, calligraphic marks and compositions populated by Miró’s floating figures, stars and circles. The following 13 works represent the latter approach, exemplifying the distinctive visual language that characterised Miró’s later career.
