Time Waits For No One

By Rahasya Poe & Dhara Lemos

This year I will be 74 years old and my wife, Dhara, recently went through some serious heart procedures. This has put us in a position to ask some difficult questions about our lives and how we want to spend our remaining years. The Lotus Guide is our “child” and as such we feel a responsibility to pass it on to someone who is well-intentioned and thoughtful. Writing this article comes with mixed feelings, an excitement to live our lives and possibly start something new, and the apprehension that any parent would feel sending their child out into the world. For the past 18 years the Lotus Guide has given us an abundant life and connections with the communities in northern California that are priceless. We have done well financially, but the true wealth has come from the support of our advertisers who are always there if we need assistance with our health and wellbeing. So many wonderful people, some of whom are gone now like Donald Payne at S&S Produce, and all the consistent advertisers who have supported the Lotus Guide through the 2008 financial crisis, the Paradise Fire, the COVID Pandemic scare and the Dixie Fire, all of which would have made most publications part of history. We are entering a time when awareness of free press and free speech is coming to the forefront and as such, alternative media will lead the way to a social transition unlike anything in history. Most of us are waking up because the writing is on the wall, humanity is coming into adulthood and wanting to be responsible for their health on every level, spiritual, physical, emotional and mental. If I were younger, I wouldn’t even consider passing the baton on to a younger person or couple because the momentum and foundation we have set is made for this transitional time we find ourselves in. The Lotus Guide website has an intense amount of wellorganized health information, everyone from Mt Shasta down to Grass Valley and Nevada City refers and depends on fresh up to date health information they find in the Lotus Guide. Our magazine can be read online and we have over 9,000 residents on our Community Email list. So…we’re in no hurry and would not think of letting just anyone take it over. Yet we are old enough to know that “Time Waits For No One” so we’re putting this out there to see what kind of interest it may kindle in the hearts and minds of the community we love so deeply.
