Waikato  District  Council  water  &  facilities  general  manager  Richard  Bax  told  the  Chronicle  monitoring  of  waterways  was  the  regional  councilâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s  responsibility. area,  with  lower  than  average  fees,  and  up  to  now  it  has  been  possible  to  make  arrangements  with  patients  so  that  no  one  has  gone  without  treatment.

Kevin  said  the  budget  increases  in  prescription  charges  would  worsen  the  problem.  â&#x20AC;&#x153;In  Raglan  take  up  of  prescriptions  has  in  the  past  been  delayed.â&#x20AC;?

Another  change  in  the  budget  affected  the  elderly.  Labour  and  the  Greens  had  supported  moving  to  end  means  tests  for  rest  home  care.  The  budget  had  frozen  that  change.

Weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re  also  pleased  to  say  that  weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;ve  replaced  our  old  shed  with  a  brand-­new,  2nd  hand,  shipping  container.  The  old  shed  wasnâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;t  much  bigger  than  a  phone  box  so  weâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;re  very  happy  with  the  extra  space.  Thanks  to  Raglan  Kopua  Campground  for  donating  paint  to  tidy  it  up  and  to  WTC  5RRÂżQJ IRU VRUWLQJ RXW WKH many  leaks  in  the  roof.

Thanks  to  Joâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s  Takeaway   going  on  holiday  recently,  we  held  a  fundraiser  while  they  were  gone  and  fed  players,  parents,  various  passersby  and  also  a  lady  who  turned  up  looking  for  food  for  a  bunch  of  blokes  on  a  working  bee.  We  are  planning  to  have  another  sausage  sizzle  and  baking Â

fundraiser  on  June  30th  so  please  bring  your  spare  change  down  to  Kopua  and  watch  a  bit  of  soccer.  And  thanks  as  always  to  Jo  for  her  continued  sponsorship  of  our  player-­of-­ the-­day  awards.

If  any  children  are  still  keen  to  play  soccer  this  winter,  we  currently  have  space  in  our  8th  grade  teams.    Thatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s  primarily  for  children  who  turn  8  in  2012  but  girls  who  turn  9  are  also  eligible  and  we  may  be  able  to  WDNH FKLOGUHQ ZKR WXUQ LQWR those  teams  as  well.

Practicing  weekly  in  Hamilton  and  catching  up  from  time  to  time  here  with  Raglan  coach  Terry  Green,  Ashleigh  has  discovered  thereâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s  a  lot  more  skill  involved  in  pushing  a  bowl  down  to  a  little  white  ball. Âł6RPHWLPHV , GRXEW P\VHOI DQG P\ FRQÂżGHQFH VOLSV Thatâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s  when  my  bowls  can  go  wonkly-­doodly.   Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m  learning  to  believe  in  myself  and  it  makes  a  big  difference  to  my  bowling.   Iâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;m  working  on  my  feet  position  so  I  can  get  the  green  right.â&#x20AC;?

A  recent  highlight  for  Ashleigh  was  when  she  attended  Bowls  Waikatoâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s  prize-­giving  night  where  she  received  her  Waikato  shirt  and Â

said  a  few  words  to  the  bowlers  and  dignitaries  gathered. â&#x20AC;&#x153;My  Dad  said  if  I  went  to  the  prize-­giving  I  had  to  speak,  so  I  did.   It  was  a  really  good  night.â&#x20AC;?

At  the  end  of  the  term  it  was  time  to  have  some  fun  with  an  LQĂ&#x20AC;DWDEOH ERDW LQ WKH SRRO DQG D BBQ  for  all  to  enjoy.

With  the  Swimming  Club  up  and  running  we  started  to  teach  pre-­schoolers;Íž   lessons  became  full  in  the  Christmas  Holiday  programme.  We  were  not  expecting  that,  it  was  fantastic.  So  we  thought  the  With  every  week  that  went  past  we  had  a  new  member  only  age  group  we  have  not  join  and  halfway  through  the  spring  term  our  numbers  catered  for  is  the  adults;Íž  we  were  up  to  18  and  the  water  had  started  to  warm  up  a  little.  began  SwimFit  with  Dr  Loten Â

Lorenzen  Bay.  Apparently  it  has  become  necessary  to  send  the  wastewater  from  new  subdivisions  that  drains  to  the  bottom  of  Lorenzen  Bay  Road  up  to  the  Cambrae  Road  part  of  the  system,.  I  have  no  idea  why,  but  it  looks  expensive.  Instead  of  destroying  the  walkway  steps  downward  from  Cambrae  they  have  laid  pipes  underground  using  a  very  new  complex  machine  which  burrows,  like  a  mole.  I  wonder  what  it  cost.

I  am  particularly  interested  in  where  my  rates  go  as  there  is  a  new  local  body  proposal  to  cut  out  the  Raglan  bus  on  Sundays  and  public  holidays.  This  is  such  a  petty  idea  when  you  think  about  the  huge  amounts  spent  elsewhere.
