F RO M T H E C A P TA I N CR AIG BALL Thank you for your continued support throughout another memorable year at Royal Adelaide. We are now in the third year of our five-year course enhancement plan and recently welcomed back Renaissance Golf Design’s Brian Slawnik for a further 10 days of course modifications. Brian focused on the redesign of the 17th hole and the 18th tee, continuing the steady and considered improvements that will shape the course for years to come. Work is currently progressing well with the professional shop redevelopment, with completion expected in early March 2026. We are looking forward to seeing our upgraded professional shop, which will allow our team to continue delivering a worldclass experience for our members and guests.

This year’s 50-Year Member Lunch was once again a highlight, with ten new inductees: Zen Herzberg, Rob Taylor, William Brown, Nick Dunstan, Robin Greenslade, Charles Nott, Harry Perks, Philip Speakman, Susan Johnson and Toffee Perkins. Held on Friday 26 September, it was a warm and enjoyable celebration of loyalty and connection. We now proudly have over 140 members who have reached 50 years of Royal Adelaide membership. In October, we sadly farewelled our longest-serving member, Dr John Skipper AM, who passed away at 103, just 9 days short of his 104th birthday. John was a member for an extraordinary 81 years, and the large attendance at his service spoke to the respect and fondness held for him by so many.

Links staff for delivering a BBQ feast to remember. As always, our Club enjoys the extraordinary support of our volunteers, who contribute in countless ways across events, competitions, committees, the course and working groups. Your willingness to give your time and expertise is deeply appreciated. To all our staff, thank you for your continued commitment and professionalism. Your efforts underpin the high-quality experience enjoyed by all who visit Royal Adelaide. Wishing everyone a wonderful summer of golf. Craig

Our junior golfers have delivered outstanding results this year, securing the Sharp Cup for the first time, and seeing our McMillan Shield team claim victory for the second time in three years. Congratulations to all Junior members involved. Our Hickory team also made history, winning the Hickory Stick Interclub Competition for the first time with a 3.5–1.5 result. The 2025 Club Championships was one for the record books, with storms forcing all finals to be rescheduled. My thanks go to the Golf Operations team for their flexibility and persistence in ensuring each final was completed. Congratulations to Billy Cawthorne, who claimed his sixth Men’s Club Championship, and to Alice Cho, winning her first Women’s Club Championship. In addition to her Club Championship, Alice also won the 2025 South Australian Junior Masters and topped the Girls Order of Merit. Raegan Denton added to her impressive year with victory at the Australian Junior Amateur Championship, Victorian Amateur, along with securing the Women’s Order of Merit. Our Foundation Golf Day was once again a terrific event, with a great day of golf followed by stories from legendary cricket broadcaster Jim Maxwell. The Foundation Day Raffle was drawn, and in an extraordinary streak of luck, Michael Jay claimed first prize for the second year in a row—we hope he enjoys a wonderful stay at Southern Ocean Lodge. Our golf and social calendar continues to thrive. In March we held our first-ever Howlin’ Hoe Down in the Wild West, which proved a roaring success. It was fantastic to see so many members embrace the theme. Thank you to Stirling Silver featuring Lasso Lizzie for the entertainment, and to Dave Meadows from our

A message from the General Manager As we head into the festive season, I’d like to take a moment, on behalf of all our staff, to wish every member a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We truly appreciate your support and engagement throughout the year. It’s been wonderful to see the Club continue to go from strength to strength, and I’m excited for what the year ahead will bring. There’s been plenty to celebrate, with members achieving success both on and off the course, many of which are highlighted in the following pages. I’m extremely proud of how our staff have taken on the challenge of enhancing member service and overall experience. To those who have offered words of appreciation — thank you. Your feedback has meant a great deal to the whole team. Once again, I wish you and your families a safe and enjoyable festive season, and I look forward to seeing you in the New Year. Mark Tan General Manager

CO U R S E e n h a n c e m e n t U P DAT E In September, Brian Slawnik of Renaissance Golf Design was at Royal Adelaide for a fortnight. His focus this year was on the 17th and 18th tee. 17TH HOLE

18TH HOLE

On the 17th, the works consisted of a new tee blocks which will ‘reduce the visual noise’ experienced by players on the 16th tee.

The teeing ground behind the red tee block has been expanded towards the boundary fence enabling the white tee block to be relocated to this expanded area. The effective hole length from the relocated white tee block is now slightly shorter. Playability, as well as views of the bunkering, green and clubhouse has been enhanced.

The 17th fairway will play along its existing left-hand side as well as expanding left into the current first cut of rough, with alterations to the fairway and green bunkers.

f ro m t h e p ro f e s s i o n a l S h o p It’s been another significant year for the professional shop team, with a full refurbishment currently underway. Early in the year we welcomed James Tregenza to the Golf Operations team. A freshly minted PGA member, James settled quickly into the RAGC environment and has provided excellent service to members across the professional shop, as well as the lesson and fitting team. We also welcomed Holly Moritz, and more recently Alex Griffiths and Harry Percey. Holly assists across the practice fairway and shop, Harry works on the practice fairway, and Alex focuses primarily on professional shop duties. More recently, we farewelled Ebony from the team. Following maternity leave, Ebony made the difficult decision not to return to the Club or continue on the PGA Membership Pathway Program. She is looking forward to returning to amateur golf and spending more time with her young family. We thank Ebony for her contribution and wish her all the very best. Jake and James have continued to expand the club fitting offering at Royal Adelaide, and we are now proud to provide the most extensive club fitting service in South Australia. Members considering new equipment are encouraged to speak with Jake or James to arrange a free, no-obligation club fitting or bag assessment. The coaching team has also grown during the year, with James and Mark Gooding joining Tony, Jake, Patric and Chris to deliver coaching services seven days a week. The team is preparing pennant squads for the 2026 season, with additional coaching and group options to be released early in the new year. Coaching remains available throughout the holiday period, with bookings via the website, RAGC app or the professional shop. The Golf Operations team looks forward to welcoming members into the new professional shop in early March, with a gala cocktail event planned to celebrate the official opening. Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to assisting you with your golfing in 2026.

H AV E A V E RY M E R RY C H R I ST M A S A N D A HAPPY NEW YEAR! On behalf of the Committee and staff, we wish you and your family a safe and joyous Christmas and New Year. We look forward to seeing you again in 2026!
