FIGHTERS from three Nato nations have flown large-scale sorties over the North Sea ahead of Europe’s biggest air Exercise – Joint Warrior – next month. British and American F-35Bs teamed up with Dutch F-35As and two USAF F-16 squadrons from Italy in missions to prepare the Lightnings to deploy on the Royal Navy’s new super carriers. The training, codenamed Exercise Point Blank, originally a quarterly training mission between the RAF and Lakenheath-based US units, has evolved into a multi-national bigticket event involving more than 50 aircraft from across the Nato alliance. l Continued on p5
