The gym was filled with excitement as clients were gathered. The positive atmosphere was felt as old acquaintances were reunited, friendship was rekindled, and the sense of community took the lead. This event marked RAFI MFI’s victorious return to the Mini General Assembly, and our cherished clients and dedicated staff were delighted. It was not just an event, it was a celebration of unity, growth, and shared experiences.

RAFI Microfinance (RAFI MFI) opened four new branches last June and reached an important point that highlights its dedication to promoting financial wellness and economic empowerment. These locations, which are strategically positioned in San Francisco and Bayugan (North Mindanao), Lopez and Calauag (South Luzon), are an important development in the organization’s objective to reach underprivileged communities and offer access to necessary financial and non-financial services.

SNP SCHOLARSHIP AWARDING CEREMONY

NURTURING A RESILIENT ENTREPRENEURIAL SPIRIT A significant event unfolded as the Scholarship Awarding Ceremony for the “Scholar si Nanay” Program took place at the University of San Jose – Recoletos Basak Campus last June 27, 2023. Marking a momentous occasion, the ceremony seamlessly blended in-person and virtual attendance through Zoom, further extending its reach via RAFI MFI’s Facebook Page. The “Scholar si Nanay” initiative is a scholarship program by RAFI MFI, takes a purposeful stride towards aiding and revitalizing businesses.
THE PURPOSEFUL STRIDE
Extending a warm welcome, Ms. Iris Dorado, Vice President for Client Engagement and Development Services at RAFI MFI, emphasized the cornerstone of the program - nurturing a resilient entrepreneurial spirit among the “nanay” scholars, underscored by dedication and enterprise.
Awardees were proudly introduced across distinct categories hailing from various hometowns - Cebu South, Cebu North, Negros Occidental, and Leyte - vividly showcasing the program’s impact. Leading this acknowledgment, the Business Operation Unit Head of RAFI MFI bestowed awards and endorsed the deserving scholars.
Concluding the affair, Ms. Mary Anne Roble, Director of the Research, Innovation, and Techno-Training Center at the University of San Jose Recoletos, conveyed her closing remarks with a sense of pride. She commended the scholars for infusing their creations with affection, ingenuity, and unwavering passion a testament to their devotion and commitment.
KAAGAPPAY MO! RAFI MFI, USJ-R RITTC, AND BCPD MOA SIGNING FOR “SCHOLAR SI NANAY” PROGRAM The RAFI Microfinance (RAFI-MFI), in collaboration with the Banilad Center for Professional Development (BCPD) and the University of San Jose - Recoletos Recoletos Industrial and Technological Training Center (USJ-R RITTC), marked a significant moment with the renewal of the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) for the Scholar si Nanay Program (SNP). On May 9, 2023, the MOA was signed in the boardroom of the Kabilin Center (TKC).
“ DEDICATION TO EMPOWERING WOMEN
In his opening speech, Jonar B. Dorado, Chief Operating Officer of RAFI Microfinance, highlighted the organization’s unwavering commitment to providing financial services to elevate the lives of “nanays” and their families. He stated how RAFI Microfinance takes a holistic approach, including financial and non-financial services. A prime example of this approach is the SNP, which shows RAFI’s dedication to empowering women to pursue education and fulfill their dreams. It aims to provide members an opportunity to learn through official TESDA NC II accredited courses. These courses empower participants with practical skills, enabling them to create sustainable livelihoods that uplift their lives.
EDUCATION FOR ALL Rev. Fr. Eduardo Celiz Jr. OAR, President of the University of San Jose Recoletos, also shared his perspective. He celebrated the university’s 75-year legacy of inclusive education, emphasizing that quality education is a right for all, especially the less privileged members of society. The MOA signing between USJ-R, BCPD, and RAFI MFI represents an act of solidarity and justice, ensuring equal opportunities for all. This collaboration paves a better future for “nanays” and their families as well as other partnerships that support the goals of the SNP.
OTHER MOA SIGNINGS RAFI MFI X RAMS ART X ARC ANGELUS CIVITAS MOA SIGNING • RAFI Microfinance (RAFI-MFI), RAMS Art Training and Assessment Center Inc., and Arc Angelus Civitus School Inc. had a virtual Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) sign-off for the Scholar si Nanay Program last May 19, 2023. RAFI-MFI X RAFI-HDPR X FTCPI X LEHUK MOA SIGNING ARTICLE • A virtual Livelihood Kits turnover and Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing was held on May 26, 2023, by RAFI - Microfinance (RAFI-MFI), Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Inc.-Humanitarian Disaster Preparedness and Response (RAFI HDPR) Unit, Feed The Children Philippines Inc. (FTCPI), and Lepantohanong Hugpong sa Kalambuan (LEHUK). RAFI-MFI X HSSI SUN KING MOA SIGNING ARTICLE • The Ramon Aboitiz Foundation Microfinance (RAFI MFI), Hybrid Social Solutions (HSSI), and Sun King came together for the RAFI MFI x HSSI - Sun King MOA Signing event last June 28, 2023. The agreement signifies their collaboration on a solar access program aimed at providing clean and affordable energy through solar kits. This collaboration is driven by a common goal of addressing energy poverty and uplifting underserved communities. RAFI MFI X BUILD CHANGE MOA SIGNING • Last June 29, 2023, RAFI Microfinance (RAFI-MFI) conducted a virtual signing of Memorandum of Agreement (MOA), formalizing their collaboration with Build Change.
PAGTUKI 2023 In the hearts of June, a special occasion is on the horizon - Pagtuki 2023. An event with the theme “Tatay, Papa, Daddy, Kahit anong tawag mo, sila ang haligi ng tahanan dyan sa puso mo” was live on the 22nd of June 2023 at DYLA 909 khz. It was hosted by Zennia Gekin who had insightful discussions with guests Raffy M. Baladjay, Micro Plus Director of RAFI MFI, and John Paulter A. Rivera, Regional Director for Region 7 on Microloans Operations of RAFI-MFI. Raffy emphasized fatherhood’s challenges and balancing work and family time. While John Paulter also highlighted the importance of family understanding of work’s nature and resilience through communication. They addressed the struggles of being away from family and partners’ roles of parenting. Both strict discipline, resilience, and family understanding of work’s demands. The program also covered RAFI MFI’s objectives, aiming to provide clients with the means to establish sustainable businesses for themselves and their families. Financially, they offer microloans, micro plus loans, and savings while promoting responsible financial behavior. Through microloans and non-financial services, RAFI MFI supports entrepreneurs, aiming to enhance their lives. Beyond financial aid, they ensure funds are used wisely for personal development. Their approach not only offers loans but also fosters financial stability and empowerment.
