I consider this an honor to pen down this message for the second edition of the Annual E-magazine, The Rotaractor: PERSPECTIVE of the Rotaract Club of KDU
Working with these young enthusiastic undergraduates as their officer in charge is a pleasure like no other Rotaract is a wonderful opportunity for all university undergraduates, giving them a chance to interact with their fellow faculty mates, cadet officers of the university, and other students around the country
The Rotaract Club of KDU is considered one of the most prestigious and oldest clubs at the University, known among the undergraduates and administration for the new initiatives and very high standards maintained while executing their projects. Looking at the dedication and enthusiasm these youngsters put into completing any task that is assigned to them, and trying their level best to make a positive change in society gives me reassurance for a better future for our country
No words can express how proud I am of these hardworking individuals at the Rotaract Club of KDU, and I am looking forward to working with them and helping them to my level best in their future initiatives Rotaract is not just a club it is a family for all undergraduates, and it is indeed the best family you will ever have.
LCdr (N) SMS Senadhipathi psc Officer in Charge Rotaract Club of KDU
The Rotaractor: PERSPECTIVE is the second edition of the E-magazine of the Rotaract Club of KDU that summarizes the great work done by our undergraduates in the past year As their Lady Officer-In-Charge, it is with great pleasure that I pen down this message I have got a chance to work with these undergraduates and I'm extremely proud of what they have accomplished throughout the year
The Rotaract Club of KDU is considered one of the oldest and most prestigious clubs of the University, it is well known among all undergraduates and the university administration for its great initiatives and projects The club members have worked extremely hard to uplift the club to what it is today all while networking and developing professionally Rotaract is a platform that provides the youth with opportunities to develop professionally and improve themselves while serving the community and I am proud to say that the Rotaract Club of KDU has indeed accomplished these goals
I wish all members the best of luck as they undertake new opportunities and projects to serve their community

It’s been nearly two years since I have become a Rotaractor, and in this journey so far, I have certainly learned new skills and collected a lot of memories. Being the Co-Director of Community Services for the year 2021-2022, I was able to truly experience what Rotaract has to offer for a person From organizing initiatives and events to interacting and communicating with people all around the country, and having fun with fellow club members, made my first year in Rotaract memorable

My current journey as the 10th President of the Rotaract Club of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University is one to be proud of, and I am immensely grateful to have received an exceptional team of Rotaractors who always stood with me “Undivided in Service” The Rotaract Club of KDU is a club that has tremendous strength, and over the years the club has developed to become one of the prominent clubs in the university The club proudly stands today due to the utmost dedication and passion of both past and present members of the club, and I believe each member had a memorable experience in the club
I am certainly proud to have been the 10th President of the Rotaract Club of KDU, and my journey in Rotaract doesn’t end here, as I will be there to support and lend my help for all future endeavors of the Rotaract Club of KDU

It is with immense pleasure and a sense of nostalgia that I write to you as a past president of the Rotaract Club of KDU The Rotaract Club of KDU holds a special place in my heart, as it is a remarkable place where extraordinary individuals come together with a common purpose: to achieve something truly great

Within this club, I have witnessed the power of collaboration and the magic that unfolds when likeminded people work together. The Rotaract Club of KDU is a hub of diversity, creativity, and passion It is a place where ideas are nurtured, dreams are realized, and lasting friendships are forged
To the current team, I extend my deepest gratitude and admiration Your passion and commitment have been the driving force behind our achievements, and I am incredibly proud of what we have accomplished together You have set a high standard for future generations of Rotaractors, and I have no doubt that they will be inspired by your example

To the members, supporters, and well-wishers of the Rotaract Club of KDU, thank you for your unwavering support and encouragement throughout my term. Your belief in our mission and dedication to making a difference has been instrumental in our success
Finally, I want to emphasize my utmost gratitude for the opportunity to serve as the president of the Rotaract Club of KDU It has been an honor and a privilege to serve such a brilliant organization The memories we have created and the impact we have made will forever be cherished.
It is with utmost dignity and pleasure that I pen down a few words to capture my adoration for the Rotaract Club of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University as the tenth Secretary of the club for the year 2022-23 on the second edition of The Rotaractor- PERSPECTIVE; the Rotaract Magazine of the club

As a fresh undergraduate of the university I searched for a channel that could connect me to other fellow students, and without much deliberation I found the Rotaract Club, of which I immediately became a member and without much time passing got the opportunity to serve as the joint directress of Club Services The year as a directress opened my eyes to what Rotaract really is; as a place where leaders create more leaders and not followers I found my Ohana (family) within a span of a year and pushed me to apply for an executive position for the year 2022-23 Being the Secretary, I learned the ins and outs of the club, and how much effort the club puts into making a project successful in order to cause a wave of positivity in society
Looking back at the decade of excellence the club has produced, at a glance, one can recognize the massive impact it has single-handedly caused This year, the club worked unanimously and “Undivided in Service” to expand on this impact. I can happily say that we produced a set of enthusiastic individuals who will undeniably take the club to greater heights in the years to come and that I would always be cheering on for the success of this magical place

10 years have gone by, but I recall as if yesterday - of how a talented bunch of individuals formed together to charter the Rotaract Club of KDU From being the Best Charter Club, the Club has grown from strength to strength since then This continuing legacy gives all alumni of KDU Rotaract an immense sense of pride and self-satisfaction Some of the most wonderful memories and friends in life were made through Rotaract and its activities Simple advice - take maximum use of the exposure Rotaract can give you and enjoy every moment On a final note, I commend the present Committee headed by Ashen and all members for their excellent work, and I extend my appreciation to the Vice Chancellor Maj Gen Milinda Peiris who has been a pioneering force of KDU Rotaract
2013-2014
It is indeed a pleasure to see the club that we chartered ten years ago evolve into what it is today I wish all the best to all members of the club, to initiate more initiatives that will uplift the community and make more memories while enjoying Rotaract

2014-2015

I am happy to pen these words for the 2nd Edition of the Annual Magazine of the Rotaract Club of KDU Over the years, the club has initiated many initiatives that have helped the community and also made many memories to be cherished by all the members As a past president, I am proud to see the club evolve and rise to greater heights I wish all the very best to the current members of the club and hope to see RACKDU reach greater heights in the years to come
Viva la KDU Rotaract!

2015-2016

It gives me immense pleasure to pen this down as the 4th President of the Rotaract Club of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University RACKDU was more than a club to me; it was more of a family where every one of us gave our hearts out to achieve a common goal Being a part of RACKDU was not just another 4 years at a club It gave me a lot of life experiences, memories, and also a set of friends who later became family It was always challenging to organize all the projects and keep up with the progress but that challenge was the best part of it “Happy are those who dream dreams and are ready to pay the price to make them come true”, and we sure were a happy bunch, making all our dreams come true

My advice for the younger generation is that we all are here for a reason We all have a purpose in life and that is serving mankind This platform at Rotaract is arguably the best platform to do so Make sure you use it for the greater good You are part of a prestigious club where a bunch of kids like you all worked day and night to bring this club to this level, therefore, make sure to continue that legacy Now when I look back at this journey, it brings a smile to my face to see what the club has done for the community
All the very best for the future!
Viva La Rotaract!
2016 2017

2017-2018
It is with great pleasure I pen these words for the Annual Magazine of RACKDU The Rotaract Club of KDU has transformed incrementally over the past decade across all avenues it embarked on
I believe that launching an annual magazine to showcase all the amazing work done by these talented undergraduates pays true to the above sentiment I wish to take this opportunity to congratulate and wish all the very best to the members of RACKDU

Hope the club will evolve into greater heights in years to come and continue to serve the motherland forever!
2018-2019

2019-2020

It is with great pleasure that I contribute this message to the second release of The Rotaractor, Magazine of RACKDU Over the past years of my journey in Rotaract, I have gained many things that have certainly played a huge role in my life and I was extremely privileged and honored to receive the opportunity of leading this prestigious club as the 7th President during the year 2019/20
Being very famous as the only Rotaract Club in Sri Lanka with a military background, RACKDU has its unique ways of functioning For the past years, RACKDU has managed to reach greater heights for every project they conduct by improving scale, quality, and sustainability I’m truly honored to witness amazing services rendered by the RACKDU team under the excellent leadership of Rtr Ashen Hewavithana for the year 2022/23
RACKDU has created a lifetime bond and has become a second family to each of us, making it impossible to forget the experience, entertainment, and memories made during the years I wish to make this an opportunity to recognize the enormous support of my fellow club members who were behind every step and made sure that the dreams of RACKDU became a reality While wishing everyone all the very best in their future endeavors I would like to conclude my message with a famous anonymous quote,

“Hard Work and Dedication will Conquer All”
As one of the Past Presidents of the Rotaract Club of KDU, it is with utmost the pleasure that I pen this message to all

If I simply put my thoughts about my Rotaract Journey, through The Rotaract Club of KDU, I learned about life because each project I did gave me a lesson for life When I was appointed as the president for the year 20/21 my vision was to execute quality and sustainable projects that could make a positive impact on the community while serving humanity With the support of all the members of the club, we managed to pull off a great year with many Awards and recognitions for the club the club has grown very high and for that, I'm undoubtedly proud to be in the Rotaract Club of KDU
Everything I learned from Rotaract over the last 4 years has had a significant impact on my life, and I feel honored to be the 8th president of the club Some of my favorite memories of RACKDU are the post-meeting fun times, singing sessions, food, and most importantly the outings! The Rotaractors of RACKDU gave me some of the best experiences of my life All of you changed my life for the better and for that I will forever owe you’ll and I hope that our journey together is not at an end but just at the beginning of a new chapter Further, I want to wish our beloved Club the best of luck and its very capable hands at the moment, President Rtr Ashen Hewavithana & his Board of officials on the successful year It is amazing to see this magazine keeps getting better each year just as our club growth. I will finish this message with a quote that helped me to strive to be the best version of myself during my tenure as president This made me strong every time whenever there was a challenge
“Do your best and don't let anything stop you from the good cause you are doing because where there is 1% chance, there’s 99% faith”
Thank you RACKDU!

Making New Friends and Making a Difference

Why is joining a Rotaract Club worth it? As someone who has always been interested in community service and making a positive impact in the world, joining the Rotaract Club of KDU seemed like a natural fit for me Little did I know that it would also lead to some of my strongest and most meaningful friendships Through my involvement in RACKDU, I've had the opportunity to meet new people and connect with like-minded individuals who share my passion for service We work together on community service projects and attend club meetings and events, all while building strong bonds and lasting friendships Being part of a RACKDU has also given me the chance to learn and grow as a person, which has helped me to become a better friend I've gained new skills and perspectives through guest speakers and community service projects, and I've become more confident and self-aware Overall, joining a Rotaract club has been one of the best decisions I've made for both my personal and university life If you're looking for a way to make new friends, deepen your existing relationships, and make a positive impact in the world, I highly recommend giving Rotaract a try

Listen to your heart
“Listen to the wind, it talks, Listen to the silence, it speaks, Listen to your heart, it knows.”

- Native American proverb
We live in a world where competitiveness beats humanity And in a world filled with emerging technologies to dominate and conquer We become less human and more like robots who get stuck in a work frame, which makes us forget our own values, strengths, creativity, and most importantly the purpose of being a human Often we listen to other people’s opinions, desires, hopes, and admirations, but did we take the time to listen to our inner voice or the rhythm of our own heartbeat? Many people follow the flock, but fewer have the courage to listen to their heart and place one's energy to find what it says. Listening to your heart is much needed because there is only one of you in the whole universe and each and every one of us is blessed with talents that are unique to us Seeking to what you truly love to do, simply by listening to your heart will gain your inner peace and confidence and you will find your true potential Not only that but also this will lead to fewer regrets, fewer complaints, and fewer worries You will start to feel every moment magical and every second special So I urge you to talk to yourself and to listen to yourself because your heart genuinely knows where you truly belong too
The Joys of Rotaract Club Projects

Participating in a project as a Rotaractor can be a fun and rewarding experience that comes with responsibilities Rotaract club projects are often intended to make a positive impact in the community, which can be very rewarding for members Members who contribute to a project have the ability to make noticeable changes in the lives of others A project can also be an excellent way for Rotaractors to learn new talents and experience new things Projects frequently require teamwork, leadership, and project management skills, which can help participants in developing valuable professional skills that can be employed in their job opportunities This can be very useful for individuals who are just starting out in their careers
There are some fun activity projects as well in Rotaract Club It can be a great way to socialize, have fun and build community It allows you to interact with like-minded people and develop relationships while participating in a fun activity An enjoyable activity project can provide a sense of unity that can lead to a long-lasting friendship It can also provide a break from stress and allow individuals to enjoy themselves Through these projects, Rotaractors not only make a positive impact on their communities but also have fun and rewarding experiences that they will remember for the rest of their lives
A GENERATION OF CHANGE

Change is only possible if you are willing to learn Knowledge, collaboration, and positive engagement in one’s role create individuals who aspire to make a change, first in themselves and then in the world Empowering the youth by allowing them to initiate communal events and providing them with an audience in which they could talk about change and make a change Rotaract gives these young hearts a reason to beat
What makes Rotaract stand above other youth organizations is its capacity to create individuals who are not just textbook leaders, but leaders with empathy, charisma, and integrity Rotaract leaders are sculptured to be paragons of how one must inspire A change in leadership involves all ideas of community Growing together and going together is what it means to be a part of this generation of change This is what it is to be a Rotaracter
Embarking on an extraordinary voyage riddled with trials, moments of awe, and the shattering of seemingly insurmountable barriers, our odyssey at the Rotaract Club of KDU has woven an indelible tapestry of memories we shall forever cherish. As we bid farewell to this remarkable year, we find immense joy in having served as cochairpersons for the culminating project: The Rotaractor: Perspective, an annual magazine that encapsulates the essence of our club's triumphs, as well as the camaraderie shared among fellow clubs, illuminating the true spirit of Rotaract

Within the pages of this magazine lie tales of our club's achievements, fostering a sense of nostalgia that will undoubtedly resonate with all who peruse its contents

A NIGHT full of MUSIC,Rain & FLAVOUR:

On the 3rd of April, history was made in the University's social calendar with the first-ever "Rota Fiesta", a musical event alongside a food festival with over 2500 people, was an innovative concept brought to life by Projects Chairs, Rtr Sayuni Senadeera, Rtr Githmi Gunawardena and the rest of the amazing board of officials! The event was a huge success and a testament to the hard work put in by the organizers, overlookers, and general members

The Vice-Chancellor's presence at the inauguration of the ceremony added to the excitement and anticipation for the evening's festivities The event lived up to expectations with delicacies of all kinds and music by some of Sri Lanka's most famous artists, Dinesh Gamage, Kaizer Kaiz, and Harini Weerasingha with an amazing music band, YakaCrew
One of the standout moments of the evening was the Rotaract club's interesting "Spiced Rotti" challenge itself and in addition to that, the stalls from our university students and clubs, IEEE WIE Club of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University and other interesting challenges made by students made this evening very exciting and brought happiness along the way. Diving in this “Spiced up Rotti challenge”; Sri Lanka’s Rotti තම ෙහාඳම. It was a fun opportunity for people to test their spice tolerance levels, tearing up, and getting redder eyes while friends were laughing hysterically.

It remained to be a landmark event in the University's social calendar, and it is sure to become a signature feature in the years to come The event showcased the Rotaract club's commitment to making a positive impact in the community while also providing an opportunity for students to have fun and enjoy great music and food
