VESTAL VARSITY SWIMMING & DIVING

The Vestal Swimming and Diving Program would like to take this opportunity to thank the many individuals who make this program possible.
We would like to thank the Vestal Board of Education for continuing to support the program and aquatics facilities we use. Sports like swimming and diving not only promote healthy life choices but also create a network of social support and personal development so vital to our students.
Thank you to Athletic Director Josh Gannon, who continues to be an excellent steward of Vestal Swimming and Diving. Swimming is an expensive sport and without the departmental support and the upgrades we need, our teams’ successes would be in jeopardy.
We appreciate the businesses and people in the area who have supported our program through advertisements and donations. Their contributions have allowed our programs to thrive when many have seen declines in recent years.
Finally, we would like thank the Booster Club and parents of our athletes. Without strong local and family support, none of this would be possible.
Thanks for supporting the Vestal Swimming and Diving Program!

What are your favorite events or dives? My favorite events are the medley relay and the 100 breaststroke.
Favorite memory: Taper is my favorite swim memory. It’s so much fun and so great for team bonding. We get to put on a bunch of torn-up suits and socks and we have a lot of laughs. It’s a great way to get ready for sectionals.
What do you like to do out of the pool? Out of the pool I play golf, watch movies, listen to Taylor Swift, and spend time with friends and family.
Thank you to… I would like to thank my mom for always pushing me to keep swimming and trying my hardest even when I was tired or didn’t feel like going. Also, my whole family for always supporting me.
Do you have any advice for the team? Always cheer each other on and be kind.
Favorite memory: I’ll always remember the night of homecoming my sophomore year when coach made lane 4 swim a whopping 76 100s in 2.5 hours. Although there was a big struggle to finish the ruthless set, I felt closer to my team and friends then ever before.
What are your favorite events? Although my favorite events are a full flush of backstroke (100 and 200 respectively), I’ve been known to make appearances in most events like the 200 IM and 200 Free.
What do you like to do out of the pool? Vestal Science Olympiad team and Vestal Wind Ensemble, varsity track and field team. Thank you to… I want to thank my entire family, from my mom and dad forcing my to attend years of 7 p.m. UNAC practices, to my sister, giving me the best competition I could ever have had.
Do you have any advice for the team? If I were to say anything to the team it would be to be the fuel for each other to improve. You can push yourself to your limits, but if you have a friend to push you that extra mile, it’s impossible not to reach your goals.
Go the distance, Fran!
Love, Mom, Dad, Joey, and Tommy
Good luck, Golden Bears!
Good luck, Megan! Swim fast and have fun!

Favorite events? The 100 fly, 100 back, 50 fly, and 100 free.
Favorite memory: In general, in the locker room after the team had to swim a difficult set. We talk about how hard it was and discuss what we’re going to eat when we get home. Out of the pool... Read, watch movies, practice retail therapy. Also, I enjoy editing the school newspaper, playing my clarinet, and studying for Science Olympiad.
Thank you to… My parents. I’m grateful for their support and the time they’ve put into helping me. I also want to thank the team, specifically, Stella, the person I started swimming with in fifth grade, and who will be there at my last sectional meet.
Advice for the team: You are so much more than they think they are. More than a grade, a time, a performance. Don’t let one “failure” define you. Be kinder to yourself, please.
We cannot believe our sweet Stella’s senior year has arrived. It feels like just yesterday we were taking you, as our little 3-year-old, to swim lessons in the same pool you now practice in every day. It has been one of our greatest joys to watch you get better and more confident every year. We are proud of you for sticking with swim, even on those late, cold nights you wanted to stay home. You always show up to practices and meets with positivity and team spirit. Now you are a strong, confident, kind, and beautiful young woman. We will always be your greatest supporters, cheering you on well after the bleachers and that annoying glass window are gone! Swim fast and don’t look back. We love you, and wish you the best season yet.
Margaret, memories made in the pool last a lifetime. We are so proud of you.
Love, Mom, Dad and Cricket
What are your favorite events or dives? I like 50 free and 100 fly the best.
Favorite memory: I will remember the long bus rides back from Horseheads when we all did karaoke together.
What do you like to do out of the pool? I love to dance!
Thank you to… I would like to thank Coach Shore and Sarah and all of the parents who host pasta dinners and sponsor our team.
Do you have any advice for the team?
Whenever you’re more tired is when you should work harder; it will push your limits and make you a better swimmer. Also make sure to always keep your teammates close because they’re like your second family.

To Maddie:
We are so proud of you. Whatever journey the world takes you on, we know you will always be one with the water.
Swimming in it to touch out an opponent
Sailing on it to let the wind rush through your hair
Sliding down its frozen paths to feel the icy breeze in your face
Jumping into it to cool the sunny rays
Paddling on it in perfect balance
Walking beside it to see the where the wild things are
AND WHEREVER YOU ARE, IF WATER IS AN ELEMENT OF THAT JOURNEY, YOU WILL BE HOME
CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR SENIOR YEAR AND ALL THAT IS TO COME.
Love, Mom, Dad, Anna and Saphy
