Value Reasoning: In determining the market value of the appraised work, I considered the marketplaces that most actively support this artist. Based on my research, auction appears to be the most common marketplace for Antoine Pierre. However, the artist demonstrates a limited and relatively scarce auction presence, with few documented sales available for comparison. As part of my research, I corresponded with Fernando and Anna Valverde of Charleston Estate Services Auctions and Appraisals, who sold Comparable A in 2024. They confirmed that the maker of Comparable A is the same artist as the maker of the appraised work. Based on my correspondence with the auction house, Antoine Pierre is identified as a 20th-century Haitian artist. Given the limited number of documented sales and the artist's relatively sparse auction history, I considered the available comparable sale, and the additional information provided by the auction house in determining the appropriate market value. Taking into consideration the comparable sale discussed above, the artist's limited market presence, the stylistic strengths of this appraised piece, and my correspondence with the auction house, I have determined the market value of the appraised work to be $200.00.
