11th Annual Our House 5 Miler May 2, 2010 ABOUT OUR HOUSE Founded in 1980, Our House, Inc. is a social service agency that provides residential, employment and recreational services to individuals with developmental disabilities living in New Jersey. Our House currently has 25 homes and apartments located throughout Morris, Union, Somerset and Essex Counties.

Our House Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing funding for programs and services for individuals with developmental and learning disabilities.

The primary beneficiary of funding is Our House, Inc. The goal and mission of Our House, Inc. and Our House Foundation is to promote a high quality of life for these adults and help them to become productive members of our community. We strive to provide these opportunities in a supportive, safe environment that stresses “abilities, not disabilities.”

This year, The Rotary Club of the Rockaways will provide funding for various Rotary community projects, including the Pam Miller Scholarship and the Morris County Interfaith Food Pantry Capital Campaign.

Pam Miller was a senior in the Class of 2004 at Morris Hills High School. She was an academic standout and excelled in sports. In November of 2003, she collapsed and died during gym class from natural causes.

The Morris County Interfaith Pantry currently serves more than 300 families each week, most of whom are senior citizens and low-income working families. More than 20 tons of food is distributed out of cramped quarters every month. A new building, located on donated land, will provide significantly more store space, allowing the Pantry to receive and process more corporate donations as well as more truckloads of food. This will allow the Pantry to serve more families as well as other local food pantries in Morris County.

Exercising, having fun with the kids and helping others to reach their goals and potential are all part of Bob Kelleher's legacy and the spirit in which this race has been founded. The Kids Tri for Bob Kelleher, the first kids triathlon to be held at Victory Park in Rumson, NJ. This event will be held in memory of Bob Kelleher, a Rumson resident who passed away unexpectedly in July 2009.

This event is particularly appropriate to honor Bob, as it conveys some of the passions that were so much a part of his daily life. To name a few, Bob was an avid Triathlete, participating in numerous local races as well as completing three "IronMan" Competitions in Lake Placid, NY. Another important passion of Bob's was his enthusiasm for volunteering. He regularly coached his son and local children in several Rumson Recreation sports. When Bob passed away he was the Captain of the Rumson First Aid Squad, where he had been an active volunteer since 2003.

The proceeds for this race will be donated to The Rumson First Aid Squad and Rumson Recreation Program.
