Aidan McGarry Racecourse Manager
On behalf of the board and team here at Naas Racecourse, you are very welcome to our August Bank Holiday Monday race meeting featuring the €200,000 Irish EBF Ballyhane Stakes. This is the sixth running of the race and, following today’s renewal, over €1.85 million in prize money will have been awarded - making it a standout target for owners and trainers at the height of the flat season.
Eddie Moran Owner Liaison
Ballyhane Stud and the Irish EBF have been tremendous supporters of the race, and a big thank you to Joe Foley and the team at Ballyhane, as well as Nessa Joyce from the Irish EBF, for their ongoing support. Ballyhane Stud, whose stallion roster is headed by the exciting Group 1 producing sire Sands Of Mali, also offer a range of other services including boarding, foaling and sales preparation. The Irish EBF continues to be the largest sponsor in Irish racing and plays a central role in driving various race innovations and race series to support all levels of the sport.
Thanks to Ballyhane Stud and the Irish EBF, we’re running a fantastic Sweepstake for today’s feature race and racegoers are in with a chance to win some brilliant prizes! The draw will take place after the third race, so make sure to get your entry in early via our QR codes, available in the racecard and on signage throughout the racecourse. Top prize includes tickets and an overnight hotel stay for Ireland v Australia in the November Internationals. Our thanks to Lawlor’s Hotel for a wonderful runners-up prize. This includes an overnight stay with Lawlor’s and some Golden Tickets, so you can relax and enjoy the racing whilst staying within walking distance of the racecourse.
TRM, a key partner of Naas Racecourse, kick off the day with the sponsorship of our opening contest, the Ironxcell For Energy Race. Enda Kelly and his team are a pleasure to work with throughout the flat season, and we thank them for their continued support. We are also delighted to welcome a new sponsor today in the shape of LubriSyn HA+. We’re thrilled to have Jim McCormack and the team join us on this bank holiday Monday for the LubriSyn HA+Soundness is Speed Fillies Maiden.
As well as a great day of racing, we’re delighted to have the Sensory Bus on site today, located beside the playground area. The bus provides a calm, wheelchair-accessible space for anyone with additional sensory needs, and is one of our first steps toward making racedays more inclusive and welcoming for all racegoers.
Next to the Sensory Bus and playground, we’re delighted to feature our popular new addition here at Naas, the Meet the Racehorse Experience. Today, we’re thrilled to welcome Briar Hill back to Naas, alongside his handler Corine Doran. This experience offers racegoers of all ages the chance to meet a retired racehorse, learn about his life after racing, and chat with Corine about his daily routine and care. It’s a wonderful opportunity for the public to get up close and personal with a thoroughbred, so be sure to pop down and say hello during the day!
Lily & Wild, our raceday caterers, offer lots of options throughout the venue from a table for the day in the Panoramic Restaurant, a fresh burger BBQ marquee next to the grandstand while The Post Restaurant has lots of graband-go options to consider.
Our next raceday is the Tally-Ho Stud Irish EBF Ballyogan Stakes Summer Sunday on August 24th. Visit naasracecourse.com for some great value hospitality and admission packages.
Enjoy your evening!
Aidan McGarry Manager

Selection Sparkling Sea
Given her juvenile form with Fairy Godmother, Sparkling Sea is sure to be popular on handicap debut off an attractive mark. However, a chance is taken on GENESIS who has been shaping well over further for Alan McIntyre. He seems to have the pace for 6f on stable debut for Mick Mulvany and could be hard to peg back. Laugh A Minute should also be thereabouts but would want give in the ground. [Conor Fennelly]

At every meeting there are specially qualified equine veterinary surgeons on duty to look after the well-being of all the horses racing. There is a vet in attendance at the start of each race who follows the horses throughout the race and is quickly on hand if a casualty occurs. It is normal procedure to erect screens around any horse receiving veterinary treatment. This allows the veterinary surgeon some privacy to fully assess the horses’ injuries and racegoers should not assume the worst if screens are erected around an injured horse. The Blue Cross ambulance is always present to transport the horse back to the stable yard for further treatment if necessary. A secondary veterinary surgeon is in attendance in the stable yard to assess and treat any horse requiring such attention post race. The horses’ welfare is always our priority.

Selection Zipster
This step up in trip could elicit further improvement from ZIPSTER who flew home to win cosily over a mile at Killarney last time. A 5lb rise seems lenient and he can go in again. Letiza beat a subsequent winner last time at Down Royal and has clear claims again, while Jr Mahon is an interesting stable debutant for Ian Donoghue having been gelded. [Conor Fennelly]
