Aidan McGarry Racecourse Manager
Good afternoon, everybody and welcome to Naas Racecourse for our final jumps meeting of the season. We have enjoyed a brilliant jumps season with any number of high-class performers on show. We are so appreciative of the support we get from owners and trainers throughout the season and we hope to see them all back later in the Autumn. As well as those who have supported us, I’d also like to say a big thank you to our dedicated track team. Throughout the winter, we have raced through some challenging weather conditions, and huge credit goes to Shane, Ivor, John, Johnny and the team of casual staff who kept the show on the road despite Mother Nature’s best efforts.
Eddie Moran Owner Liaison
We are incredibly grateful to the Irish National Professional Bookmakers Association and our dedicated on-course bookmakers, who show up week in, week out - rain or shine. Already an integral part of the industry, today they go even further by sponsoring the gate, allowing free entry for everyone at our Jumps Finale. In addition, they, along with the Irish EBF, are sponsoring the race card and all Best-Turned-Out prizes. Be sure to visit the betting ring and place a bet to show your appreciation.
As usual, Lily & Wild will be looking after all our racegoers throughout the day. There are a number of hospitality options for racegoers to enjoy including some gorgeous options in The Post self-service restaurant as well as in The Café on the ground floor of the Grandstand. Please approach a member of staff should you need anything or go to the Race Day off by the entrance turnstile where they will be happy to help you.
Our flat season kicks into gear on Monday April 28th on the eve of the Punchestown Festival – anyone going to the Festival can avail of a 50% reduction in admission to the races that evening by simply showing their Punchestown ticket. Looking further ahead, our Family Fun Day on May 18th coincides with some of our best racing on Royal Ascot Trials day, so that is not a day to miss, while our Summer BBQ and Music nights are just around the corner so make sure to check out www.naasracecourse.com for all the details.
My email address is below so if you have any feedback, good or bad, make sure to let me know. Wishing you all the best today and we hope you have a super day.

At every meeting there are specially qualified equine veterinary surgeons on duty to look after the well-being of all the horses racing. There is a vet in attendance at the start of each race who follows the horses throughout the race and is quickly on hand if a casualty occurs. It is normal procedure to erect screens around any horse receiving veterinary treatment. This allows the veterinary surgeon some privacy to fully assess the horses’ injuries and racegoers should not assume the worst if screens are erected around an injured horse. The Blue Cross ambulance is always present to transport the horse back to the stable yard for further treatment if necessary. A secondary veterinary surgeon is in attendance in the stable yard to assess and treat any horse requiring such attention post race. The horses’ welfare is always our priority.

Unsuited by testing conditions, BLACK HEATHER is given a hopeful vote on the strength of his useful good-ground bumper form. Bumper Jazz De Cotte has had ample time to recover after being under the weather at the time of his hurdling debut at Tipperary. Net Boy was stating on when unseating his rider at Leopardstown. Others to consider are Lecale’s Diamond and Youlita. [Alan Sweetman] Source: Racing Post

Formerly trained by the Kielys, MA BELLE ETOILE showed enough in bumpers and on the first of two hurdle starts to suggest a good chance in a race of this standard. Mile End was soundly beaten on her hurdling debut but could go close with normal improvement. Useful Flat performer Fiver Friday should be in the mix if taking to hurdling. The form of Shuffle The Deck’s maiden win over 19.5f here is the best on offer but whether the drop back to 2m is going to suit is up for debate. Adela Icon has to be considered and Action Plan could improve plenty for his comeback run but it might be worth chancing the unexposed POSITIVE ENERGY. He has won on similar ground to this on the Flat and there could be more to come from him in this sphere. [Dave Stephens]

Racing Post Predictor
Topweight RIVER VALE won a point-to-point on good ground and the lightly raced 9yo should only have to repeat his Limerick run to come out on top here. He went with plenty of enthusiasm on that occasion and the drop in trip should suit. The biggest danger is Marie’s March who posted a good third over C&D last time, while Star Official has the ability to get involved in the finish. [Adrian Wall]

The Charles Byrnes’ trained Ifallgoeswell shaped nicely over C&D when last seen and he should be thereabouts if fit after a 108-day break. Keep Kool Coko will appreciate the ground but he also lacks a recent run so a chance is taken on Paul Nolan’s mare TWO PAIR who shaped with promise in a strong Punchestown bumper on debut on New Year’s Eve and whose half-sister won a listed bumper on good ground for Fergal O’Brien. Jamada is also considered. [Dave Stephens] Source: Racing Post
