I am delighted to wish you all a warm welcome to Naas Racecourse this evening on the eve of a special week of racing in Kildare. We have a quality card in store this evening and we hope everyone enjoys their time here on what is traditionally the curtain-raiser to the brilliant Punchestown Festival.
Manager
Eddie Moran Owner Liaison
This evening’s card features the Listed Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital Woodlands Stakes. This is the sixth year that Anglesey Lodge has been sponsoring here at Naas, and I would like to thank the team there for their continued support. Based on the Curragh, Anglesey Lodge is a wonderful resource for the industry and with access to some of the best vets and facilities in the country, they play a vital role in maintaining the highest level of care.
We are also delighted to welcome back Martyn Pipe and his Race And Stay guests today. Martyn has grown Race And Stay in the leading racing travel company with fantastic reach through the racing world and they bring a great number of people racing in Ireland every year. Martyn Pipe and his team do a brilliant job year on year, and they are all set for a busy week. We wish them all a pleasant stay.
We are delighted to welcome back members from both the Naas Racecourse Business Club and Racing TV today as they sponsor races on the card. The Business Club was formed with the specific aim of businesses and racing enthusiasts sponsoring Listed and Graded races at Naas Racecourse. The Club has provided significant assistance in helping to improve the standard of racing at Naas Racecourse over the years. If you’re interested in joining or hearing more about the benefits, please email Milly Harwood mharwood@naasracecourse. com.
The Irish EBF have been a brilliant support to Naas Racecourse in helping us stage above-average maidens throughout the year. We are known as the Nursery of Champions and that title is well earned through great help from Nessa Joyce and her Board.
Best of luck to all of today’s owners, trainers, jockeys and the team behind each horse racing here today. We are always so appreciative of those who support our race programme throughout the year and we hope you all have a great day on and off the racecourse.
We have lots of hospitality options from our brilliant caterers, Lily & Wild, throughout the venue from the tasty dinner options in the Post Restaurant to our bar on the ground floor of the Circle Lounge. So, make sure to sample some of the great options on offer today.
Looking ahead, we are building up to a busy summer of brilliant racing and excellent hospitality. For families, put May 18th into your diaries as our Family Fun Day coincides with our Royal Ascot Trials Day while a summer of BBQs and music is in store for those racing with us on June 25th, July 5th and July 23rd. Hospitality options are selling fast so make sure to visit www.naasracecourse. com and book your ticket to avoid disappointment.
Should you have any feedback or would like to contact me for any reason, feel free to reach out on amcgarry@naasracecourse.com and I would be happy to hear from you.

At every meeting there are specially qualified equine veterinary surgeons on duty to look after the well-being of all the horses racing. There is a vet in attendance at the start of each race who follows the horses throughout the race and is quickly on hand if a casualty occurs. It is normal procedure to erect screens around any horse receiving veterinary treatment. This allows the veterinary surgeon some privacy to fully assess the horses’ injuries and racegoers should not assume the worst if screens are erected around an injured horse. The Blue Cross ambulance is always present to transport the horse back to the stable yard for further treatment if necessary. A secondary veterinary surgeon is in attendance in the stable yard to assess and treat any horse requiring such attention post race. The horses’ welfare is always our priority.

Of those with form in the book, SUBSONIC and Thilos appeal most, with slight preference for the former who should appreciate the step up in trip and she returns with her stable in top form. Ryan Moore rides Guarded for the first time but she needs to improve plenty on her comeback run to feature here. The nicely-bred newcomers Juniper Sling, Mittens and It’s A Heartbeat are worth monitoring in the market. [Dave Stephens]
