Aidan McGarry Racecourse Manager
The team at Naas Racecourse is delighted to welcome you to our Christmas Party Raceday, our final race meeting of the year. 2024 has been a great year both on and off the racecourse, with wonderful racing throughout the 12 months coupled with our centenary celebrations. A huge thank you goes to everyone who supported the racecourse throughout the year, from the owners and trainers who continued to bring top-class horses to the track and to all our loyal racegoers who bring that unique Naas race day atmosphere. For our final meeting of the year we are delighted to welcome those in the sold-out panoramic restaurant.
Eddie Moran Owner Liaison
We are delighted to offer you eight races on today’s card and this meeting quite often throws up some potentially smart runners that progress into Grade 1 contests in the winter and spring festivals. I am delighted to welcome Bar One Racing back as a sponsor today, Barney O’Hare and his team are great supporters of us, and indeed Irish Racing. Credit goes to Barney, an always present figure and they sponsor two of today’s races.
Gavin Lynch Racing returns to sponsor again at Naas and he is the man to follow when it comes to picking out the winners throughout the National Hunt season. We are delighted to welcome Gavin back and huge credit goes to him for pulling off another successful Pat Smullen race day during the summer when another staggering sum of money was raised. We are delighted to welcome Gener8 Engineering to the sponsorship ranks at Naas Racecourse a new local business and the ones to talk to if you’re interested in solar energy.
All members at Naas Racecourse are entered into a draw to win a race named in their honour and this year we’re delighted that our neighbour Kieron Gammel is the lucky recipient. We hope you have a lovely dinner Kieron and we look forward to seeing you in the parade ring for your race. If you would like a chance to win next year be sure to buy a 2025 Naas Racecourse membership, which you can do today in the raceday office.
As ever, our caterers Lily & Wild will be serving up lots of tasty options in The Post self-service Restaurant and the Café on the ground floor of The Grandstand. There will be a bar available on the ground floor of The Circle building.
If you need any help with anything please approach a member of staff or go to the Race Day office beside the entry point. We look forward to seeing you all back on January 5th for our feature jumps race of the year, The Grade 1 Lawlor’s of Naas Novice Hurdle and Winter Best Dressed Day. Please enjoy your day and I hope you and your family have a Merry Christmas and a Happy & Healthy New Year.

The Chairman, Directors and Management of Naas Racecourse would like to thank today’s sponsors:
Next race
Sunday 5th January 2024
At every meeting there are specially qualified equine veterinary surgeons on duty to look after the well-being of all the horses racing. There is a vet in attendance at the start of each race who follows the horses throughout the race and is quickly on hand if a casualty occurs. It is normal procedure to erect screens around any horse receiving veterinary treatment. This allows the veterinary surgeon some privacy to fully assess the horses’ injuries and racegoers should not assume the worst if screens are erected around an injured horse. The Blue Cross ambulance is always present to transport the horse back to the stable yard for further treatment if necessary. A secondary veterinary surgeon is in attendance in the stable yard to assess and treat any horse requiring such attention post race. The horses’ welfare is always our priority.
The Association of Irish Racecourse Veterinary Surgeons (AIRCVS)

However, it might be worth taking a chance on MAHLERS COVE. An interesting maiden hurdle. Amboyna was running a big race when unseating last time and could go well. The Mullins pair Baby Kate and Karoline Banbou are interesting, as is the Gavin Cromwell trained Lau And Shaz but preference is for Gordon Elliott’s QUALIMITA who shaped with plenty of promise on her seasonal reappearance and hurdling debut at Navan. She will strip fitter now and should improve plenty for that run. Belle The Tigress could go well at a price. [Dave Stephens]
