Managers’ Welcome

On behalf of the board and team here at Naas Racecourse, you are very welcome to our July Summer Music & BBQ Raceday. This is the first of our weekend summer season racedays and as well as some great racing in store, we also have our summer BBQ and live music after racing by No Limits! A very warm welcome today goes to the Smullen Family. To have the inaugural running of the Irish EBF Pat Smullen Stakes is a real honour for the racecourse and on a day like today we can look back with real pride on the huge number of winners Pat rode here at Naas Racecourse. A legend in and out of the saddle, it is only right that he is remembered with a quality contest and huge credit to Joe Foley and Nessa Joyce of the Irish EBF for creating the Pat Smullen Series that starts today. Best wishes to Francis and all the Smullen Family, and we hope everyone enjoys the day.

A special welcome to EMS Copiers, who have recently come on board as a sponsor. If you haven’t already partnered with John Cahill and his team for your office printing and copying solutions, we highly recommend their reliable service and local expertise.

We’re also pleased to host TRM Equine Nutrition for the fourth leg of their six-race series, coinciding with their summer team outing. You’ll notice their support of our Best Turned Out (BTO) League as well, currently led by Ger Lyons. It’s a fantastic initiative that recognises and rewards the dedication of stable staff whose hard work ensures each horse is presented at its very best. And while the sun is shining, it’s the perfect moment to highlight another innovative local business and sponsor joining us today, Gener8 Engineering. If you’ve been considering solar energy for your home or business, they’re well worth a conversation.

We are also delighted to welcome back Naas GAA and all their guests to our restaurant today for their annual fundraiser. The team at Naas Racecourse loves working with local clubs and businesses, and we hope everyone at Naas GAA enjoys their day, and we wish them the best of luck in this year’s championship as the drive for five is well and truly on! A special mention to GMC Group who are sponsoring a race with us as part of the contribution to the fundraiser, we hope everyone involved has a fantastic day out.

Best wishes also go to all the owners, trainers, riders and stable staff who have a runner here today. Thank you for your support and we hope to see you in the winner’s enclosure today.

Our panoramic restaurant and marquee packages are sold out but we will have lots of hospitality options for racegoers today. Make sure to check out our BBQ station located next to the grandstand along with the usual selection on the ground floor of the Grandstand Café and in The Post self-service restaurant. Meanwhile, our public bars are located in The Circle next to the parade ring and in the Grandstand itself. Should you have any queries on any of the above, feel free to call into the Race Day office located next to the turnstiles where a member of the team will be happy to assist.

Our next raceday, the Yeomanstown Stud Irish EBF Stakes Raceday, takes place on Wednesday evening July 23rd and we look set for another super evening of racing, BBQ and live music from Spring Break. Visit naasracecourse.com for some great value hospitality packages.

Enjoy your evening!

On behalf of Naas GAA, I'm thrilled to welcome you all to our annual race-day event! Today has become a staple in the Naas GAA social calendar, thanks to our loyal and active supporter base who make this event such a success.

First off, a huge thank you to our sponsors. Your generous support is crucial in driving our efforts forward. We're fortunate to have a wealth of talent in the Club right now, and the funds raised today are vital in furthering the success we've enjoyed over the past few years.

A big shoutout to Naas Racecourse and Lily & Wild for the fantastic hospitality We are privileged to have such a great partnership with Naas Racecourse. Their first-class facilities and superb staff make this event and venue a pleasure to attend.

Planning and organizing such an event requires a driving force. For our race day, that comes in the form of the extremely diligent, charismatic Dave Fitzgerald. Dave has assembled and led a team of dedicated individuals who have put together the fabulous list of attendees and prizes we have today. Special thanks to Adrian Travers, Joe McAndrews, Julanne Flanagan, Padraig McManus, Pat Beirne, and Richie Ormsby for their significant contributions to the cause.

Finally, thank you all for being here today I hope you have a fantastic time and a bit of luck along the way!

RACE VERDICT

Backing Ballydoyle’s Wootton Bassett 2yos has proved to be profitable this season (13/27) and Cactus will be popular but her pedigree suggests she may need further than this. One of three for Donnacha O’Brien, MONTE VISTA showed clear promise at Cork on debut and may be able to get her head in front on this stiffer track. The debutantes Eat Pray Run, Tornado Kiss and By The Lake appeal on paper and are worth a market check. [Dave Stephens]

RACE VERDICT

THE PIPER’S CALL (nap) ran a huge race on debut at the Curragh and the form has been franked. He should be difficult to beat with a repeat of that. Of those with experience, the Ger Lyons’ pair Sir Alfie and Howd’yadoit look the chief dangers and any market support for the newcomers Just A City Boy and Ridersinthesky should be noted. RACE VERDICT

Top-weight Carrigans Grove is an obvious starting point and makes plenty of appeal with Robyn DonaghueLeahy’s claim a major positive. However, slight preference is for JACKANDTHEFOX, a clear second at Fairyhouse recently where he had American In Paris behind in third. Annie Lavinia continues to frustrate but this near-side draw could suit her, having hung right last time. [Alan Hewison] Source: Racing Post

At every meeting there are specially qualified equine veterinary surgeons on duty to look after the well-being of all the horses racing. There is a vet in attendance at the start of each race who follows the horses throughout the race and is quickly on hand if a casualty occurs. It is normal procedure to erect screens around any horse receiving veterinary treatment. This allows the veterinary surgeon some privacy to fully assess the horses’ injuries and racegoers should not assume the worst if screens are erected around an injured horse. The Blue Cross ambulance is always present to transport the horse back to the stable yard for further treatment if necessary. A secondary veterinary surgeon is in attendance in the stable yard to assess and treat any horse requiring such attention post race. The horses’ welfare is always our priority.

RACE VERDICT

Three newcomers here so any market moves should be noted. However, it seems prudent to concentrate on two of the winners in the field. DAYTONA finished out his race really strongly at the Curragh, giving the impression he’ll relish this longer trip, and is preferred to runaway Down Royal winner North Coast. [Alan Hewison]

RACE VERDICT

The Gowran race won by Casheldale Lass could be the key piece of form here. She had a few of today’s rivals behind, including LISNADILL, who is now 12lb better off and she might be able to turn that form around upped in trip. Whats New and Amavasya shouldn’t be far away and Undefeatable also has to be considered if turned out quickly. Churchill Gale could potentially go well at a likely bigger price. RACE VERDICT

An interesting race. Potential is taken over experience here in the shape of FINGERPAINT, who created a good impression at the Curragh and who could be a stakes filly in time. Mathan can be forgiven his last run and looks a danger, while top-weight Storm Piece, in the same ownership as the selection, should go well. [Alan Hewison] Source: Racing Post
