Estimating your costs
As you plan your budget for graduate school, there are several factors to consider:
DIRECT COSTS
• Tuition is set annually, with a per credit hour rate listed on the Student Financial Services site. Limited programs, such as the MS in Accounting/MBA, have a flat rate.
• Fees vary by program.
• If you’re studying full-time in Boston, Massachusetts, state law says you must have health insurance. You’ll automatically be enrolled in the Northeastern University Student Health Plan (NUSHP), which you can waive if you have comparable US-based coverage.*
INDIRECT COSTS
• Indirect costs may vary but include housing, food, transportation, books, and supplies.
• If you choose electives that involve global travel, you’ll have additional expenses.
• Your housing and living expenses will vary based on your budget and preferences.
Understanding your options
There are many ways to fund your graduate education at D’Amore-McKim, based on your eligibility, including:
SCHOLARSHIPS
Numerous scholarships are available, each with its own requirements, award amount, and disbursement terms. If you pursue a degree-granting program, D’Amore-McKim will automatically consider you for merit scholarships at the time of admission. No separate application is required.
FEDERAL DIRECT UNSUBSIDIZED LOANS
You can apply for federal student loans in the form of a Direct Unsubsidized Loan if you are an eligible graduate student enrolled at least half-time in a qualifying program of study. Application instructions are on the next page.
SUPPLEMENTAL LOANS
Many private lending institutions may offer educational loan options. Compare borrowing and repayment terms to see which lender or loan program may be your best option.

PAYMENT PLAN Northeastern offers a zero-interest payment plan that allows you to divide your educational costs into smaller, more manageable installments. This option may reduce your need for loans or other funding.
WORK-BASED FINANCING OPTIONS
You can earn money toward your graduate education through graduate assistantships, on-campus student employment, corporate residency, graduate co-ops, and work-study.
EMPLOYER SUPPORT Many employers offer tuition benefits for employees pursuing graduate study.

Applying for U.S. Federal Aid
U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens may access federally funded financial aid through unsubsidized loans or need-based work-study. The first step in determining your eligibility for federal financial aid is to file a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
HOW TO APPLY
• File your annual FAFSA as early as possible to be considered for all available funding.
• Northeastern University’s school code is 002199.
• MS in Accounting/MBA students should know that their first year of study covers two financial aid years. As a result, you will need to file a FAFSA for two financial aid terms.
• Learn more at studentaid.gov
FEDERAL STUDENT LOANS
• Based on your FAFSA submission, you may be eligible for a federal direct, unsubsidized student loan.
• Note that annual and lifetime loan borrowing limits exist, and interest rates are set annually.
• Learn more at studentaid.gov
WORK-STUDY
• If you demonstrate financial need as determined by the FAFSA you may be granted work-study eligibility to pursue part-time employment.
• This is a way to earn money for your expenses throughout the school year.
Aid for international students
As an international student, you may not be eligible for federal student aid, but there are still several financing options available to you:
• Apply for scholarships, private loans, and student employment, depending on eligibility.
• Be automatically considered for merit-based scholarships when you apply for a degree program; no application is necessary.
