Back to Coventry An animation based on live action
Character Design
As an international student, I would like to record my two years study and living time at Coventry at the end of my study. This video is an animation based on live action where I introduced a fictional character to show my impression of Coventry.
Watch the full animation At the beginning of this animation, I created the titles to salute the basic bouncing ball action which I learned at the my first lesson. Before the making process, I spent several weeks on idling among the city to recall my memories with Coventry and find out the beauty of it. After that, I draw up a shooting plan based on my previous observation which includes photographing the story board, and then I begin to picture the movements they may have in my animation from the story board. Many pieces memories suddenly came tumbling down on top of me, everything my life had been since the two years, such as the whole night in the library, Friday night’s smelly streets, and lonely sculpture in the midnight on the city center. They begin to move and they are telling me an integral story. Additionally, I chose a lazy leisurely feeling Chinese style music which present my impression of Britain as my background music.
BRAIN This work is created for 11 Second Club Competition in November and it is ranked in the top 30% by the sponsor. This animation is made basing on an 11 second sound record, where two persons are arguing with each other, provided by the sponsor. I imaged this story happens in a man’s brain so I used a full-length shot to display the path into a person’s brain from his nose. There are two guys who are controller of the brain arguing that they cannot tolerate with this terrible environment caused by owners’unhealthy habits such as staying up late, smoking, and etc..

Storyboard of Brain
Drawing from Life I always carry a sketch book with me wherever I go for capturing those shiny points of my daily life. Every detail of our life worth to be memorized, and the experience is so fabulous that every time I found out those details of my life which I have never noticed before from my sketch would grant me an ideal platform to get inspirations.
It was the craziest thing I have ever did with my friends. He took off his clothes and sat on the stairs in his home with a little light, and I begun to sketch his body.
The light can help artists accomplish their work better. These paintings are my attempt to apply light.
I prefer to capture those scenes with special characters, such as these traditional Chinese buildings
This is a famous traveling point of my hometown, and I use this painting to miss it.
I have tried to test where my limits are, so I spent weeks on this painting. This is a pencil drawing. I lay a crumpled paper on a floor, and then draw a little of each day to challenge myself, creating this painting.
I also like to paint with marker pens on account of their colorful present on the paper.
Environment desigin
This is a sky city which was built above the water after the continually rise of sea levels caused by global warming. People are forced to leave their main land and start to live at this concrete junction supported by industrial machineries. Design Tools: 3D Max

This is an ancient Chinese legend monkey named Sun Wukong. I transferred it into a mechanic form for adapting new world in the future and getting more power.

This is a future mechanic warrior
This is my vision of a machanic child. His parents are aliens who left the child on Earth. When he was growing up, he was taken to study by the Academy of Sciences. This was his struggle to escape from the Academy.

Prince and Princess of Ruins Country
This illustration is based on the description in Invisible Cities from Italo Calvino. Olinda is certainly not the only city that grows in concentric circles, like tree trunks which each year add one more ring.
PHOTOGRAPHY As a photographer, I also applied my drawing abilities into my photos for creating a different angle from the normal daily life.
