Surgical Technology is an interdisciplinary course designed to introduce students to the essential principles and practices of assisting in surgical procedures. The course covers sterilization techniques, surgical instrumentation, patient preparation, operating room protocols, and aseptic techniques. Students will gain an understanding of the surgical teams roles and responsibilities, as well as develop skills in setting up sterile fields, handling surgical tools, and ensuring the safety and efficiency of the operating environment. Emphasis is placed on critical thinking, ethical considerations, and effective communication within the surgical setting to promote optimal patient outcomes.
