Psychophysiology is the scientific study of the relationship between psychological processes and physiological responses in the human body. This course explores how emotions, thoughts, behaviors, and mental states influence bodily systems such as the nervous, endocrine, cardiovascular, and muscular systems. Students will learn about methods used to measure physiological variables such as heart rate, skin conductance, brain activity (EEG), and muscle tension and how these measurements relate to stress, emotion, perception, and cognition. By examining current research and practical applications, the course provides a foundation for understanding the biological bases of behavior and the integration of mind and body in health and disease.
