This course provides an introduction to the fundamental principles of microbiology with an emphasis on topics relevant to allied health professionals. Students will explore the structure, function, and classification of microorganisms, including bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites, as well as their roles in human health and disease. The course covers concepts such as microbial metabolism, genetics, pathogenicity, immunology, epidemiology, and infection control. Through laboratory exercises and case studies, students will gain practical experience in aseptic techniques, microscopy, identification of pathogens, and understanding the impact of microorganisms on public health and clinical practice.
