Marine Ecosystems explores the diverse and dynamic environments found in the worlds oceans, from coastal regions to the deep sea. The course examines the physical, chemical, and biological processes that shape marine habitats, as well as the variety of organisms ranging from microscopic plankton to large marine mammals that inhabit them. Students will study food webs, energy flow, nutrient cycles, and the interactions between species. Emphasis is also placed on the impact of human activities on marine ecosystems, conservation efforts, and the role of marine ecosystems in global climate regulation. This course provides a foundation for understanding the complexity and importance of the worlds oceanic systems.
