Course Introduction
Diagnostic Microbiology is a course designed to provide students with comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in the identification, isolation, and characterization of microorganisms responsible for infectious diseases. Topics covered include laboratory techniques for culturing and detecting bacteria, viruses, fungi, and parasites, as well as modern molecular methods such as PCR and immunoassays. Students learn about specimen collection, biosafety, antimicrobial susceptibility testing, and the interpretation of laboratory results, equipping them with critical competencies for roles in clinical and research laboratories.
