Diagnostic Imaging Physics explores the fundamental principles underlying various medical imaging modalities, including X-ray, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), ultrasound, and nuclear medicine. The course covers the physics of image formation, interaction of radiation with matter, image quality metrics, and safety considerations. Students will gain an understanding of instrumentation and technology used in clinical settings, as well as methods for optimizing image acquisition and minimizing patient risk. Emphasis is placed on the quantitative analysis of imaging systems and on the physical principles that guide interpretation and technological development in diagnostic radiology.
