School Lunch By Charlotte Regnault & Elina Frank
Due to Covid, all meals have been supplied free of charge. We are very grateful that the school has provided free lunches for all students. However, after some issues with the food, people have expressed negative opinions. We made a Google Form where people will share stories, thoughts, and ideas for the school lunch. We value privacy, so here are a few people that agreed to share their opinions: "It's not nutritious or filling enough for growing bodies, especially middle schoolers. Students rely on the food to function and learn better, throughout the day."
“Since I'm in house 4, my teachers make me wait for the second bell and by that time, all of the pizza is gone and I have to go with the stale, american hoagie.”
“I really admire the cafeteria staff hard work and I appreciate the fact that the cafeteria is giving out food for free, but I think we could do some improvements. They should make some actual good, quality food and add in actual ingredients. Ex: Instead of butter add REAL cheese. Also, maybe adding in some vegan/vegetarian food would be nice." 4
Here are some experiences people have had with the lunches: "First off I want to share that I'm vegetarian. One day on the school lunch menu, it said cheese pizza, and so I thought I would have that for lunch. Well no, there were hamburgers instead. I had to have a hard piece of bread for lunch that day." "Me and my friend were eating the mac and cheese and we had to go to the nurse because it made our stomachs hurt and I couldn't come to school for 3 days because it made me sick."
"Once, I didn't pack lunch hoping to get school lunch. But then there was pork in the lunch, I don't eat pork, so I didn't have and lunch that day. :("
Here are some ideas people came up with to make it better: “Adding in vegan/vegetarian options” For all those that are going to get mad that we are being disrespectful to the hard working staff:

Your Musical Update The movie adaptation of Dear Evan Hansen has many wondering which musical is next. Some have mixed feelings about the it saying, the movie ruined the musical. The actors have also faced some serious backlash about various things in the movie.
It’s confirmed that there will be a movie for Wicked with Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, and Ariana Grande as Glinda. This is super exciting for fans of Wicked and musical fans in general because we will all get to see Wicked on the big screen. Sadly, probably not immediately because filming starts in June 2022 in In Sky Studios which is in Elstree, Berkshire.

New sports in the 2022 Winter Olympics Emil Kapur, 7th grade Starting on February 4th, this year’s Winter Olympics will be held in Beijing, China. This is the first ever Winter Olympics being held in China, and along with a new location, new events are being added this year. In total, there are seven new Winter Olympic events being added that you should keep an eye out for. Female Monobob: A very interesting new Olympic event is the female only Monobob. This is a sport based on the known Winter Olympic event Bobsledding. A Bobsleigh is defined as a mechanically steered and braked sled, and there has been a Bobsleigh event for every Winter Olympic games since 1924. However, it has always been played as a team sport, so the Monobob is the same thing but instead of competing in a team, it’s an individual female contest. Mixed team ski jumping: This sport is also a new event premiering in this year’s Winter Olympic games. Ski jumping has been previously known in the Winter Olympics. That has been a sport since 1924 (the first Winter Olympic games). However, since that was a men’s only event, mixed team ski jumping is an event in which there are two male athletes and two female athletes competing in ski jumping in the same team. Men’s big air skiing: Known as ski big air, this new Winter Olympic event is a contest in which the competitors have to show off their best ski tricks. This event has been played in other big ski contests, but it is making its debut in the Olympic games this February. Women’s big air skiing: This is the same competition as the above men’s big air skiing but this one is women’s only. Mixed team relay in short track speed skating: In an arena in Beijing, a brand new faced paced speed skating competition. For each country, two men and two women will compete as a team to try to win this heart racing contest. The two women will complete 2.5 laps (200 feet) first, followed by the men competing the same distance. Mixed team snowboard cross: Snowboarding is an interesting addition to the Winter Olympic games because it is going to be played as a team unlike how it is usually played in other competitions. In its Olympic debut, there will be a team of a woman and a man competing in a relay race. The man will start first and when he’s done his round the woman will be able to start. Freestyle skiing mixed team aerial: This mixed gender team sport is entering the Winter Olympics for the first time. This will be a fun sport to watch since it is a good mix between speed, agility, aerobatics, and aerial tricks. It is the first time that this sport will be performed as a team sport, but solo freestyle skiing was in the 2018 Winter Olympic games.

The Secret Story of IZ*ONE

IZ*ONE is a K-pop girl group that debuted through the Mnet survival show Produce 48. The 12 Japanese and Korean members, chosen by ranking in the show, consist of Wonyoung, Sakura, Minju, Chaeyeon, Chaewon, Yujin, Yuri, Hitomi, Nako, Eunbi, Yena, and Hyewon. They debuted in 2018 with the song La Vie En Rose, which was a huge success, getting them to #6 on the Billboard World Digital Song Sales chart and #1 on three major South Korean charts. After this, more immense success followed with their albums Color*Iz and Heart*Iz. All of a sudden, in July of 2019, it was revealed that the director of the idol produce shows including Produce 48 rigged the voting in order to have the members of their liking debut. After this, the group X1, which debuted from Produce X 101, disbanded. However, IZ*ONE did not stop releasing amazing music and breaking record after record. Their success was put to a halt, though, when they disbanded in 2021. It was expected that they were going to disband, because IZ*ONE was a temporary group anyway. Fans were left saddened as they longed for the happy moments they had with their beloved idols. Even though they disbanded, you still can check out their music! Listen to some of their hit songs like Secret Story of the Swan, Panorama, and Fiesta.

Earth Froze Overnight? Temperatures would reach -50 °C ( -58 °F) and the oceans would be covered in ice. Only near the equator, or areas with lots of heat, could liquid water still exist near the surface. Everything would be frozen. Most of life on Earth would die. People who already live in cold climates would have warm clothing, but other people would freeze to death. Heating wouldn’t be available and if you did have it, you couldn't go outside. You would have to wear about 15 lb of clothing. If you had any exposed skin it would be frostbitten in less than 5 minutes. Unfortunately this situation might be realistic because climate change is not slowing down. To prevent this scary reality then we will have to change our views about climate change and act to prevent it.

What is your Favorite Color ? Navy blue! It was one of the main colors of my baseball uniform at The College of New Jersey. If you had to be on an island with 5 things/people (not including essential items) what would they be? My wife, my Nintendo Switch, Momo (my cat), Pacey (my other cat), and a hoagie from Hoagie Haven. What Color is your Toothbrush? Can we have a picture of it? Right now I have 2 toothbrushes: one is blue, and the other is gray. I’ll get you a picture later…?
Mr. Goldenbroight told me about the St. Baldrick’s Fundraiser for pediatric cancer, and I wanted to help! I wanted to continue the tradition of raising money for worthy causes at Princeton Middle School. What is your Favourite Ice Cream Flavor? My favorite ice cream flavor is Oatmeal Cookie Chunk from Ben and Jerry’s. They don’t sell the flavor by the pint anymore! Do you like K-Pop? I am not the most knowledgeable person about K-Pop, but the BTS songs I’ve heard are fun! They’re a really talented and fun group. What do you like most about the school? I love having fun and joking with my students and hanging out with my coworkers and friends. Even though it can be tough to be a teacher, working here feels like 22 home.
How long have you been teaching? This is my 7th year teaching overall; 2 years at Franklin Middle School in Franklin, NJ and 5 years in Princeton. Were you an 8th Grade student of Ms Porello? I was! She was also my homeroom teacher. Spanish usually was one of my favorite classes, and I really enjoyed Señora’s class. How did you choose your career? I actually did not know I wanted to try being a teacher until I was 19 years old! But I remembered all the good experiences I had and teachers I really respected, and all the things I wish were better about school as a kid, and it encouraged me to try it out in college. 10 years later, I am still teaching!

Once You Gensh-‘in’, You Can’t Gensh-’out’ By Sophie W. 7th Genshin Impact is an action role-playing video game that was released in 2020 by Chinese developer miHoYo. Instantly, the game was a hit and became very popular. It features countless anime-like playable characters who each use different weapons and use a different element: either Geo, Hydro, Pyro, Electro, Anemo, or Cryo. Genshin also has a vast storyline, smooth animations, and beautiful graphics. Players can explore the vast world of Teyvat, and help save different cities, meet new characters, level up their account and their own characters, play with their friends using co-op, and fight enemies. But perhaps the most attractive part of the video game are the characters and the wishing mechanic. Players can use primogems: a type of currency that can be found in chests, rewarded from quests, or bought, to wish for their favorite characters or weapons. When wishing, or pulling, players are able to get 3-star weapons, 4-star characters or weapons, and 5-star characters or weapons. There is a function called pity, which is where you reach 90 total pulls without a 5-star and then get one. This gacha mechanic is a big money maker, and with all the different banners that have different characters to pull for, and new characters being released every update, Genshin Impact is getting more and more popular! That’s why once you Genshin-in, you can’t Gensh-out!
