This short work for guitar and flute is inspired by my budgie, who goes by the name of Orbit.

This is the first piece I wrote at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. Saxolo focuses on the aspects of melodic and thematic development. It explores diversity of the saxophone by having both classical and mild jazz elements throughout, bridging a gap between the two genres.

Groove to the Grain is a playful exploration of the marimba, discovering the instrument’s voice, colours, and expressive possibilities. The music unfolds through lively, interlocking patterns and mischievous chromatic lines that weave together to create a driving groove. The piece moves across the full range of the instrument, highlighting the bright and sparkling clarity of the upper register alongside the deep and resonant warmth of the bass. This piece celebrates the marimba’s wide tonal landscape, revealing its character through energetic gestures and playful phrasing.

The Music Box is composed for a piano trio (piano, vio , and cello). As the title suggests, this piece was inspired by music boxes. The piece starts with a piano solo – depicting the original tune of the music box. The violin and cello are then introduced as one gets lost in the music. The piece then concludes with the original piano solo as the music box winds down and the gentle tune slowly fades.

This piece consists of a main theme and 3 variations. Whilst it may seem like a narrative isn't prevalent when hearing the title, there absolutely is one. One I will keep to myself, feel free to make up your own narrative as you listen to this story from the opening chords to the last cadence.
The three-movement work is inspired by how the sound of a piccolo can bring forth the the symbolic imagery of a white picket fence.
