Matthew Wood Conductor
An artist of great versatility, Matthew has conducted symphonic, opera, ballet, and contemporary music repertoires across the globe.
In the UK, his engagements have included the London Philharmonic Orchestra, Philharmonia, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Philharmonic, Royal Ballet Covent Garden, and the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, where he held the position of Associate Conductor. In Australia, Wood has conducted numerous state orchestras and served as Artistic Director and Chief Conductor of the Darwin Symphony Orchestra. Matthew has also been a regular guest conductor at the Royal Swedish Opera Stockholm, the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland, Orquesta Sinfónica Nacional de Chile, and Orquesta Clásica Santa Cecilia in Madrid.
Matthew made his Swedish debut with performances of Philip Glass’ Satyagraha with Folkoperan Stockholm and returned to the company for additional performances throughout 2017 and 2018 including touring with the company to Copenhagen’s Folketeatret and to New York at the Brooklyn Academy of Music (BAM) New York. The glowing reviews praised the “clarity of musical lines and delicacy of intent … in the disciplined hands of Australian conductor Matthew Wood, who paces everything perfectly and shapes the long, slowly changing vocal lines with flair and imagination” (Clive Paget, Limelight Magazine).
In 2021, Matthew was invited to take the post of Senior producer and Head of Artistic Programming and Production with the BBC National Orchestra and Chorus of Wales, where he worked to redefine the parameters of classical music programming. In 2025 Matthew returned to Australia to take up the position of Director – Artistic Planning with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra.
Matthew is also frequently engaged as a conducting teacher. He has been a regular guest lecturer and conductor at the Royal Northern College of Music, where he held the prestigious position of Conducting Fellow.

Myiesha Maisuria Harp
Emerging artist Myiesha Maisuria has toured Europe twice, once as principal harpist of the Queensland Youth Symphony in 2023, and again as principal harpist of the Australian Youth Orchestra in 2025. She has gained valuable experience by playing in some of the most renowned halls around the world such as Austria’s Musikverein, Amsterdam’s Conzertgebouw and the Sydney Opera House. Her skilful orchestral playing has been recognised as ‘sensitive’ and ‘beautiful’ in reviews on Arts Hub and ABC Classic. She is completing her third year of the Bachelor of Music program at the Queensland Conservatorium, in which she recently was named a winner of the university’s annual Concerto Competition.

Myiesha is grateful to be under the tutelage of awardwinning soloist and chamber musician Emily Granger, who is the principal harpist of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra. As an experienced orchestral musician, Myiesha has performed as principal harp of the Queensland Symphony Orchestra, the Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra and Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra. Keen to explore a variety of different genres, Myiesha has also played in musicals produced by Lynch & Paterson, and in the 4MBS Opera Gala with Ensemble Q.
Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra
The Conservatorium Symphony Orchestra consists of approximately 90 of the most talented young instrumentalists in Queensland. The orchestra, from its home at the Griffith University South Bank campus, performs an annual series of orchestral concerts, large choral works, and operatic and musical theatre productions, in addition to a range of creative collaborations both on site as well as in the wider community.
Students in the Queensland Conservatorium orchestral program have the unique opportunity to perform under the baton of a variety of conductors, instilling a flexibility required in the profession. Resident conductor Peter Morris is joined each year by distinguished guest conductors from around the world, providing students with the rich depth of experience they will find when entering the profession. Notable guest conductors have included Sir Neville Marriner, Peter Sculthorpe, Jessica Cottis, Nicholas Braithwaite, Richard Mills, Natalia Raspopova, Larry Rachleff, Peter Luff, Johannes Fritzsch and Elim Chan, to name a few.
