Bridge Inspection
Hi all,
On the 16-17th May, there will be a bridge inspection taking place by Zancott Knight in regards to a load assessment for the bridge This load assessment has been requested for quite some time to find out the load limits the bridge is capable of in its current state
The plan is to conduct under bridge/from the water inspections on the 16th, it’s expected there will be no traffic impeded on this day The 17th they will be conducting inspections on the bridge itself This will involve walking the bridge and taking photos Planned time of the inspection is around 4 hours They have requested to have the bridge shut for this time however due to the business levels of the island we have pushed back on this and requested the bridge to be shut for periods of time between 20-30 minutes to an hour. The bridge will then be open to allow cars through and then shut again I will be in touch with the project manager today and will push for as short a disruption as possible but the more we move them from the bridge the longer the inspection will take We will have traffic management on rabbit island and Wilsons from CP1 If you are able to make your patrons aware that there may be delays on this day that would be great.
When: 16th and 17th May
Time: Inspection due to begin at 0900
Info: Expect delays between 20-60 minutes on 17th May (we will aim for the shorter side)
Any questions please let me know

Men’s Pennant Update
Pennant update week 7
We only had the one team play this week as Handicap East had the bye and hosted pennant at Queenscliff. The course once again was very well presented and received very favourable comments Our Division Four team travelled to RACV Torquay to take on Inverleigh. Although this was a dead rubber it was important to go out on a high with a good win This happened with a solid 4 1/2 to 2 1/2 win over Inverleigh
I witnessed some very big hitting on the day with both Murray Warren and Dave Thomas all but driving the par four ninth hole Murray Warren was also down early in his match even to the point of being four down with five to go but finished strongly to halve his match Very strong wins for both Mike McSween and Bernie Crane capped off the day
The individual results were as follows:
Division 4 defeated Inverleigh 4 1/2 to 2 1/2
Mick Havelberg Lost to Shane Marcakis 2 Up Michael McSween Def Tavae Sauni 5/3 Bernie Crane Def Spencer Alexander 6/5 Dave Thomas Def Randal Johns 3/2 James Gladman Lost to Andrew Bruenjes 2/1 Murray Warren halved with Nathan Sharrock Kirk Whelan Def Michael Hedger 2/1
Both teams will be playing finals on Sunday 19 May Handicap East will be playing against Clifton Springs at Lara GC while Division Four will be playing at Queenscliff against Ocean Grove. Yes a home game. It would be great to see as many members as possible out supporting both teams on the day If you live in Geelong it’s only a short trip out to Lara. If you’re living on the Bellarine come out and watch your fellow members representing the club Tee Times on the day are still to be confirmed but should be between 8 and 9 am
