From the Clubhouse And Friday rolls around again!

We are still seeing fantastic guest and visitor numbers at the club. Everyone has wonderful things to say about the course and how fabulous it is over here, which is no secret to us!! Its great to see that the Queenscliff GC name is getting recognised.

A few things to take note of : If you are planning on playing at Lonsdale Links as part of the clubs local agreement you will need to request a new letter of introduction for 2024, you can do this via emailing Nicci or asking Fraser, Cindel or Angus to print one out for you.

Three things you need to know about the new changes in GA handicaps - Read about it HERE Please email your course photos or any photos and stories that could be added to our weekly update to nicci@queenscliffgolfclub.com.au - as many as you can share!!! She would love to hear stories of the club’s history (and photos if possible) along with weekly happenings.

The Course Report.....

If you’ve played over the past week you are probably aware that the 7th fairway has turned into an Ibis restaurant. These birds are peeling the turf back to get to the Cockchafer Grub. The Grubs are living in the root zone of the turf.

The product that we will be using to tackle the grubs requires immediate irrigation. Because our fairways are not irrigated we will need to hand water with hoses after the product is applied. Its important to do this while there are no golfers on the course.

We thank you for you understanding and patience while we deal with this challenge.

The ideal time to spray for these Grubs is late spring/early summer, when the eggs are hatching and the young larvae is forming. As part of our 2023 schedule, we did apply the product to the fairways that were affected last season. The 7th was not included in this. We hope to have good results on this fairway, even though we will be spraying late summer. Only time will tell.

Lifecycle of the Black Beetle (Cockchafer Grub)

Geoff Newley and Kevin Flynn collecting bottles and cans for the Lions Club Today they had a record haul of 1400 bottles!!!

They have been collecting now for 6 weeks and have made $680!

Volunteers Needed!

We are on the lookout for regular volunteers to be part of a roster to man the drinks cart on Saturday.
