FEBRUARY 2024

It was great to see a few out and about on Tuesday at the Working Bee. Not only do these days help take some of the load off our Course staff, it also builds comradery and mate ship within our Members If you missed the chance to be involved with this one, we will be holding another later in the year Or contact Peter McSween if you would like to be involved with the Monday Volunteers.
Please remember that the club house will be closed from 4pm today for a Wedding We ask that all Members pre - plan and have equipment and drinks organised and purchased prior to heading out for your Friday afternoon hit. Thank you for your understanding
The Queenscilff Golf Club Annual Fundraiser Golf Day, is only 3 weeks away. This is always a popular event, be sure to get your entry forms in to avoid missing out

Rob AulichQGC‘s future Pennant player?! Meet one of our youngest Members! Concentrating very hard on his putts and looking especially sharp in Club Merchandise! Love your work Tyler!
Firstly, I would like to apologise for the daytime use of the sprinklers and hoses that have been on around the course the past week or so Watering with the hoses and sprinklers on stands is a long process for my staff We do not have the luxury that other clubs have being able to irrigate these parts on the course overnight Finding the perfect day and time to do this is non existent, so they have to be on during play We are doing everything we can to keep our high standards and playability across the course knowing there is no rain on the long range forecast. Thank you to those who are understanding of this minor inconvenience.
Our Island is very unique to any other golf course in the area We deal with environmental and wildlife issues on a daily basis There has been a lot of animal activity lately, especially around the greens as they are searching for moisture
(See photo) Here is a freshly cut surround the next day, been scratched up by animals during the night
(See photo) Here is a group of ducks enjoying the moisture on the 11th green The duck droppings then cause dark green spots across the green
Because our environment is so unique I keep our chemical use to a minimum. Natural practices are tried first and if this doesn’t help then chemical is the last resort Most other superintendents don’t even have to think about what wildlife will be walking or chewing over the recently sprayed chemical. It is very important to keep our islands environment as natural and safe as possible for the wildlife.
Hope everyone has a great weekend golfing out on the course
JakeThe second and final pennant practice will be held at Queenscliff on Sunday 25 Feb with first tee off at 0824. Could all those playing be at Queenscliff GC by 0800 so that we can arrange groups for the day.
This may be against the Lonsdale Links pennant squad but this is still to be confirmed.
This practice is for both the Division Four and Handicap teams

The event raised over $9K for the national heart foundation and raised awareness about the critical role first responders have in the community.

Following several reports of people slipping on the bridge over the drain on the 7th hole, Monday Volunteers, Dave and Femie installed some non-slip tape this week Hopefully this resolves this slippery issue! Thank you Dave & Femie.
A friendly reminder about bunker rakes. Please make sure you return the rake to the bottom of the bunker we are pretty certain that no one would appreciate being in this position
