Ozone Park resident Kam Mei Koo, 93, died last Friday in a two-alarm fire caused by a lithium-ion battery, the FDNY confirmed. Witnesses saw firefighters examining a charred e-bike at the scene. At the City Council, some legislation to thoroughly vet the operation and storage of the batteries has been enacted and more remains on the table.
