Five hundred people attended a symbolic groundbreaking last Friday for the $150 million expansion of Jamaica Hospital Medical Center’s Emergency Department. Once the project is completed, the Richmond Hill health institution will be able to serve up to 150,000 patients annually. Several elected officials were in attendance, including Gov. Hochul, who said, it was time to make transformative changes in Southeast Queens. Bruce Flanz, JHMC president and CEO, said the hospital will have more ICUs and trauma bays to better serve patients.
