TYPES OF ACTIVITY Guest Speaker/Event Panellist Career Insight Talks
The Careers, Employability and Skills team provides support and guidance to students across a range of career pathways, including advice on the recruitment processes they may encounter when securing employment during their studies and after graduation. For these sessions, delivered centrally and in the schools, we look for talent acquisition professionals to assist in providing real world insights and practices.
Alumni Talks
Alumni events are an opportunity for graduates from Queen’s to connect and network with students who are passionate about pursuing careers in their field or sector and are a great opportunity to also promote the organisations represented. We ask guest alumni to share their journey from studying to employment and beyond, helping to inspire and educate current students about the possibilities in their area of interest. Sessions/ talks cover a range of disciplines, and events are often delivered in partnership with our school teams.
Changemaker Career Discovery Series
The Changemaker Series connects students who are motivated by purpose, social impact and positive societal change with organisations and professionals working across sectors such as Crime and Justice, Education, Sustainability, Social Enterprise, Humanitarianism and Public Policy. Speakers are invited to share sectoral insights, highlight emerging career pathways, and inspire the next generation of socially conscious professionals. The series also offers a platform to raise awareness of your organisation, engage with talented students from a range of disciplines, and contribute to meaningful conversations about the skills, values and leadership needed to address today's social challenges.
Guest Speaker/Event Panellist Creative and Cultural Industries Event Series
The Creative and Cultural Industries Series is designed to help students explore career opportunities in sectors that are often underrepresented within traditional graduate recruitment activity, including publishing, heritage, culture, libraries and archives, media, television and the creative industries. This speaking opportunity involves sharing sectoral insights, demystifying career pathways and highlighting the skills, experiences and opportunities that support career entry and progression. Students gain a clearer understanding of the diverse opportunities available, while you can connect with emerging talent and raise awareness of the opportunities you offer within the wider sector.
She Leads Programme
She Leads is an intensive leadership development programme designed to help female students build confidence, develop their leadership identity and prepare to lead with confidence in their future careers. You will have the opportunity to share your leadership journey, reflect on key lessons from your career, and inspire students to recognise their own potential. Through these insights and conversations, participants develop the confidence, networks and aspirations to pursue leadership opportunities in their chosen fields.
Business Challenge Real World Consultancy Programme
The Real-World Consultancy Programme enables organisations to present a live business challenge for Queen's students to tackle over three days. Working in multidisciplinary teams, students apply a structured design thinking approach to develop innovative solutions and recommendations. You will provide a project brief and nominate a representative to act as a mentor throughout the programme, supporting student teams, sharing industry insights, and helping students understand the practical considerations involved in addressing real-world challenges. In return, you gain fresh perspectives on your business challenge, raise awareness of your organisation and sector, and contribute to the development of students' professional and employability skills.
Stock Market Challenge
The Stock Market Challenge is an interactive event that introduces students to the fast-paced world of financial markets through a competitive stock market simulation. Working in teams, students analyse market information, make investment decisions, and develop skills including strategic thinking, problem-solving, critical thinking, and teamwork. You will be invited to contribute to a panel discussion, sharing insights into careers in the financial sector as well as your professional experiences. You are also encouraged to offer an insight opportunity such as an office visit, or work shadowing experience, providing the winning students with valuable exposure to the sector and its career opportunities.
Net Zero Challenge Day
Shaping Northern Ireland’s Climate Future is a one-day sustainability innovation event that brings together students from all disciplines to tackle real-world climate challenges. Through employer-led briefings, students work in teams representing key stakeholders, including government, business, NGOs and citizen's, to develop practical solutions supporting Northern Ireland’s journey to net zero. The day features keynote speakers, employer insights into sustainability strategies, networking opportunities with industry professionals, and a competitive pitch session judged by business leaders and academics. Designed to inspire future careers in sustainability while generating fresh ideas for organisations, the event fosters collaboration between academia and industry to create actionable solutions for a greener future.

Employer Insight Visits help students bridge the gap between education and employment by bringing career pathways to life. Through structured workplace experiences, students gain practical insight into different industries, learn about the range of opportunities available to them, and build the knowledge needed to make confident career choices. For employers, these visits provide a valuable platform to showcase your organisation. By opening your doors to students, you can share your culture, values, projects and staff roles, helping young people understand both what you do and what sets you apart. The Employer Engagement team can help you shape the day of activity to strengthen connections with future talent and raise awareness of careers within your organisation and sector.
Spotlight on Law City Tour
The Spotlight on Law Tour offers students two days of in-person workplace visits to leading local and international law firms in Belfast. You will welcome students to your workplace, offering first-hand insight into day-to-day operations, specialist expertise, and opportunities within the legal profession. Students will also have the chance to explore career pathways, graduate roles, and placement opportunities through direct engagement with professionals. Organisations looking to support and inspire the next generation of legal talent are invited to express interest in getting involved.
Visit/Tour Host Life Sciences Tour
The Spotlight on Life Sciences Tour provides students with two days of inperson visits to organisations across the pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and medical devices sectors in Northern Ireland. By hosting a visit, you can showcase your work, share industry knowledge, and give students a clearer understanding of the diverse career options available within life sciences, including graduate and placement opportunities. Organisations committed to developing future talent and promoting careers in life sciences are invited to participate.
Public Sector Tour
The Public Sector Tour enables students to take part in workplace visits designed to showcase a range of career pathways within the public sector. You will provide insight into your role, responsibilities, and impact, while helping students understand a range of career pathways and opportunities within the public sector. Organisations interested in supporting and encouraging future public sector professionals are invited to get involved.
