In Leos Carax’s (Holy Motors) musical melodrama Annette, a seemingly perfect couple - a provocative stand-up comedian, Henry (Adam Driver) and internationally renowned opera singer Ann (Marion Cotillard) - live glamorous lives in Los Angeles.

However, when they welcome their daughter Annette into the world, her mysterious gifts will change their lives forever.

The Nest Screening from 10 September USA 2021 107 mins Dir: Sean Durkin Rory (Jude Law), an ambitious entrepreneur persuades his American wife, Allison (Carrie Coon), and their children to leave the comforts of suburban America and return to his native England during the 1980s. Rory re-joins his former firm and leases a centuries-old country manor, with grounds for Allison’s horses and a stable.

However, all is not as it seems and soon the promise of a lucrative new beginning starts to unravel and the couple has to face both the secrets and unwelcome truths that lie beneath the surface of their marriage.

In 1990s Scotland, a group of Catholic school girls get an opportunity to go into Edinburgh for a choir competition, but they’re more interested in drinking, partying and flirting with boys than progressing in the competition.

A charming comedy drama based upon the novel by Alan Warner.

We welcome Palestine Ambassador Husam Zomlot and Director Gillian Mosely to introduce the film, a Q&A follows the film.

A classic of out-there cinema which can be described as a mixture of HG Wells’ Island Of Dr Moreau, Dario Argento’s Suspiria and the dreamlike logic of David Lynch films.

Screening 18 & 19 September Jamaica 2006 100 mins Dir: Perry Henzell After Perry Henzell’s The Harder They Come put Jamaica on the cinematic map, it took another 8 years to finance the follow-up, but when the film laboratory closed down, the negatives were lost. To Henzell’s great delight the film was recently rediscovered. Susan is the American producer of a shampoo commercial being shot in Jamaica. When the star abandons the shoot, Susan sets out to find her, with charismatic local fixer Carl.

In this season we will be looking at some rare gems from the archives and compare them with contemporary representations of the black experience.

Exhibition On Screen: Raphael Revealed Screening 12 & 14 October Marking the 500th anniversary of Raphael’s death, the greatest exhibition ever held of his works took place in Rome.

This film of the exhibition provides a fresh look at this giant of the Renaissance, and shows why he is considered one of the all-time greats. The film includes unique footage of the ancient Rome that was such a powerful influence, including rare footage of Nero’s Golden House that Raphael himself visited.
