Do you know a woman that deserves recognition for their work with the community?
The Soroptimist Club in Beenleigh is currently searching for nominations of women who are quiet achievers in the Logan community, for the annual Stella Rickoff award.
The award is inspired by Stella Rickoff who was one of the original members of the club in 1988 and spent much of her life working to support people in the local community. Stella was a Soroptimist, a kind and generous person, who gave freely of herself to help her community in times of need. We are looking for someone who emulates her work in the community.
The Soroptimist Club in Beenleigh hopes to not only lift women that are lifting others but also to recognise the many community services that are supporting the women of Logan that people may not be aware of.
Nominations are now open for members of the Logan, Beenleigh and district communities to nominate an individual who they feel would
be worthy of this award. The nomination form can be found at https://forms.gle/ szFhQ5EWcJ6hDM6X8.
Finalists will be selected by a panel of members from SI Beenleigh, and then members of the Rickoff family will select the winner.
The winner will be announced at the Stella Rickoff Awards dinner, to be held at Club Beenleigh on Saturday, July 23rd, 2022. They will receive a badge, certificate and a cheque to the value of $500 made out to the charity of their choice.
Applicants need to be over 18 years of age and must accept the nomination. Nominations close on the 15th of July 2022 at 5 pm.
For more information about Soroptimist Club in Beenleigh and the work they do, visit their website, https://siswp.org/club-finder/13beenleigh-inc.html or their Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/sibeenleigh.
Welcome to the June issue of the Guides. Can I start by reflecting on the month of May, where at the Guides, it has been one of the busiest and important month since the start of publication.
We had the pleasure of hosting Safe Haven Community’s ‘World’s Biggest Dinner’ at the Monte Ale House where the house was packed with locals all in support of this amazing organisation, making donations, sharing stories and of course having fun! We thank all those who have donated their time, funds and spirit to the cause and in thanks,
your businesses profiles in this issue.
Following this important event was, of course the Federal election. We wish all those elected good health and may they work with the focus & goal of serving the community that have elected them. With rise in cost of living and insecurities of volatile market conditions, we look forward to again supporting each other and local businesses in Logan.
In this June issues, we are covering School holiday activity ideas for parents, and also some short trip ideas to help those regional communities after much… and continuing rain. Hope you enjoy reading this issue and continue to spread & share the magazine with your neighbours.
June!!

Bob Bones was an egg farmer in Gardner Road, Rochedale. He had several barns with cage birds in them, and one could buy eggs directly from him, although, of course, he sold most to Sunny Queen (formerly called the Queensland Egg Board).
It was always a fascinating experience to go to the farm, because he had an interest in old things.
On his property, there was a 150 year old hut he had brought in from somewhere past Warwick.
There were horse-drawn buggies of various kinds and veteran cars.
He used to take his draught horses and carts to the fetes held every year at Rochedale State School, and took people for rides around the oval. It was part of the fete fundraising.
He was a bachelor and lived very simply. He held out long after the other farms on that road (strawberry farms mostly) were sold to the developers, but eventually, his farm was also sold.
Seeing he was born in 1943, perhaps the hard work finally got too much for him, but I remember buying eggs from him for over 30 years.
Nhung and I were first introduced to Jaeneen, Executive Director of Safe Haven Community and Tania, the Queensland Regional Manager of White Lady Funerals through the Logan City Women in Business (LCWIB) meeting over a year ago.
When we were first introduced, we weren’t aware of the intricacies surrounding coercive control and domestic abuse that women (and men) have experienced and how Safe Haven Community works to prevent it and the support they provide.
So, when they announced they were launching the World’s Biggest Dinner Party on the 14th of May, we knew we wanted to get involved. You may also recognise Jaeneen and Tania on our cover of the April issue.
To show our support, we, Logan City Guides, hosted (along with many others!) a special dinner party at Monte's Ale House intending to raise $5,000 to donate to this worthy cause. We invited local businesses, councillors and members of the local community to come along to attend on the night.
The response was phenomenal! We were overwhelmed by the generosity of the Logan community. Over 70 people joined us on the night, taking part in the raffle and auction; while some of those who weren’t able to attend, donated auction items and funds to this worthy cause.
Throughout the night, guests listened to several

When it comes to buying a home there are some common emotions: Love, stress, excitement, and anxiety. These emotions are justified because, for most, buying a home will be the biggest investment ever made. Ensuring you are making the right decision is important.
Below, is a list of my top tips for staying sane & in charge of the process.
1. Get finance pre-approved: Talk to a broker/ banker to find out what you can afford & have pre-approval before signing a contract.
2. Making sure your concerns can be investigated by sensible contract conditions. For example, a due diligence condition may be used to investigate with council whether you can build a granny flat at the rear of the property like you might intend, and safely terminate the contract if you find you can not.
3. Do not rush into signing a contract. If you don’t know what you are looking at, or if you have questions, get them answered before you sign the contract. A Solicitor or Conveyancer may be able to answer simple questions or review the contract for you at little cost.
4. Use an experienced and well-reviewed conveyancer. This makes a huge difference to whether your property settles on time; how informed you are throughout the process; the stress you endure.
5. Ask Questions – This is so important, as the fear of the unknown creates the greatest stress. A good conveyancer should invite questions. If you’re ever unsure – ask!
6. Your conveyancer probably won’t ever see your property, so they will be unaware of it’s condition, location and any issues present. If you have specific concerns, highlight concerns early to your conveyancer so there is time to investigate. ie. Are the renovations council approved? Has this river view property ever flooded?
7. Know when to get house and contents insurance! In the recent floods, imagine finding yourself with an unconditional contract to a flood affected house.
uying or renting a home, in general, can be tricky, frustrating, confusing, exhausting, and can also lead to a variety of other emotions.
Buying or renting a home in a competitive real estate market can magnify these emotions and feelings. This is a landscape that local real estate agent, Jobe Latsinos from PRD Realty in Shailer Park has been navigating for over 10 years.
Together with his wife, Danika and their dedicated team, they
sell and manage residential real estate to the wider Logan community and are local property experts. Discover what Jobe had to say about being a real estate agent in Logan.
Tell us about yourself.
Glad to be a part of this amazing community, and the job that I have is more than just that, it's an opportunity to communicate with and help members of Logan City. I live in Daisy Hill with my wife Danika and 2 children, Charlotte and Harrison.
We have also added to our family, an 8-weekold Moodle puppy, named June! June has been keeping us ALL very busy and has slotted right into our family and office as the new PRD mascot. I am a down to earth, a family man with a big heart and a love for the footy and a Sunday BBQ.
Describe a day in the life of a real estate agent.
My phone would have to be the most important part of my day! Followed closely by the laptop. My office is located on Bryants Road, Shailer Park but my real office would have to be in the homes of
my wonderful buyers and sellers of Logan as that is where I spend the majority of my time. It's a busy schedule, juggling work, school and kids' sports commitments but I wouldn't have it any other way.
What drew you to real estate and how did you discover it was the career for you?
I have always been interested in real estate and it was a natural progression over the years into working in the industry with my wife having over 10 years of experience in the industry before I joined her in this exciting career.
What makes a good real estate agent?
Simple... Honesty, Integrity, and hard work! Everything else falls into place if you have those three important factors at the forefront of every relationship.
Congratulations on winning the PRD Bronze Sales Award for July to December 2021.
From community events and sports team sponsorships to volunteering for great causes in
me and stopped the car. We spoke for a little while, walked through the home, and signed a contract that day at the PRD Real Estate Shailer Park office. Happy buyer, happy seller!
What has been the most surprising thing about the real estate market post pandemic?
The pandemic has surely thrown the world into a spin and real estate has been no exception. Prices are still rising, a little more steadily, now, compared to last year, but I am surprised at just how many buyers are still in the market and lining up for quality properties.
There are a few things including Logans' great location between the Gold Coast and Brisbane City, with so many great places to experience within a few hours’ drive. However, I would
say that the people of Logan would have to be some of the best and down to earth people in the whole of Australia. That's really what makes Logan great.
A little-known fact about me ... I am a qualified chef! I have owned my own restaurant in the past in the beautiful NSW town of Tamworth! It's great knowing how to cook and being able to cook up a storm for dinner guests as a surprise.

With the NAPLAN testing over, students in years 3, 5, 7 and 9 can feel a little more relaxed about their stud ies. But is this stressful experience necessary for children? Should we just accept that such nervousness in tests is normal, that it doesn’t have a negative affect on children or even that it benefits them for later tests or exams?
Nervousness does not support learning. Instead, it fuels anxiety, stress and confusion, leading to a drastic misrepresentation of a student’s actual skill level.
Watching Channel 7’s “The Chase” quiz show on May 14, viewers were shocked to see the chaser, Cheryl Toh, an Australian lawyer, television personality and quiz champion, incorrectly answer many questions in the final chase section of the quiz, allowing the 4 contestants to win $33,000. Cheryl Toh was gallant in defeat saying, “Well done!” to the team and she went on to explain that after 2 consecutive incorrect answers she began to feel the nerves take over and, under the pressure of the time tick ing, she just couldn’t recover.
How this must definitely ring true for many NAPLAN contestants!!!!!
Certainly, clarifying the meaning of learning –the act or process of acquiring knowledge or skill – we can appreciate that learning for each student is a gradual and systematic skill-build ing journey; furthermore, when the ingredient of personal and meaningful engagement is added, a student’s joy and love of learning is definitely increased. However, when it comes to tasks involving “test preparation” the focus, sadly, is far from the “learning” experience. Add the factor of “time ticking” and you have – even for experienced adults – disaster!
What, therefore, should we do? It seems students must endure these “point-in-time”, “time-ticking” extractions of information. Most educational institutions in Australia and many other countries use them so we can’t just ignore these current methods used that attempt to find out on which “level” students are current ly achieving. But are these tests beneficial for children?
Most definitely, “point-in-time”, “time-ticking” tests for children is a gross misrepresentation of the value of learning; and “test preparation tasks” are just more kindle to the fire of unnec essary stress, confusion and disengagement.
We do well to encourage children, every day, in every way, to engage personally and meaningfully in their learning journey which, for these the youngest in our society, must be test free!
One of my personal travel highlights is experiencing the Canadian Rockies with my Mum. I don’t think you can truly appreciate the true beauty of the region without seeing it firsthand. From the mountains to the lakes, the incredible wildlife and the iconic hotels spread throughout the region, it really is a muto on anyone’s travel list.
The UNESCO World Heritage-listed Canadian Rockies stretch for 180,000 sq km through British Columbia and Alberta and can be visited at any time of the year with the warmer months of May to September being more favourable to us Aussies.
You can access the Rockies by air via Calgary or by the iconic Rocky Mountaineer rail journey. With three different rail itineraries the Rocky Mountaineer is certainly a must for anyone travelling to this region. The most popular of the 3 itineraries is the ‘First Passage to the West’ which has travelers spending the night in the riverside town of Kamloops. As the train rolls into Kamloops, you are greeted by Canadian Mounties on their horses and it’s truly a sight to behold. Onboard there
are two services you can choose from, Goldleaf and Silverleaf, which both offer a wonderful experience but, in my view, if you’re travelling all that way Goldleaf is a must!
With 3 prominent destinations – Jasper, Lake Louise and Banff – you can easily spend 7-10 days enjoying the spectacular views and sights that make up this region. Remember, there are no traffic jams in the Rockies – only ‘bear jams’. When driving the region either as a passenger of a coach tour or driving yourself there will be many occasions where you will need (want!!) to pull over and watch a bear and her cubs or
various other wildlife crossing the major roads and highways as they awake from the winter.
The months of June and July are spectacular wildlife viewing as spring is birthing season for many large mammals in the park and you will often see elk, mule deer and moose with their newborn calves
Air Canada will recommence their direct service from Brisbane to Vancouver in July making this incredible destination so easy to reach so if Canada has been a destination you’ve always wanted to visit, now is the time.

In May, White Lady Funerals sponsored Safe Haven Community in The World's Biggest Dinner Party, raising much needed funds to support women and children fleeing domestic violence.
As funeral directors, we are often faced with the terrible task of looking after families who are not fortunate to escape their situation. The impact of domestic violence and coercive control relationships is devasting for many Australian families. As a community, we need to be accountable for supporting change.
The White Lady Funerals team sponsored 3 'World's Biggest Dinner Party' events across Queensland to bring people together and promote better education on what coercive control is and how to spot the warning signs.
In light of the Queensland Government's recent announcement that they will criminalise coercive control, we are so pleased to see this issue gaining more support in the community.
As a not-for-profit organisation, Safe Haven Community provides supported, communitybased temporary accommodation for women at risk of domestic abuse. Their executive director, Jaeneen Cunningham works tirelessly to help women and children escape abusive relationships before they escalate to physical violence.
The White Lady team were honoured to support Safe Haven and take part in creating change. We hope that there will come a time when we no longer see the tragic impacts of domestic violence.
Thanks to Logan City Guide for supporting the World's Biggest Dinner Party event at Monte Ale House, which raised over $7000. Thanks also to Monte Ale House for hosting us, and thank you to all those that attended to support this important cause.
For little ones, learning to swim is vital, along the same lines as eating, breathing, and sleeping. In order to introduce this skill, infants should be exposed to pools of water around 3 months of age and children should ideally attend swim lessons year round. Many parents tend to only enroll their children in swim school during the summer months, however, the benefits of year round swim lessons aren’t just physical.
This is especially the case with children under five whose long-term skill retention and muscle memory are just beginning to develop. A break in lessons that stretches over many months will often result in a loss of skills. Even if parents don’t believe they can see development and progress in class, the child is at least maintaining their current ability level, and that is progress within itself.
Swimming indoors in winter helps keep kids active when it’s too cold to play outdoors. Staying active keeps kids engaged and healthy
and can even boost their immune systems. Establishing a routine of fitness for our little ones, especially considering our increasingly sedentary lifestyle, is imperative.
One of the many common reason parents decide to pull their children out of swimming school over winter is the concern that swimming in cold water will lead to more cases of cold and flu.
At Seahorse swim school, our swimming pool are heated to ensure that our students are comfortable and confident to continue their lessons over winter.
Your child will be summer ready
Swimming is a staple in the Australian Summer holidays. From going to the beach, pools, fishing, boating, school swimming carnivals, water parks and the list continues. Learning how to swim and being confident around water will keep your child safer and enable them to join in on all the water-related activities they want!

Success in business is often different for different people but at the end of the day, it is about profitability and value. A business can have a wonderful brand and reputation however to enable it to be sustainable it needs to be both profitable and build its value in assets.
You need to take the time to understand and know your numbers – that is both your Profit and Loss and your Balance Sheet at least. These tell the true success of your business each month, quarter, and of course, year’s end.
Don’t just glaze over and hand your numbers to your accountant – it is your business not theirs!
June is a good time to spend looking at the numbers in your business. It is the time to analysis and plan your budget and cashflow for the coming year. Take the time now to understand the relationship between your balance sheet and your profit and loss. Understand what those %’s mean and what changing the 1% will do to your bottom line (the money in your pocket).
In simple terms, Profit and loss is your trading income, sales, and expenditure it is about your profitability. In comparison, your balance sheet is the value of your assets, and hopefully a growing one at that.
Bank Balance is often the number one focus of most small business owners, and of course looking at your sales figures every day. However, there is a lot more to profitability than just sales. Looking at your expenses and the % of your
different areas that affect your profitability. Balance sheet again Most small businesses I encounter don’t take the time to look at their balance sheet or understand how to grow that balance sheet to make a real value in their business.
“Business is a game of numbers and relationship backup by good systems and processes.”
Building the value of your business also includes building your brand, your reputation, and your systems. This boils down to being consistent in your business reputation and image. Being reliable and memorable and you can’t develop these things without systems and processes.
“You can be making a profit and have no money in your bank account and you can have money in your bank account and not be making a profit!”

Banks 'create' money when they lend money to borrowers. As an example: There is a bank with $0. Jill puts $1,000,000 in the bank. The bank lends that $1,000,000 to Jack, which he keeps in his account with the bank. When Jill checks her account she has $1,000,000. When Jack checks his account he has $1,000,000 Therefore, $1,000,000 has been created by the bank. When Banks create too much money, because they give out too many loans, it causes inflation and drives up the prices for goods and services. This is because, as more and more loans are given, more and more money is chasing the same goods and services. Therefore, money becomes worth less relative to the goods and services Inflation is really bad for the economy if inflation gets too high it collapses the economy for good often setting back the country decades and decades.

The easiest way to control inflation is to make it harder for banks to create money Interest rates going up makes it more expensive for borrowers to get a loan. Therefore, as interest rates rise, the number of people getting loans out decreases. As there are fewer and fewer loans, inflation decreases and prices stabilize, which is fundamental to the economy's functioning.

Situated 3 and a half hours drive north of Brisbane, Hervey Bay is a natural bay between the mainland and World Heritage-listed Fraser Island. It is the perfect spot for a weekend getaway! Get yourself to Hervey Bay for a serving of sun, sand, seafood and soulfulness.
We’ve put together some suggestions for your road trip itinerary:
Start nice and early for your drive up to Hervey Bay. The drive itself is incredibly therapeutic. Pass through stretches of dense pine forests and pineapple fields, and make a pit stop at in the quaint country town of Gympie for coffee and cake. Why not stop at Maryborough, the birthplace of Mary Poppins. Take a walk around the city that inspired PL Travers to pen the infamous nanny’s story.
First things first on a weekend getaway trip in Hervey Bay; fuel up at the Hervey Bay Boat Club. Savour a speciality coffee, quick meal and a decadent dessert at their gourmet coffee shop or dine on the Coffee Shop Deck and enjoy balmy sub-tropical breezes and views of the passing marina traffic. Why not experience sensational ala carte dining for lunch and dinner with stunning views over the marina and Fraser Island. Tailored to suit all tastes, offering the freshest of local seafood, tender meats and crisp seasonal fruit and vegetables.
After lunch, try something spectacular and take an unforgettable journey in the skies as you soar above Hervey Bay on a magical helicopter ride with Great Ocean Helicopters. Get ready to appreciate some of Hervey Bays’ best scenic locations from a unique perspective.
Now it’s time to check in to your accommodation. Located only a 2-minute walk from the beach, you can’t go past Quarterdecks Retreat. This luxurious accommodation has 1,2 and 3 bedroom spacious villas available and offers multiple facilities; with a full kitchen and laundry available, it is perfect for everyone from couples to families.
After a well-deserved night’s rest, you’re awake ready and raring to go. No weekend to Hervey Bay is complete without a whale watching experience. Known as the whale watching capital of the world, Hervey Bay is a hot spot to experience the majestic animals. Get up close and personal to wonder at the magnificence of humpback whales on board the Freedom III Whale Watch and Charters.
To finish your trip with a cherry on top, a visit to World Heritage-listed K’gari (Fraser Island) or Lady Elliot Island is a must. While there’re plenty of ways to see these sites in a day, Fraser Island Tours takes it up a notch; showing you the best of what the region has to offer and witnessing the beauty of these world heritage listed paradises.
Our sun-kissed summer skin has long since faded, but that doesn’t mean we have to accept a lifeless-looking com plexion now winter is under way!
Yes, the cooler weather and all that it brings (think hotter showers, artificial heating, cold air, wind to name a few) can dehydrate and devital ise our skin often leaving it dull, dry, sometimes flaky! But all this means is that it’s time to up the ante with a little extra skincare TLC.
Exfoliation is key Make sure you shed those dry dead skin cells as a build-up is no good for anyone! They sit on the surface of your skin, not only dulling it, but they will also block the hydrating ingredients from every other skincare step in your routine
from getting in! Eek! A regular scrub (think twice per week) using a gentle exfoliator will make all the difference we promise!
Step up the moisture
Switch to a more nourishing moisturiser and if you haven’t already introduced a serum to your beauty repertoire. Skin is extra thirsty in winter so will benefit from a quenching dose of moisture.
Give skin some night nurturing Before bed lather your face with a vitamin-rich oil to seal in hydration.
Don’t forget your eyes
One particular area quick to suffer the effects of winter are the eyes. Often taken for granted, this sensitive area is usually the first to show signs of aging and lack of care.
Show your body some love
Lather your body as you would your face, with plenty of rich cream and pay particular attention to super dry areas such as elbows, knees and heels.
Applying your body lotion/cream in the bath room following a warm bath or shower is a great way to ensure your body readily absorbs the moisture as the warmth in the air will help open your pores thus locking in the moisture.
Safeguard your skin….not just in the summer months!
Just because it isn’t hot (and potentially sunny, blue skies) doesn’t mean you should slack off with the sunscreen. A super hydrating sun screen in the winter months will benefit your ailing dry skin greatly and let’s face it a little extra SPF protection against blue light damage (thank you too much screen time) won’t go amiss!
Art creates the impression of a more valuable home. If you think about a beautifully designed home with strong architecture, you can appreciate it for what it is, but without art it’s not finished. It’s missing an important component. Art rounds out the impression of living there
1. The best part about the artwork you intro duce into your home, is that it instils a fresh vibe into its aesthetic. Whether your building is decades or centuries old, you can always find interesting ways to embellish it with art.
Add a simple shelf to your living room upon which you can prop up artworks or prints that can change over time; add a sculptural piece to your TV stand; consider thought-provoking places to hang statement pieces … whatever it is, the addition of artwork immediately transforms a space.
A room that was previously suffering from an identity crisis can suddenly make sense with a simple placing of art that speaks to you. You won’t believe the effect the addition of art can have upon the vibe of your living space.
2. Artwork can make a house look spacious: Are you planning to paint the walls in your house? Stop right there. Do you know, murals can make your small room look bigger? Another concrete benefit of bringing artwork into the home, bold statements like this will have your guests swooning over what was previously an uninspired space.
A mural has the power to uplift the vibe of a place and to make it look simply amazing. Mu rals can be less expensive and last for a longer time as compared to traditional paint jobs.

By Dr. Graeme Nicholson. The original location for the town of Beenleigh was surveyed by William Fryar in 1866 and the first town blocks were offered for sale on Friday 2 November of that year. This original surveyed area is indicated in the map below by the vertical arrow.
On 1 October 1869, thirty local dignitaries, including Messrs Davy and Gooding, petitioned the Minister for Lands to move the town to a new site. On 13 January 1870, the government approved the new site and reserved land for the new town of Beenleigh. This area is indicated on the map on the right by the horizontal arrow.
Shown below is an extract of an entry from the Queensland Government Gazette advertising the first sale of land at Beenleigh. This is from Vol XII, No. 117 of the Gazette published on Monday 1 October 1866 for a sale to take place on Friday 2 November, 1866. The land advertised was at the original site on the north bank of the Albert River.
The price per acre is given in Pounds, one Pound converted to two Dollars when we converted to metric measurements.

If you have decided that your house is conducive to an open house, you can then help improve your chances of success by keeping the following tips in mind:
• Use advertising whenever possible.
• Make sure that your house is ready to impress visitors by ensuring that it looks its best, both inside and out.
• Remember that open for inspections open up your house to any stranger who chooses to walk in off the street.
• Buyers will be seeing dozens of potential houses. Make yours stand out with colourful flyers and pamphlets.
• You’ll want to give the buyers adequate space to examine your house in peace.
Open for inspections may not be right for every property and situation, but they can often be used as a way to expose your property to many potential buyers at once.
Another benefit of open houses is that you may only need to hold one or two of them to find the right buyer, saving you time and money.
It’s worth discussing this option with Local Realty Group, to find out if it could be right for you.

Apositive working environment helps both employers and employees by re ducing stress and increasing productivity. One way to create a more positive working environment is by taking breaks from work to interact with coworkers using team-building games. Some benefits includes:
Fun team-building games provide a relaxed environment that helps employees get to know one another. When playing, they learn to trust each other and work together. They also learn to respect their coworkers’ abilities and bond with each other to develop stronger relation ships. A unified workforce provides a better organisational culture that attracts great talent.
Employee productivity determines business revenue. The more productive a business is, the better its economic outlook will be. People willing to work cooperatively are often more productive, so encouraging your coworkers to engage in team-bonding games can help increase efficiency in the workplace.
Corporate team-building games also help improve organisational performance. They in crease positivity and cooperation within individ ual teams and in the organisation as a whole.

AND THE WINNER OF BATTLE OF THE BURGER IS…
In April, Logan City Guides put it to the people of Logan to discover who had the Best Burger in Logan! 9 local vendors took up the challenge and competed in the Battle of the Burger to determine who would claim the title.
Over 200 burger lovers went out and voted for their favourite burger and after a monthlong battle, 5 Boroughs in Springwood were declared the winner!
With their burger made for royalty, The King of Queens, 5 Boroughs Springwood won the people's vote.
Close runner up was the incredible Big Buns in Browns Plains with their juicy Cheeseburger Deluxe!
Third place was taken by The Monte's in Slacks Creek, with The Full Monte Burger. A strong finish after their recent kitchen takeover.
A huge thank you to everyone that took part - from the vendors to those who went out to support these local businesses and voted for their favourite. It was a close race. We realise that everyone has an opinion and a favourite, but let’s keep it classy and show nothing but love to all the participating businesses. Please continue to support these local venues as they put their heart and soul into their food!

Alot has happened since our May issue and what better time to give you an update on the tale of the travelling plate than right now.
Originally launched by Logan City Guides as a community initiative aimed at bringing people together and strengthening the Logan community, the Plate has taken on a life of its own. Consistently been passed from business to business around the Logan area, since it started its journey with Arwen from Devon Pixies. The plate has been passed on a total of 9 times so far!
Since last trade, the plate was passed from Rowena to Kailie and her team at Dye Hard Hair, along with 2 custom stubby holders.
From there the plate was shared by Kailie with the lovely ladies at the Kingston Post Office with 2 bottles of hair care product.
The plate continued on its journey when it was passed on from the Kingston Post Office to Amanda from TRS Safe Detox Australia with a pack of UNO cards and a crystal necklace. Amanda is a local business owner and is an independent distributor of Coseva's Advanced TRS in Australia; a product that helps to remove toxins from your body.
From then, Amanda shared the plate with Deborah and her crew at Muse – Crystals & Mystical Gifts, with 2 IONEX products. Deborah is currently in the process of setting up a Bathhouse and Day Spa Retreat.
Stay tuned for the next destination for the ‘Where is the Plate?’. We also encourage readers to check out the hashtag #whereistheplatelcg and like or follow the participating businesses or give them a visit if you haven’t yet.
