The Buy From the Bush QLD Festival is gearing up for its third edition, scheduled for Saturday, 16th September at the Summer Land Camel Farm in the picturesque Scenic Rim region. The festival is all set to honour the essence of the Australian bush by showcasing its flavours, talents, crafts, and products.

Originating in 2018, Buy From the Bush QLD was launched by local Queenslander Kerri Brennan during a seven-year drought that gripped her family-run cattle property on the Darling Downs. What began as a Facebook page to support rural women in tough times has blossomed into a dynamic online community connecting bush businesses, creatives, and family-run ventures across Queensland's rural regions.

The Summer Land Camel Farm, nestled in the lush Scenic Rim, is poised to host this lively event. Known as Australia's largest commercial

Camel Dairy, the farm embraces sustainable agriculture and produces pure and healthy Camel Milk products.

Anticipating participation from both local and distant regions, the festival will present around 80 stalls offering a diverse range of products. These will include gift ideas, handmade goods, and gourmet goodies such as homemade relishes, marinades, jams, chutneys, and condiments.

The event will also feature food trucks and refreshment stands, along with various entertainment such as camel riding and feeding, dog showcases, fire whip-cracking performances, chainsaw art displays, blacksmith presentations, as well as a designated "Kids Corner" catering to young visitors.

Having attracted around 5000 attendees in 2022, the Buy From the Bush QLD Festival is poised to leave an even greater impact this year. This event not only extends its support to rural communities but also promises a day of enjoyment and discovery for everyone. The Summer Land Camel Farm will be the place to be on 16th September from 9 am to 3 pm.

Turning Canungra Pink A

Small Town With A Big Heart

The charming town of Canungra is wearing its heart on its sleeve, or rather, its colour of choice – pink. The annual "Turning Canungra Pink" campaign, which happens each October, will grace the town with shades of pink to spread awareness about cancer and raise funds for the cause. What began a decade ago has blossomed into a vibrant show of community strength and solidarity.

Started in 2010 by Di, a local café owner and breast cancer survivor, the campaign initially sought to raise funds for Cancer Council Queensland. Over the years, the town's spirit of giving has transformed the event into an inspiring showcase of unity, as businesses, residents, and volunteers join hands to support a cause close to their hearts.

Through the month of October, Canungra dons pink in every possible way. Streets are lined with pink flags, signs, and decorations, giving the town a rosy hue. Shop owners

enthusiastically participate by decorating their shopfronts with various shades of pink, and a dozen pink-themed fundraising events across the course of the month.

Some of the events from 2022 included Australia's Biggest Alpaca Walk by Mountview Alpaca Farm, Canungra Black Tie Ball by O'Reilly's Canungra Valley Vineyard, and Opera at Sunset by Country Mile Escape, among other events.

Yet, "Turning Canungra Pink" is more than just a fundraiser; it's a celebration of life and resilience. Amid the festive atmosphere, the gravity of the cause remains front and center, a constant reminder of the genuine purpose behind the colorful extravaganza.

The event has not only united the town but has also evolved in its approach. In 2014, as the campaign gained momentum, the community established the "Pink Assist" committee to ensure its sustained success. A significant decision was made in 2018 when it was agreed that 50% of the funds raised would stay within the Canungra community, directly aiding those battling cancer.

Since then, Pink Assist has disbursed over $55,000 to assist Canungra residents dealing with cancer-related challenges. From medical

expenses to transportation and basic needs, the committee's support has provided a helping hand to those in need.

For those who wish to contribute or learn more about "Turning Canungra Pink," information is available on the campaign's Facebook page or through email at turningcanungrapink@gmail.com.
