s one of QLD’s fastest-growing communities, Flagstone is flourishing as it continues to transform
There are plenty of activities and things to do for people and families to enjoy; including markets, sporting clubs and groups as well as community events like Saturdaze Big Night Out, there is something for everyone.
As more and more land is sold and developed, the Flagstone community is rapidly continuing to grow. With work being done to accommodate the expanding population including key infrastructure projects within and outside the community to improve access and to facilitate the perfect lifestyle for families.
Projects like the New Beith Road, which will substantially reduce travel time between Flagstone and Springfield by providing an important connection to the Springfield Greenbank arterial. These projects will improve access to Flagstone and help foster community growth opportunities where businesses can prosper.
As the Flagstone community expands, the need for small businesses increases; particularly those professionals from the allied health services. Professionals like David from Flagstone Podiatry, who recognise the fantastic opportunity Flagstone presented and has taken advantage of what it has to offer; recently opened their practice in the area.
How and why did you open in Flagstone?
We chose to open our podiatry clinic in Flagstone because we recognised the need for more allied health services in the local area. We want to serve the local community by offering high-quality podiatry care to achieve a superior outcome for our patients.
How long have you been open?
We opened our brand-new purpose-built clinic in October 2021.
Do you have any specialities in podiatry?
I have a special interest in custom orthotics, ingrown toenails and children’s podiatry. I have previously worked in private practice on the Gold
Coast, as well as community podiatry across Brisbane, Ipswich, the Gold Coast and northern New South Wales.
When should someone consult a Podiatrist?
Podiatrists are the experts in foot and lower limb health. They are university trained health professionals who are able to investigate, diagnose and treat conditions affecting the feet, ankles, knees and hips.
What are some conditions podiatrists can treat?
Common conditions include heel or arch pain, knee and ankle pain or ingrown toenails. We can treat all types of feet, from kids’ feet to the elderly and anything in between!
What can people expect when they come?
We look forward to welcoming all patients with a smile and offering a professional, unique and personable experience. We can’t wait to meet you!

Summer break: that time when kids are finally free of classroom instruction and mounds of homework to do and are left with pretty much nothing while they’re home for a couple of weeks.
Of course, this year thanks to the pandemic, millions of children are already home— experiencing home learning for the first time. And though parents might be tempted to sit kids down with daily math problems and reading exercises to keep their brains stimulated, may not be the best approach over the break.
Using summer break as a frantic opportunity to catch up with your own child likely isn’t going to increase any test scores. But by spending quality time with their children and letting them learn through experiences, parents can help kids keep their brains engaged—and that will help make sure they’re ready to continue learning once they return to school in January.
Need some ideas to get started? Check out these fun activities to keep your child’s brain engaged over the summer break.
Spending time outdoors is an excellent way to stimulate kids’ brains. While exploring,
encourage kids to look out for animals as well as sticks, leaves, and other materials, then imagine what crafts they could use them for at home.
Parents can encourage kids to use measuring cups and ask them to double, quadruple or halve recipes. Parents can also talk about how various ingredients, like yeast, affect food. That’s what cooking is, using science to create something delicious.
Focus on games and challenges that require the family to work together: complex jigsaw puzzles, or even charades. When you have to work together, it brings out the best in everyone. You see people helping each other instead of putting each other down or being so competitive.
There’s so much learning that can go on that you can sneak in—the kids just won’t know.

Prime rib, also referred to as standing rib roast, is a beautiful piece of meat. Whenever we need a truly show-stopping holiday roast, we turn to it. A well-cooked prime rib is juicy, full of flavor, and not at all difficult to make.
Do I not need to season it with more than salt and pepper?!
Prime rib is such a fancy cut of meat that you don’t need to do pretty much anything to it to make it taste delicious. But when we say season with salt and pepper, we mean it: You should be blanketing the meat with a thin layer of salt.
1. Remove rib roast from packaging and place in a roasting pan. Let come to room temperature about 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 230ºC350.
2. Generously cover all sides of rib roast with salt and pepper. Place roast in a roasting pan fat-side up. Arrange half the rosemary in the bottom of the pan around the roast.
3. Roast 30 minutes, then reduce heat to 180ºC and cook 1 hour 30 minutes more for medium rare. (time will defer depending on size).
4. Remove roast from oven, cover with foil, and let rest 20 minutes.
5. To serve, slice along ribs to remove them, then separate each rib and put them aside. Slice the roast crossways against the grain. Serve on a platter with the ribs and remaining half fresh rosemary.
