From hurt to hope— Naw’s journey to Jesus
Naw lay in bed at night, crying quietly.
Her friends in the dorm were asleep, but her heart was breaking.
“I felt abandoned,” she said. “I cried every night.”
Naw’s journey to faith began with heartbreak
Back home in Myanmar, things had already been hard. Naw first heard about the Bible and the Seventh-day Adventist Church when a pastor came to her village and shared the truth about God’s Word. She believed what she heard and wanted to be baptized.
“My heart was filled with joy and happiness,” said Naw, upon saying “Yes!” to baptism.
But her parents, who followed a different faith, refused. They told her no. And they meant it, even threatening to disown her.
“I told my mother, ‘If I dedicate my life to God, I will do it in what I believe is the true faith.’”
That choice caused a rift in the family. Then, civil war broke out across Myanmar. It was no longer safe, and her home no longer felt like home.

When Naw’s cousin in Thailand offered her a place to stay and study, Naw said yes. She hoped things would get better. But in the beginning, they didn’t.
Far from home and cut off from her parents, Naw felt more lost than ever. She had no peace. She missed her family. She didn’t even want to hear about God.

and Amphai—gospel workers supported by Quiet Hour Ministries. They invited her to study the Bible.
At first, Naw only went because she had nothing else to do.
“I was tired and heavy inside,” she said. You sent gospel workers who cared
But their kindness broke through. They didn’t just teach her—they spent time with her—they became her friends. And slowly, Naw opened her heart again.
“I felt like I was getting closer to God,” she said.
One Sabbath, the pastor gave an altar call. Naw stepped forward. She was ready. She got baptized that day.
“My heart was filled with joy and happiness,” she said.

News of her decision to follow Jesus made its way back home. Her father later found out—and was angry. But she didn’t let his words shake her.
She still loves her family. But Naw chose to follow God first. Nothing could separate her now from the love of Jesus.

When Clifford first started serving in this part of Indonesia, he didn’t know what to expect.
“Some people didn’t want to hear from me. Others didn’t like me because of my beliefs as an Adventist— because some consider our church heretical,” he said.

Many people here follow different religious beliefs. Because the Seventh-day Adventist Church teaches about the Sabbath and other doctrines, some don’t understand or accept it.
But Clifford kept going. “I knew God sent me. I believed He would open the right doors.”

As a Quiet Hour Ministries gospel worker, Clifford visits homes, prays with people, teaches them about the Bible, and builds relationships in practical ways like helping in the fields and gardens.

A moment of hope in Indonesia
Clifford’s faith grew when he met two friendly people in Rattemenanga village.
“God allowed me to meet two people who were so friendly and open,” he said.
“When talking with them, I shared a message of truth. Praise the Lord! They received the words I spoke with joy and now have a desire to receive the truth that has been shared.”
“That moment reminded me why I’m here,” shared Clifford (on right), about leading this couple to Christ. “God was blessing my efforts.”
Because of you, Clifford keeps going “That moment reminded me why I’m here,” Clifford said. “It gave me so much encouragement.”
Even when the work is tough, Clifford keeps showing up.
“I believe that no service is wasted when done with God. May God continue to lead, bless, and open the heart of every soul who thirsts for truth.”
