Sanpete Interfaith Council fundraiser supports Sanpete Pantry BY GLORIA ALBRECHT

The Pyramid

During the holiday season many residents in Sanpete County are counting their Blessings. But for some of our less fortunate neighbors the struggle to survive is a weekby-week crisis. The Sanpete Pantry is crucial to survival for many county residents. The pantry serves thousands of residents with scheduled food drops from their box truck each month,

kid packs that feed hundreds hungry school children and their bricks-and-mortar pantry on Blackhawk Blvd. in Mt. Pleasant. One of the biggest challenges for the Sanpete Pantry, which is a non-profit organization, is funding this ongoing need. Marty McCain, director of fundraising for the pantry, reminds us that money goes a lot further than food donations. Donation dollars can be leveraged with the pantry buying

groceries in bulk. And more importantly, donation dollars “pay the bills” at the pantry to keep the food trucks rolling, and to pay for utilities and upkeep to keep the pantry running. This month, as another year goes down in history, McCain is reaching out to Sanpete County citizens for help. “If 1,000 people give $20 each that’s $20,000 which goes a long way in helping families. Your donations enable us to help meet the needs of hundreds of individuals and

families in Sanpete County.” The Sanpete Interfaith Council is doing a fundraiser this month to encourage people to do just that. “21 Days to Feed the Hungry” is an initiative the council is actively promoting to help the Sanpete Pantry raise money this holiday season. There are several easy ways to get funds to the pantry: A recurring monthly donation set up through your bank’s automatic bill pay is easy and much appreciated.

be made directly on the Sanpete Pantry’s web page simply by clicking on the “donate” tab at the bottom of the last page and choosing your donation amount. Donations are tax deductible, so money donated before Dec. 31 can be earmarked as a deduction for 2021 taxes. More importantly, donations send a message of hope and love to many families and neighbors who need a little help to get by.

SPRING CITY

Christmas Eve program set Once again, Spring City will have a Christmas Eve program of music and scripture reading. The program begins at 7 p.m. at the Spring City rock church on Friday. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend. There is no charge. The scripture reading, selected from the Old and New Testaments, retells the birth of Christ. Music consists of congregational carols and soloists and will complement the readings. The program is restful, uplifting, and short enough that families can attend and still have time for their own Christmas Eve traditions at home. Everyone is invited to attend.
