MT. PLEASANT—Power Superintendent Shane Ward reported to the Mt. Pleasant City Council during the regular meeting held March 12. Ward reported that a few weeks ago he noticed low voltage uses on a transformer. He said it wasn’t tapping as it should be and the control cabinet was issuing an error message. On further investigation by Solomon Corp., it was determined the Low Tap Changer (LTC) had a bad connection and was not tapping correctly causing an arc effect. Ward said the last time the LTC had been serviced was in 2013. He said he would like to replace the LTC with more efficient regulators, which cost about $3,700 each. Ward said replacement of the LTC with three regulators could be done in about seven or eight years and then sell the LTC back to Solomon Corp. In the meantime, a requisition was approved by the council to replace the
LTC on one of the transformers at the cost of $55,770. Ambulance Angie Stewart introduced herself to the council as the representative for the North Sanpete Ambulance Association, which includes the towns of Mt. Pleasant, Spring City, Fairview and Moroni. She reported the service is a private one which is not funded by the county or city and is manned by mostly volunteers with only a couple of paid positions. She said volunteers are reimbursed for actual usage but not for being on call. Stewart reported that the ambulance has answered between 600800 calls per year. She said right now there are about 10 volunteers from Mt. Pleasant and five from Spring City who serve on the ambulance crew. Mayor Dan Anderson expressed appreciation for their needed service.
