What background knowledge do I need to study German Extension?
Year 11 and HSC Continuers courses in German.
Why study German Extension?
Students with marked linguistic ability have the opportunity to further study their chosen language through a novel called Tschick (Why we took the car). This course is designed to enhance the students’ knowledge and understanding of a range of issues as reflected in contemporary German society, while extending their ability to use and appreciate German as a medium for communication, and creative thought and expression.
Prescribed issues covered:
The focus of the German Extension course is the theme: the individual and contemporary society. Students with marked linguistic ability can extend their skills further by studying this prescribed novel and through the study of others related texts, exploring the prescribed contemporary issues of:
• Youth issues • Relationships • Identity
Students are encouraged to express their creative thoughts in German. Students will start the German Extension Course in Term 4, Year 11.
