Our client currently offers an array of wellness services designed to assist employees achieve and maintain optimal health and wellbeing. A goal of their WellBeing program initiative is to consolidate all programs into a single, dedicated location and to increase the capacity and capability of these programs.

At 60,000sf, the consolidated campus called the WellBeing Center, features an expanded 35,000sf Fitness Center, dedicated 6,000sf Health Services,4,000 sf Agile Work Spaces, 2,600sf Grab & Go/Juice Bar, plus lobby and support spaces.

Singing Hills Recreation Center Dallas, Texas Client: City of Dallas ― Size: 25,650 square feet― Constructon Cost: $10.5M ― Completion Date: 2021 ― Sustainability: LEED ® Silver ― Awards: Merit Award , 41st Annual Facilities of Merit, Athletic Business, 2021; Honor Award, AIA Dallas Design Awards, 2021; The National Organization of Minority Architects (NOMA), 2021

Inspired by the natural elements of the project site, the design team for the Singing Hills Recreation Center sought to enhance the beauty of the area by creating a facility that mimics the natural landscape in an abstracted way. By trimming the underbrush and lower limbs of the densely treed area, a space for human activity to take place among nature was revealed.

The solid stone base establishes a natural material palette while the transparent glass walls showcase activity within the recreation center and create a sightlight to the incoming train traffic.

At the completion of Phase 2, the new LEED Silver center now includes a full size gymnasium with seating for 300, game room, a fitness room, an exercise room, a multipurpose community room, a new Senior Center, and a new Technology Center. Singing Hills Recreation Center adjoins a site with the Dallas South Central Police Substation (also designed by Perkins&Will) and includes shared access to the Camp Wisdom Dart station.

Community Wellness and Aquatic Center West Lafayette, Indiana Client: City of West Lafayette ― Size: 73,000 square feet ― Completion Date: Est. 2020 ― Project Cost: $34 million ― Awards: AIA Indiana Merit Award 2021

Nestled within Cumberland Park, one of West Lafayette’s beloved public green spaces, the new Wellness and Aquatics Center fulfills many roles. It includes everything from indoor aquatics and gymnasium space, fitness and recreation amenities, youth activity areas and community gathering space. The City envisioned a building where all walks of life could come together. Perkins&Will developed the “one roof” concept, a sheltering environment reminiscent of a festival text, a place where residents come together, share experiences and lead healthier lives.

Some of the building’s unique features include: Entirely Gender Equitable and Inclusive Locker Rooms and Restroom facilities A Hybrid recreational and therapeutic pool featuring a vortex and beach-entry Large, multi-purpose gymnasium spaces for a wide-range of sport and recreation programs.

Community Wellness and Aquatic Center

Area Recreation Center Williston, North Dakota Client: Williston Parks & Recreation District ― Size: 240,000 square feet ― Completion Date: 2014 ― Construction Cost: $70 million ― Awards: Merit Award, North Dakota AIA, 2014; National Gold Medal, Awards in Parks and Recreation, 2015

The 240,000 s.f. Williston Area Recreation Center (ARC), is the largest parks district-owned rec center in the nation and offers a wide variety of amenities to the public.

The main entrance, set in the center of the first floor, houses a fireplace and a lounge area that includes a glass window facade overlooking the pool area. The first floor also house a four court 26,895 s.f. tennis area.

The largest area within the ARC combines four basketball courts and the 200-meter competition track, set in the 56,373-square-foot, 4 basketball court multi-use space. Another area includes a 40- by 60-yard indoor turf fieldhouse. The space allows teams to play soccer, football and athletic activities during the winter. It also houses two dedicated and four retractable batting cages for baseball enthusiasts. The natatorium contains a fifty meter competition pool with bleacher seating capable of hosting state meets. The pool area also features a water park and “flow rider” wave simulator where visitors can enjoy wake boarding with the comfort of lifeguards on duty. This area includes a whirl pool and the “Lazy River Slide” for kids. Visitors can enjoy the four-foot-deep instructional and exercise pool.
