FROM HEAD TENNIS PROFESSIONAL ROGER EXUM The serve is one of the most critical shots in tennis, setting the tone for every match. While it might seem simple, refining your serve requires focus and practice. Head Tennis Professional Roger Exum shares three essential tips to elevate your game: 1. Focus on Your Toss | The toss is the foundation of a successful serve. Aim for a smooth, controlled motion that positions the ball slightly in front of your lead foot and at an ideal height. A consistent toss improves timing and precision.

2. Establish a Routine | A pre-serve routine builds muscle memory and calms your nerves. Whether it’s bouncing the ball or taking a deep breath, find a sequence that feels natural and repeat it consistently.

3. Shift Your Weight Forward | Power and accuracy come from proper weight transfer. Shift your weight from your back foot to your front foot as you strike the ball to generate momentum for a controlled, powerful serve.
