CONCEPT AND PROCESS
Located in the capital city of Gujarat, this Hindu crematorium is designed to honour and preserve ancient traditions while offering a serene and well-equipped environment for cremation rituals. The space is thoughtfully planned to ensure a peaceful, positive atmosphere where families can perform final rites with dignity and devotion. Emphasizing spiritual solace, the design encourages a temporary disconnection from the outside world, allowing mourners to reflect and find inner peace. The ultimate aim is to provide a setting where the bereaved can attain a quiet mind before departing, fostering a deeper connection to cultural rituals and a sense of closure.

Location- Ahmedabad, Gujarat
Scope- Concept, Design, Drawings, Renders
CONCEPT AND PROCESS
The programme was to build an Architechture Incubation Centre for the architechture community of India, which can be used as a cultural and convention centre, exhibition space and as a space for exploring and research in various fields and disciplines of architechture and sharing the same to the community through meetings and conferences.
As seen throughout the models, creating small courts inside the space was a crucial element of the project. These would enhance the user experience by creating an extension to the various private spaces.Another important element created through this would be the semi open circulation spaces, promoting interaction at various levels.
ACHIEVING THE FINAL FORM- VARIATIONS IN SHAPE, CIRCULATION AND ARRANGEMENT
The programme was to design a dream abode, taking into considerations the various climatic and contextual aspects of the site chosen. The structure should also reflect the vernacular building styles native to the place and provide a comfortable settlement to the user. The selected site is located on the hillside, with picturesque views, and a river flowing in the valley beneath. The aim of the project was to allow the user to enjoy the site and feel connected to the nature. This led to a staggering form with respect to the slope and the use of curved walls opening up towards the valley, providing a diverse experience throughout the space.
EXPLODED VIEW SHOWING VARIOUS MATERIALS
AND THEIR USAGE
The main materials chosen include locally available stone-for the structure of load bearing walls and timber-for the roof and floor.Choosing this combination responds to the harsh climate of the region by exploiting the thermal insulating properties of stone and pitched timber roofs help to easily drain off water as this area experiences quite heavy rainfall.

CONCEPT MODELS AND SKETCHES
The programme aimed at developing a housing facility at an already occupied site, facing issues like lack of open space, common amenities for the public and illegal expansions.Keeping in mind these points and the FSI regulations for the area,a project was developed for the people, belonging to various religious and income groups. The main points considered were maintaining a central focal point and creating a network connecting various units, encouraging interactions and a harmonious lifestyle,at the same time maintaining a balance between the open,semi-open and closed spaces.Various units combined together created a cluster, which had its own common open space. These clusters also had a common open space at the site level, for larger gatherings.

Semi open balcony
The site is located at the heart of the city, surrounded by the Pol houses and Textile industries, well connected with the railwa y and bus station.Located in a densely populated area, the site is directly connected to the main road, and has an already existing dar gah and temple which were to be taken into consideration while designing.
