PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE
I am pleased to report on another positive year at St. Augustine High School. The pages that follow contain joyful examples of how our beloved institution in Calendar Year 2023 represented the St. Augustine community and how faculty, alums, partners, and friends of the school demonstrated their commitment to our school’s growth. This report also reveals an organization that is strategically evolving to expand its reach and provide necessary exposure for our young men. I believe a deep sense of commitment lies at the center of each of the many achievements highlighted in this report. Commitment to creating the very best learning environments and experiences for students is our ultimate aim.
The Development Team truly answered the call to take action and provide impact in 2023. We achieved our best fundraising performance in our school’s history, thanks to the team’s efforts with consistent long-standing supporters and recent new contributors. I’m extraordinarily proud of the team’s efforts.
I’m often reminded that the sustainability and growth of our institution is carried by our dedicated alumni, foundation and corporate partners and friends of the school. This mix of community support not only signals hope for our future, it creates an unyielding sense of pride and joy that our patron Saint - St. Augustine of Hippo would be proud to see represented today!
With all the good that took place in 2023, I’d be remiss if I didn’t acknowledge the untimely passing of a dear friend to the schoolMr. Richard Voke. Richard, as he demanded we call him versus Mr. Voke, discovered the astonishing work being done between Law & Hope Street in the summer of 2022. From that time on, he made his presence known by supporting over a dozen programs and initiatives at the school with his generous support. He departed this Earth on December 31, 2023, but his contributions and impact to St. Augustine will be remembered and live on forever. Thank you, Richard!
As I close out my thoughts on this year’s irrefutable success, I submit to you that we must always put the young men of St. Augustine first. We must remain united by a greater understanding of purpose and act with a determination to ensure St. Augustine High School has limitless boundaries. After all, in order for the city of New Orleans to do well, St. Augustine must do well.
In God We Trust,
Aulston G. Taylor President and CEO
