Making History

Dr. Weil made medical history in 1994 when he established the world’s first program in integrative medicine at the University of Arizona. In March 2022, plans to expand the program through the new Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine were announced, with construction taking place at the University of Arizona’s Health Sciences campus.

He also founded The Weil Foundation in 2004, providing more than $5 million grants and gifts to medical centers and non-profit organizations to advance integrative medicine worldwide.

New to Purecare is our partnership with the many artisans at the helm of Portugal’s bedding industry. Portugal’s connection to sustainable farming and craft bedding dates back centuries, making the country one of the most popular places to travel in search of cotton, linen, and other popular bedding fibers and fabrics.

Due to the high, economically-conscious production standards maintained within Portugal’s borders, like in the small northern city of Guimarães, where many of our Dr. Weil products originate, it remains one of the best countries in the world for sourcing sustainable, organic materials and luxury bedding with a handcrafted, multi-generational look and feel.

Natural Kapok

Derived from the seed pods of Kapok trees native to Central and South America, Kapok is a highly sustainable, eco-friendly fiber included in our pillow collection. Known as “silky cotton,” it’s a natural fiber that feels as soft as cotton, smooth as silk, and mimics the flexibility of latex.

Merino Wool

A soft, lightweight, high-quality wool sourced from Australian Merino sheep. Unlike ordinary wool, Merino wool is renowned for its fine texture and natural moisture-wicking and thermoregulating properties, making it perfect for winter and summer use. Merino wool’s natural resistance to dust mites also makes it ideal for allergy sufferers.

Goose Down & Feathers

Responsibly sourced and traceable, the goose down and feathers in our collection mimic tufts of cotton, offering a softness unmatched by similar fills. Naturally breathable, this classic combination provides a light, lofty sleep experience. A natural resistance to dust mites makes it ideal for allergy sufferers.

Blended Linen

A thoughtful balance of cotton’s lived-in softness and linen’s nuanced texture, our blended linen collection features natural cotton and flax linen fibers. Naturally durable and lightweight, this combination is optimal for year-round use and maintains its integrity after every wash.

Natural Hemp

Natural hemp provides all the softness of cotton but is renowned for being more durable, sustainable, and eco-friendly, absorbing more carbon and requiring less water and land to produce. Naturally hypoallergenic and moisturewicking, it’s ideal for allergy sufferers and perfect for year-round use.

Fairtrade Cotton

All of our cotton from Portugal is Fairtrade certified, traded, audited, and sourced from Fairtrade producers. Fairtrade means fairer trading conditions and opportunities for cotton producers in developing countries to invest in their businesses and communities for a sustainable future.
