365 Day Countdown draws crowd in Abbotsford 2016 BC Summer Games

o kickoff the countdown to the Games, the Abbotsford 2016 BC Summer Games Board hosted an event at Thunderbird Square. The celebration, which was held on Matsqui and Sumas First Nations traditional lands, included entertainment
from local dancers and singers, messages from Mayor Braun, the President and Vice President of the local Games Board, Steve Carlton and Stan Petersen, and President and CEO of the BC Games Society, Kelly Mann.
There was a formal raising of the BC Games flag, which was delivered to the venue by the Silverfox Cadet Squadron and a representative of the Abbotsford Police Department to the beat of the Hurricane Drum Team and flanked by members from local sport
clubs . Mayor Braun and the Games President raised the flag City Hall as a symbol of the Games coming to Abbotsford. The event was a true community celebration with over 400 in attendance, who enjoyed the cont’d on page 50
