Statement from MLA Michael de Jong on the passing of Jack Robertson All of Abbotsford is in mourning today with the news of Jack Robertson’s passing. As a local businessman, elected Councillor, and volunteer extraordinaire, Jack touched the lives of thousands of citizens. His love for our community was exceeded only by his modesty and his preference that the spotlight shine upon others. Jack’s passion was athletics and generations of young athletes have, and will, benefit from his lifetime of volunteerism. The Legacy Sports Centre exists because of Jack Robertson and his 2007 induction into Abbotsford’s Sports Hall of Fame stands as a lasting tribute to one of our community’s greatest ambassadors and most generous builders. Over the years, Jack provided guidance and advice to many young people and I was frequently the very fortunate recipient of his wise counsel. I shall greatly miss our breakfasts together and telephone conversations. On this very sad day I join with all of Abbotsford in sending condolences to Jean and all of Jack’s family. Jack was a true community hall of famer and the warmth of his friendship will burn in our hearts forever.
