Dear Friends of Punchestown,

I’m delighted to welcome you here today for day one of the “Summer In Town” weekend fixture which ends a great season here at the home of Irish Jumps.

I would like to welcome all of todays’ sponsors; Primal Performance & Fitness, Oak Lodge Landscapes, Aramark Ireland and Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital. They are all brilliant partners of Punchestown and the support of our sponsors does not go unnoticed. Their contribution to the Industry is greatly appreciated.

We have a great weekend planned for the ‘Summer In Town’ mini-festival with a BBQ situated in the Punchestown Garden across the two days. We have Live music after racing today and a shuttle bus service into Naas where you can continue the party with friends and family.

Tomorrow, we will show Hurling finals on the big screens so you have no excuse to miss out on all the Live sporting action here in Town. Speaking of live sport, we are delighted to stage Fitclub @ Punchestown where seven local sports clubs will take part in a fitness challenge for the chance of winning €2,000 for their club. This event starts at 12.10pm tomorrow so we hope to see you all there!

Additionally, we have an Exhibition tomorrow in association with Bermingham Cameras. Photography students, enthusiasts and club members were invited ‘to attempt to capture Punchestown in a photo where the subject is not necessarily the horse but more about the people, place and occasion”. Over fifty photographers took part throughout Festival 2023 and the overall winner will be selected tomorrow at the races.

Furthermore, I look forward to welcoming you back here tomorrow, Sunday 11th June where the first of eight races goes to post at 1.40pm.

Kindest Regards, Kindest Regards, Conor

RACE VERDICT

An ordinary enough mares’ maiden hurdle which can go the way of hurdling debutante ANNALECKA, who impressed in winning a pointers’ bumper at Tipperary recently. Of those with previous hurdling experience, Something Abouther, Ginnets Girl and Workforadime appeal most. [Alan Hewison]

RACE VERDICT

A weak maiden for the venue. DANADA failed to back up an eyecatching Clonmel debut run at Downpatrick but should appreciate this drop in trip and could be worth keeping the faith in. Summer Gale makes a quick return after an underwhelming hurdles debut just six days ago but remains of interest, while Steel Cable is one to consider on his first start for Gordon Elliott. RACE VERDICT

There should be more to come from the unexposed DA CAPO GLORY who chased home Grangeclare West here in April and should have more to offer at this trip. Ash Tree Meadow is a big player on his best form and the same can be said for Jeff Kidder but they both like a recent run. [Phill Anderson]

RACE VERDICT

It was a promising hurdle debut from SCOTT LANG last year and arriving on the back of a couple of solid Flat efforts this season, he should be sharp for his return to this sphere. New Year Honours looks like the main danger if she’s tuned up for her return and Fermoyle could have a say back on quicker ground. [Phill Anderson] Source: Racing Post

RACE VERDICT

It’s hard to oppose STRIKING (nap) who has finished runner-up in his last two maiden hurdle outings and that level of form sets a clear standard in a weak contest. Littel Flour has an each-way squeak if she returned to form while any support for the newcomers Sea Aster or Farrokh would be worth noting. [Phill Anderson] Source: Racing Post

RACE VERDICT

I Will Be Baie is likely to be popular given his yard’s reputation in bumpers but his point form could have worked out better and it may be worth taking a chance on one at a likely bigger price. FAD EADRAINN caught the eye when staying on for third on debut and with improvement likely, he gets the tentative vote. Quicker ground may help Master Otis who has been running well this year and Grasshopper Time wasn’t disgraced on debut, despite his big starting price. [Phill Anderson] Source: Racing Post
