Love or loathe it, Valentine’s Day returns, reigniting the high street’s flames for red and pink ensembles. A statement combination, whether you’ve a hot date to make, doing something solo, or spending the day with friends.

Sweet news is: you’ve probably got plenty to pull from your wardrobe at home already. So grab your old coats (in red, rose or cream), pair with one of the going out tops or dinner dresses you’ve been neglecting (in a clashing or matching colour), and step out looking a treat.

If in your heart of hearts you’re just not that into pink or red? Lilac and black make great alternatives.
