Do you have old kettles, toasters and hair dryers? Milton Keynes is due to become the country’s first #RehomeYourElectricals project. You can donate unwanted but working old electrical gadgets for rehoming to community organisations. So, dig out anything with a plug, battery or cable and stop it becoming e-waste.
Old electrics are a modern day problem, but there’s something you might not know about our ancient local history. When you’re driving along the V and H roads you’re taking a journey through time. They are on the site of what was part of a warm ocean160 million years ago. It was once home to marine reptiles including porpoise-like Ichthyosaurs. It’s a fascinating story and you can see a skeleton at Milton Keynes Library.
There’s plenty to do for the rest of the Easter holidays and beyond. Carrying on the dinosaur theme, you can go along to Gulliver’s Farm Park this month. Explore the flora and fauna at Furzton Lake, Great Linford Manor Park, Bancroft Park or Howe Park Wood. You can even become a code breaker at Bletchley Park. You can try adventure golf at Volcano Falls and support Willen Hospice by enjoying games for all ages at the Hangout.
If that’s not enough for you Milton Keynes Theatre invites you to enjoy spectacular adventures with Aladdin this month. It’s a musical and visual extravaganza. There’s also the chilling tale of The Woman in Black and Cluedo 2 – The Next Chapter. The entirely new story features Mrs Peacock, Colonel Mustard and all your other favourite murderous characters.
For the first time, Milton Keynes is part of the annual celebration of the UK’s independent record shops. Hundreds of artists will issue special Record Store Day releases. If you’re a vinyl junky put Saturday 20th April in your diary.

Naturalist and broadcaster Chris Packham has congratulated Dominic Dyer on his selection as the Liberal Democrat Parliamentary candidate for the new seat of Buckingham and Bletchley.
Dominic, who has been a resident of Milton Keynes for more than two decades, has had a wide-ranging career working in the agriculture, food manufacturing, plant science and conservation sectors.
Unlike many conservationists, he became a wildlife protection and environment campaigner after a career in government and industry, using the skills he acquired in Whitehall, Brussels, and the corporate boardroom to fight for the protection of wildlife and nature at home and abroad.
Dominic was CEO of the Badger Trust from 2013 to 2020 and is currently Policy Advisor and Wildlife Advocate at the Born Free Foundation. He is also a Board member of Wildlife and Countryside Link.
“I must congratulate Dominic Dyer on being selected as one of the Parliamentary candidates in his home seat of Buckingham and Bletchley,” Chris said.
“Dominic is a passionate, inspiring and increasingly influential voice for protecting animals, wildlife and the natural world
We can professionally re-spray your complete kitchen to a factory finish within 1 week. With minimal disruption as 90% of the work is carried out at our spray workshop! A wide range of colour choices and long lasting finish.
and we desperately need more people like him in Parliament.”
Chris added: “I wish Dominic every success in engaging with voters on these critical issues and I trust his selection as a candidate will send a clear message to all political parties - that nature and biodiversity loss and the need to tackle water pollution and climate breakdown are crucial concerns that could swing millions of environmentally conscious voters at the next election.”
Speaking about his priorities as a Parliamentary candidate, Dominic said: “We need political change in this country and I believe the Liberal Democrats can help deliver it.
“I want to focus on three key issues; the cost of living crisis, the Environment and climate change crisis and the crisis of confidence in our political institutions and democracy.
“I will run a high-profile campaign that engages and inspires people of all ages, backgrounds and political views focusing on issues of both local and national concern - from protecting the future of the NHS to affordable housing, planning and transport infrastructure and protecting the environment.
“As the MP for this new seat I would like to give a high priority to protecting the environment through sustainable development, reducing waste and pollution, increasing recycling and promoting green spaces, wildlife and biodiversity protection.
“I want to create a more equal and fairer society by the construction of more affordable homes, improve public transport, help the most vulnerable who are struggling with the impact of the cost of living crisis, and expand community based services for physical and mental health and social care.
“With Bletchley Park in the constituency I also want to focus on the huge potential for Artificial Intelligence to create a sustainable future for humanity.”
“Looks like a new kitchen, great job and great service. Highly recommend FX Finishing”. Mr O’Neill, Milton Keynes

Established for over 16 years, Cloudy2Clear windows have become the UK’s leading company for domestic glass replacement. Customers are no longer needing to risk their windows by using the dreaded double glazing cowboy down the road, instead, now they can join over 320,000 happy customers and have their glass replaced in an affordable and ethical manner. Remember, a failed glass unit may no longer provide you with the protection you need or be energy efficient. Why not spend a few minutes checking your home to see if you have
any failed double glazing? If you act now you can avoid any future costly problems.
When talking to the Manager of Cloudy2Clear windows Stephen Moon it became clear that these values have been held dear for a number of years. Since starting the business some years ago Cloudy2Clear have remained true to their core values of supporting the local community by providing a service that saves the public money. The Cloudy2Clear service only requires the glass to be replaced and not the whole window
once the unit has failed. Stephen commented “Cloudy2Clear were able to assist our community through the last financial crisis in 2008 due to the savings that can be made in using our service. Unfortunately we might be going through something similar again soon and the public can rest assured that we will be there to help once again”.

Milton Keynes residents are being encouraged to rehome their unwanted electrical devices through a new collaborative project to reduce e-waste.
Dig out that old kettle, toaster, hair dryer… Milton Keynes is set to become home to the country’s first #RehomeYourElectricals project.
Environmental charity Hubbub is launching the project and is calling on residents across the city to find any unwanted working old electrical devices and donate them for rehoming to community organisations including homeless support service The Bus Shelter MK, YMCA Milton Keynes, the Salvation Army’s Lighthouse Project and Milton Keynes City Council’s local welfare provision service. Hubbub is running the project for an initial three months with the Community Fridge Network and part of Material Focus’s Electricals Recycling Fund. It is already under way and residents have been handing over electricals at Wolverton Community Fridge and Repair Cafe sessions at The Old Bath House and Community Centre.
Each device is quality checked and confirmed as safe to use by trained volunteers before being rehomed.
“We are really looking forward to seeing residents across Milton Keynes get behind this ground-breaking initiative which makes it much easier to rehome electrical items and reduce e-waste,” said Hubbub project lead Helen Innes. “Anything with a plug, battery or cable contains valuable material that can be kept from becoming e-waste. So, whether you have an unused TV, microwave, toaster or lamp gathering dust at home or can clear out that drawer of unused cables and extension cords, please bring it along.”
#RehomeYourElectricals is one of more than 40 UK projects funded by Material Focus, the not for profit organisation leading the Recycle Your Electricals campaign. It has provided more than £50,000 to support the Milton Keynes initiative.

It's bonkers to think that where we work, rest and play was once at the lowest point of a primeval sea, isn't it? Where the V and H roads now allow us to move with ease (at least for most of the time) was once part of a warm ocean, home to marine reptiles including Ichthyosaurs. Sammy Jones finds out more about the new city's very old monster...
Similar to porpoises in appearance, Ichthyosaurs lived in the waters that covered much of continental Europe during the early Jurassic period around 160 million years ago.
While dinosaurs were on the land, Ichthyosaurs were preying on octopus, cuttlefish and squid in the water, travelling at speeds of up to 25 miles an hour in the quest for food. They are believed to have been highly skilled movers and hunters.
Eventually though, these marine reptiles were driven to extinction by climate change. This happened well before the catastrophe that wiped out the dinosaurs. They simply didn’t evolve quickly enough. They were gone forever - almost.
Let’s fast forward many millions of years, to the early nineteenth century, and a connection with the Ichthyosaur. Mary Anning – still a young girl – discovered a fossilised skull in the marine fossil beds in the cliffs at Lyme Regis. Fascination turned into a mission, and over the course of several months, Mary was able to dig the outline of its skeleton – which measured more than five metres in length.
Could it be a crocodile? That was the view of scientists at the time, but following years of debating and study, they realised this impressive discovery was a newly discovered species. They called it Ichthyosaur, meaning fish-lizard.
Mary wasn’t the first to discover the remains of an Ichthyosaur, but hers was the one that caused a stir; it was purchased and displayed publicly in London where it wowed everyone.
Mary’s fascination for fossils continued and over time she became a pioneering palaeontologist, the first professional fossil hunter. She painstakingly documented all that she discovered, with male scientists often purchasing her finds.
Sadly, all too frequently Mary’s work went without the credit deserved. Women were still second class citizens, and this intelligent lady was denied her rightful place.
When Mary died of breast cancer in 1847 she was still afflicted by financial issues, despite her many extraordinary scientific discoveries.
Thankfully, like those many fossils she discovered, her place in history has since been assured. Today, many of her finds can be viewed at The National Museum and, in 2021, a statue of Mary was unveiled in her hometown. Kate Winslet starred as the fossil collector and palaeontologist in the film Ammonite.
Mary spent her time actively searching for Ichthyosaurs, but here in the new city of Milton Keynes, one workman struck fossil gold while working on the excavations for Caldecotte Lake when he just happened to uncover one!
Experts from Leicester University were engaged to aid the preservation and conservation of the magnificent creature, of which 75% was recovered.
They spent days mapping out the skeleton, and recording the position of every bone before the whole fossil was lifted, one bone at a time and taken to Leicester for conservation.
Each bone was carefully cleaned and repaired, and because some of the skeleton was encased in hard limestone it had to be carefully sawn out.
The scientific name for the so-called Caldecotte Monster is Ophthalmosaurus, which translates as ‘Eye Lizard.’ It was so-called because of its large eyes. Each was supported by a ring of bone plates and many animals with big eyes have the same features, so too do owls.
Our Ichthyosaur was a fierce predator and one of more than 100 known species which existed between 250 and 90 million years ago. A newly discovered Ichthyosaur species, estimated to have lived around 218 million years ago, was absolutely huge – with an estimated length of 21 metres. Bigger than the blue whales we know today.
But back to our water ‘monster’, and while he has been a quiet resident of Milton Keynes Library for many years, the launch of our Ancient Gallery will allow us to display it as part of the story of Milton Keynes.
But it’s not as easy as simply removing the display case and taking him to Wolverton. If only it was!
“Conservation has changed in the time he has been resident in CMK, and the fossil must be removed, examined and conserved so we don’t lose any of it, and to prevent it from corroding,” explained Milton Keynes Museum director Bill Griffiths, “We want to restore it so that it will be seen by generations to come. The support structure and display case need to be replaced to meet up-to-date conservation
standards too. This will mean that we have to raise at least £25,000 and will have only a month to do it!”
We are aiming to launch a fundraising campaign in association with the Art Fund and give donors a range of experiences and all of them an opportunity to name the Ichthyosaur Get ready with your suggestions.
“We really hope the public of Milton Keynes will rally and help us to raise the funds necessary for the restoration,” Bill said, “Our supporters are wonderfully loyal, and every penny will count. This is the oldest exhibit we’ll have in the Museum. It is intriguing for all, and will spark the imaginations of children, which is wonderful.
“It will also – for once and for all – silence those critics who say that Milton Keynes has no history. Having something 160 million years old should end that argument for good.
“It’s wonderful that we can have something as remarkable as this in our Ancient Milton Keynes gallery, and that just a few steps away, in another new gallery, we will tell the story of the new town. How about that for variety?
“It’s really great to have the Ichthyosaur coming to take centre stage in the story of Ancient Milton Keynes,” added Bill, “It will welcome visitors very much as Dippy, the Diplodocus, did for decades in the hall of the Natural History Museum.
“The Ichthyosaur and Dippy are about the same age, and while the Ichthyosaur is not a dinosaur, and is not as big, unlike Dippy, it is a real fossil - not just a cast. Most importantly, the Ichthyosaur is also ours - it was found in Milton Keynes, rather than in America like Dippy.
“I hope that for years to come Museum visitors will take the Ichthyosaur to their hearts.”

The ceremony, which took place at Unity Place in Central Milton Keynes, presented a total 12 awards to recipients ranging from 11-year-old Student Superstar Maryam Jazeem to Dr Luofeng Huang, a lecturer in mechanical engineering at Cranfield University who is leading research on floating solar farms.
The awards were the brainchild of events organiser Meena Chander, founder and chief executive of events company Events Together.
“We are keen to recognise success and celebrate excellence from young students through to changemakers and leading lights in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths,” Mrs Chander said.
“There is no doubt that these awards are important for a city that has built a strong reputation as a centre for innovation and development in the STEM industries.”
Around 130 guests enjoyed a sumptuous three-course dinner before the ceremony itself. The award winners were chosen by a panel of expert tech and entrepreneurship judges headed by Sarah Thorne, managing partner at professional services provider the Queensbury Group based at Wolverton Mill.
Ms Throne said: “This is a unique event in this space, recognising the people who are often overlooked, do not promote themselves or the work they do and who may be changing the world behind the scenes.
“I was absolutely blown away by the amazing things being achieved by the nominees. It made it a hard job to choose the finalists and

Discover how grandparents in England and Wales can maintain connections with their grandchildren after family separations through legal avenues like mediation and court permissions, emphasising the importance of child welfare for preserving essential family bonds.
There is a special bond between a grandparent and a grandchild, one that can sometimes be affected when the relationship between the grandchild’s parents breaks down.
A difficult consequence of a family breakup can be grandparents losing contact with their grandchild, either due to one parent losing contact or a direct dispute between the grandparents and the parents.
Under the law in England and Wales, grandparents do not have automatic rights to be in the lives of their grandchildren, regardless of how close the relationship may have been. However, it can be extremely important to a child to know and maintain links with their extended maternal or paternal family. Grandparents who find themselves being denied access to their grandchild do have options.
If after sufficient attempts have been made to reach an agreement with the child’s parent, contact is still being denied, a grandparent can seek the help of a third party, such as a family mediator. Mediation is a useful step
as it allows the parties to discuss their issues and concerns freely and openly and often enables the parties to move forward in an amicable manner. The court will also expect the parties to attempt mediation before making any application. Sadly though, conflicts are not always easily resolved, and a parent can continue to deny access to the grandchild leaving a grandparent with no option but to seek an order for contact from the court.
The courts recognise the important and invaluable role that grandparents can play in the lives of grandchildren, but grandparents do not have an automatic right to apply for contact with their grandchildren. Unlike those who have parental responsibility, such as step-parents or guardians, a grandparent must first obtain the court’s permission to apply for a contact order in relation to their grandchild. The court’s paramount consideration is always the welfare of the child, and the court will weigh up the grandparent’s connection and role in the child’s life against any potential risk of disruption and harm the proposed
application might be cause to the child’s wellbeing.
Should the court grant the grandparent/s permission to apply, they can proceed with making an application for a Child Arrangements Order. The court process can be a lengthy process, with the court potentially seeking the input of the Children and Family Court Advisory and Support Service (CAFCASS) to assist them with making a final decision. The court have the power to order ‘live with’ orders, determine how much time a grandchild can spend with their grandparent/s, and also the type of contact that can occur.
If you are a grandparent who has been denied access to your grandchild, the prevention of contact can undoubtedly cause emotional distress to you and the grandchild. At Heald Solicitors we realise the importance grandparents can have in the lives of their grandchildren and are able to guide your through the process in a supportive and effective manner.

We’ve one foot into Spring now, and fashion demands we act like it with a wardrobe that wears the season on its sleeves.
As discussed (see a couple of columns ago), flowers are the thing to be seen in now – whether they come tumbling down trouser legs, wrapped about your neck or wrist (yes, I’m still talking about corsages), or are seen embedded into clothing via print and pattern.
They may not be ground-breaking for Spring-Summer, but florals, along with ruffles and elegant textures like tulle and silk, have arrived to make sure 2024’s style evolution is feminised – a trend that will carry us through to next year. Just see the elegant gowns with hand painted flowers at Givenchy and the fussy fabric flower heads appliquéd at Acne, for girly inspiration.
But anything in lace will do, a la the lilac lacey two pieces at Carolina Herrera; the white maxi dresses for lounging, seen at Michael Kors; the sheer brocades at Valentino and Stella McCartney; and all kinds of floral cutout skirts that grew in popularity across the catwalks.
More Little Miss Contrary than Miss Prissy? Look to Celine’s dramatic, black maxi sundresses, for a dark and romantic take on the trend. Else hint at the vibe with one of the lace-trim slips, crochet tops or broderie anglaise that have been unearthing around the high street. You don’t need pretty petals in pink to pull this one off.

The springtime vision of woodland floors transformed by a sea of bluebells is truly stunning.
The chink of early year sun dancing through the treetops and onto their delicate petals reminds us that better (and warmer!) days are ahead.
A leisurely stroll through the woods at any time of the year is good for the soul, but particularly when the bluebells are awake to welcome us – and they usually provide a display from late March to early May.
But how much do you really know about these charming little flowers?
You probably don’t realise just how fortunate we are in the UK – almost half the world’s bluebells are found here, and these dainty delights take their time to establish themselves; from seed to flower takes a colony between five and seven years.
to mix with the native species,” it said, “If you plant bluebells in your garden, make sure you’re planting the English bluebell, not the Spanish species.”
Telling the two species apart is relatively simple; “Native bluebells are usually a deep blue-violet shade, while Spanish ones tend to be paler. Confusingly, both varieties can also come in white and pink.”
If you take a trip out to see them in the next few weeks, enjoy them, but resist the urge to trample through them for a quick photo opportunity; when a bluebell’s leaves are crushed, they die back from the lack of food as they can no longer photosynthesise. Recovery can take years.
There are other problems too; The National Trust explains that our native Hyacinthoides non-scripta bluebells are under threat from the non-native Spanish bluebell which has been a resident in Britain since its introduction in the late 17th century.
“In the last 30 years the Spanish bluebell has escaped from gardens and has begun

Hybridization happens easily which can make telling them apart more of an issue! Natives also have a sweet scent, while the Spanish variety have little or no fragrance, and the leaves of the Spanish type are much larger.
Because of the length of time it takes them to reach flowering size, buying bulbs, as opposed to seeds, is best.
All parts of the plant are poisonous to us, our pooches, and horses and cattle, and with the bulbs appearing similar to spring onions or garlic, you really don’t want to confuse your supermarket and garden centre purchases!
The woodland plants thrive in partial shade with moist, well-drained soil. Adding leaf mould or garden compost will provide them with lots of nutrients, and be aware that planting in clumps beneath deciduous trees or shrubs will create the best environment for them.
And don’t even think of taking a few plants from your local woods. Bluebells are protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act of 1981, and it is against the law to pick, uproot or destroy them.
Leave them to flourish and cheer visitors to our open spaces with their prettiness.
In Milton Keynes, bluebells can be enjoyed at any of the three ancient woodlands, which are cared for by The Parks Trust; enjoy a springtime walk at Howe Park Wood, Shenley Wood and Linford Wood, and take in the bluebells, and all of the delights of these living historic spaces.

With over 35 years experience designing bathrooms, the team at Ripples understands that the process can sometimes be daunting. Its designers are experts on all aspects of bathrooms and here, Designer Erin White from the award nominated Ripples showroom in Towcester answers some of the most commonly asked bathroom-related questions.
QWith Pinterest, Instagram, and other great tools, can’t I just design my bathroom myself? Do I really need a bathroom designer?
Although there are a lot of great tools out there to give you style inspiration these days, there are so many other things to be considered when designing a bathroom. Considerations around plumbing, electrics and room layout are best handled by a professional. If you are anything like me, you will have a lot of images on your Pinterest boards or magazine collection, encompassing a number of different styles. A Ripples designer can work with you to narrow down your choices, incorporating your inspiration into one cohesive scheme. Designers can also take the stress out of sourcing all of the product for your space, using their specialist knowledge to find the
products which will work best for you. This will give you more time to focus on the more fun parts of your project!
Q What lighting do I need in a bathroom?
The first level of lighting needed for all bathrooms will be either downlights or a central light. This is controlled by one switch and gives you the overall lighting needed for general use and cleaning. The next level of lighting is task lighting. This could include lighting within your mirror or wall lights either side of the mirror. Wherever possible, go for side rather than top lighting to give a good overall lighting with minimal shadows – perfect for getting ready on dark winter mornings. The next level of lighting to consider is mood lighting. Low level lighting is key in a bathroom especially one with a bath or in an en-suite. This can be incorporated in soft spot lighting or strip lighting on top of recesses, by a bath or underneath a vanity unit. Having this on a separate switch means early mornings, late nights and even any middle-of-the-night trips to the bathroom are not disturbed by bright lights coming on. In a family bathroom, you may also want to consider a PIR (passive infrared) sensor. As children get older, they can then go into the bathroom at night on their own and lights will automatically come on.
Q
What are some quick tips for creating a more eco-friendly bathroom?
Heating: opt for dual fuel heating as this can dramatically reduce energy usage in your home. You can control dual fuel radiators with a timer and use heated towel rails to heat the bathroom, without having to heat the rest of the home.
Lighting: LED spotlights and feature lighting use approximately 85% less energy than traditional bulbs.
Extractor fans: choosing an extractor fan with a built-in timer and/or humidity sensor will use less energy as it switches off when not in use.
Surfaces: glass surfaces are one of the greenest options available as they can keep being recycled again and again.
Cold-start taps: cold-start taps are normal mixer taps which start running cold water first. These are great if you have a combi boiler as they don’t kick in unless you manually change the mixer across to hot.

Iain Stewart, MP for Milton Keynes South has been out and about in the area this month with visits to the West Bletchley Shed, Bus Shelter MK and St Paul’s Catholic School.
Ihope this article finds you safe and well. Last month, the Chancellor’s Spring Budget was presented to the House of Commons, and I welcome the Government’s announcements which will benefit the constituents of Milton Keynes South. I wanted to take this opportunity to update you with what I have been up to since I last wrote.
I met with the West Bletchley Shed at their premises in Rickley Park to learn more about what they do. The group of men and women meet on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings to apply their DIY and handiwork skills to undertake a range of community-based projects that will benefit organisations in West Bletchley as well as Milton Keynes. It was great to see first-hand some of the work they have done and are currently undergoing. Following this meeting, I have contacted the local council about the possibility of West Bletchley Shed having a bigger space to grow their activities.
Also, I met with Bus Shelter MK and Homeless Link with Ben Everitt MP and Johnny Luk, the Prospective Conservative Parliamentary Candidates for Milton Keynes Central. It was an opportunity for us to discuss homelessness, rough sleeping and it being a priority for the next Government. Whilst I welcome the additional funding from the Government to tackle rough sleeping and homelessness in Milton Keynes, I acknowledge more needs to be done because one person sleeping rough or being homeless is one too many.
It was lovely to visit St Paul’s Catholic School to meet with their Year 12 politics students, student leaders and the student council. It was a chance for me to talk about my role as an MP, the UK Government and democracy. Following this, the students asked a range of questions in a Q&A session which I enjoyed answering.
I am delighted the Government has launched the Pharmacy First approach, using the skills of our pharmacists to treat more people in the community without the need for a GP appointment – speeding up their own care as well as reducing pressure on local GP services. At least 147 of pharmacies have signed up to Pharmacy First across Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes ensuring that the local people can access care. The pandemic put huge pressure on our NHS services here in Milton Keynes and as we continue with our recovery, it is essential that patients receive the care they need quickly and easily.
As always, if my office or I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to get in touch on the contact details provided below.
Some bus routes in MK are at risk of being withdrawn due to very low passenger numbers.
If you don’t want this to happen, then use the buses when you can. If enough people ride, we’ll be able to keep the route running. It’s that simple!
One of my most favourite albums ever is The Day The Country Died, writes Sammy Jones I was a little too young to be exposed to it when it first came out, but when I discovered it during the late 1980s, the influence of this gnarly punk produce was colossal.
In 2024 it is still played here as frequently as it ever was. It’s a masterpiece on so many levels, and there were others; From The Cradle to the Grave was every bit as brilliant. The band responsible, anarcho-punks Subhumans are right up there when it comes to my most influential.
Subhumans shaped my childhood, and were the antithesis of the sanitised pop my peers were listening to.
Heck, I even centred one of my school drama projects around one of their songs!
Culture Shock followed from the ashes of Subhumans, and their gigs at the still-missed Countapoint Club in Bletchley are etched into the memory of all us new city folks who were lucky enough to remember them.
Awesome times where friendships were forged and the grey matter expanded.
All of this is a long way to tell you that the Wiltshire mob will be live on The Craufurd Arms stage on Wednesday, April 3.
If punk is your thing, you can’t afford to miss this.
Depeche Mode fans can revel in the output of Dave Gahan and Co. with the tribute mob, The Devout (April 5). They’ll take you back to the early days of Speak & Spell and right the way through their catalogue, with fan favourites, singles and deep album cuts.
If you Just Can’t Get Enough, at least this bash will go a long way towards satisfying your Depeche cravings.
MK risers Cusp (April 6), led by talented singer-songwriter Dan Stock, are more than a bit good at delivering top-tier tunes, whether they be festival-ready anthems, intimate ballads, or classic, melodic pop rock songs.
Fans? They have plenty, including Noel Gallagher. They’ve taken up some meaty tour offers too; with DMA’s, The Snuts, Corella and Red Rum Club.
In the coming months, it’s all about continuing to ‘set out their clear vision of how guitar music can still feel familiar and brand new at the same time.’
Soul men Smoove & Turrell (April 12) come out to play with seven albums worth of produce from which to pull from. The Jazz FM favourites are 15 years deep in a career of plenty, with their most recent album, Red Ellen, matching the uplifting intensity of the dancefloor anthems with the emotional sway of slower offerings.
Copies of their first single, I Can’t Give You Up have changed hands for around £160. It was recorded at keyboardist Mike Porter’s house – his Hammond Organ was ‘immovably wedged in the utility room,’ making it difficult to do anything else, and
apparently, if you listen in to that original 7 inch recording, you can hear his mum pulling a pack of peas from the freezer. Completely irrelevant when writing about the Crauf show, but we like the little tale.
A few years ago, we were writing about RavenEye playing at the venue. There was a real buzz around the Oli Brown fronted rock trio, and they were hoisted into the spotlight with some major support; a tour with Kiss is about as good as it gets, and they were supplemented by stage-shares with Deep Purple and Aerosmith. But the band later floundered with Oli admitting, ‘it just didn’t work out.’
“When I started writing my next collection of songs, I had no idea what would come,” he said, “My subconscious was about to make me more aware of what was happening in my mental health than my consciousness. I realised these songs would quickly take on a more significant meaning to my life,” Oli said, explaining the journey between then and now.
“After a series of traumatic experiences, which led to extensive therapy, I put the fragmented pieces into these new song lyrics. As I began to rebuild my foundations, for the first time as a singer, I could utilise the synergy between my heart and my voice, connecting the performance, expression, and vulnerability of the lyrics with brutal honesty. This is no longer about performing for the sake of performing; it’s a release of everything bottled in for too long, transformed into a monumental delivery,” Oli said.
And that delivery is now given as the leader with Oli Brown & The Dead Collective. As the accompanying PR states, ‘Out with the old, in with the dead.’
DJ Yoda (April 20) marks 50 Years of Hip Hop with an audio visual show on his first visit back in the new city for aeons. Tickets flew out, as expected.
Record Store Day is happening on April 20, and you’ll find more about MK’s involvement in that over the page, but you can never have too much music, as our boxes of vinyl and racks of CDs testify, so the return of the Craufurd Record Fair (April 21) will be welcomed.
The last fair, at the start of the year, was bustling with eager beavers keen to get amongst the sounds, with the bar and the venue room being taken over by traders. Go have some fun and spend a few quid.
outlet, Richard McNamara is guitarist (and a bit more) with the mighty Embrace, the band he co-founded with his brother, frontman Danny.
Having been seen out on the road with the mighty Peter Frampton who invited them to join him on his farewell road trip, Cardinal Black (April 25) had it all going on – tours with Myles Kennedy and The Struts, and the buzz of an apiary surrounding them.
Steve Winwood offered them to record at his personal studio, and riding the wave of success, they then decamped Stateside to work on their debut album, but they struggled to adapt and frontman Tom Hollister called time on the band before coming home to the UK.
Yorkshire duo Eevah (April 23) promise lo-fi gadgetry and happy/sad anthems when they pull up for their date, which is part of their debut headline road trek, the Simplify Life tour.
Not that this couple of creators are green and new to the game; when he’s not busy with this
“We tried to do the acrimonious split; creative differences and all that. We then quickly realised we were fairly reliant on one another,” says Chris Buck. And so they are back, and doing great, and later this year they head to the big smoke to headline the Shepherd’s Bush Empire.
Enjoy the more intimate Wolverton show.
When Millie Manders & The Shutup (April 27) play the penultimate date of their Angry Side tour at the venue, they will release their trademark grinding guitars, irresistible horns and pop appeal for the assembled.
Candid lyrics deal with themes from betrayal and anxiety through to environmental concerns and political unrest, and they walk it like they talk it; with sustainability and charity at the forefront of what they do. Big respect to these cross-genre punk players.
CJ Wildheart (April 28) steps into the spotlight with his solo band, in support of the current album, SPLiT, which was issued late last year. He’ll erm split the set too, between the old and new. Speaking about the show he said: “I promise to keep it punk, up and anthemic.”
Recently announced shows by Creeper and Karnivool flew out, so dilly-dally and you’ll miss out.

MK’s own prog-rock heroes with the national appeal are back on home turf this month.
Solstice have enjoyed a real resurgence in recent years, which has also seen them deliver some of their best ever music through the albums Sia and Light Up. Not bad for a band that is closing in on its forty-fifth anniversary!
In 2023, aside from issuing Light Up, they pushed their sounds live in The Netherlands and Norway, were gold at Glastonbury, and a real highlight was a long overdue return to The Cropedy Festival, playing to an audience of thousands.
They did just swell in the Readers’ Poll of Prog Magazine at the start of 2024, landing in 5th place for Best Band, singer Jess Holland hitting
Also at MK11 this month, Tankus The Henge will make their return.
Their funk-fuelled repertoire is wildly eclectic, ranging from New Orleans inspired swing to heavy rock riffs, and since their beginnings in the ratty alleyways of London’s Soho, they have evolved into a wild groove machine.
Anticipation is growing for the show on April 11, and they really do bang the good stuff, with inspiration pulled from the British invasion of the 60s along with artists including Tom Waits, Blur, Randy Newman and QOTSA. They also take the pages of the Beat Generation and Gonzo journalism for creative stimulation.
‘Like a psychedelic, rock n roll octopus – only with more legs,’ is the promise of their live show.
“It reminds me of a mixture of early Kinks, Squeeze and a bit of Blur mashed in...I love it,” said Kinks man Dave Davies. Praise indeed, right?
Tickets for this date, part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of their debut album, are on sale at £19.50.
the third third spot for Best Vocalist (just two places behind some fella called Peter Gabriel!) and guitarist and band founder Andy Glass was only beaten to the top place for his fret-feeling work by Steve Rothery from Marillion.
Late last year, they celebrated another milestone, headlining The Stables at Wavendon.
“We were blown away when the tickets started rolling out, and selling it out was an absolute dream come true,” Andy said, “The gig was really quite emotional for me,” Andy said.
The next opportunity to see the band live locally happens on April 20 when they stagestep at MK11 in Kiln Farm.
It’s a family affair for Solstice too, with Ocular – featuring Andy’s son Laurie in the ranksopening up the night.
This gig is in aid of Willen Hospice, so if you can splash some extra pennies and pounds, please do.
> Tickets are £15. Tappety tap to mk11kilnfarm.com

Solstice will also play:

If you’ve never before had the pleasure, Tom Robinson considers The Undercover Hippy to be ‘like the love-child of Steel Pulse, Kate Tempest and The Sleaford Mods.’
The Undercover Hippy (aka Drum & Bass MC turned singer-songwriter Billy Rowan) brings together powerful messages, infectious reggae rhythms, and a fast paced lyrical delivery.
If you want to practice playing statues while nursing a pint at a gig, this ain’t the date for you. On the other hand, if you want to cut loose and dance free while having your grey matter tickled, roll up!
‘Music for the thinking person to shake their arse to,’ says the PR, and if you want to connect right away, go search for a copy of their latest album, Poor Little England No wishy-washy lyricisms here, rather a promise that it covers topics from ‘... Brexit, Covid conspiracies and the rise of populist politics, to new age sex pests and the dangers of raving in your 40’s.’
The Gimme More Tour ‘24 wraps up at the Kiln Farm haunt on April 28.

The 17th annual celebration of the UK’s independent record shops is go on Saturday, April 20 with 100s of artists issuing special Record Store Day releases – and for the first time, Milton Keynes will be partaking, which is fab news for vinyl junkies.
There really is something for everyone with records spanning rock, pop, jazz, hip hop, reggae, classical and folk.
Limited releases by Blur, At The Gates, Billy Bragg, Bowie, Fatboy Slim, George Harrison, Jessie Ware, Ladytron, Little Richard, Motley Crue, PiL, Pulp, Ringo Starr, Sia, Steven Wilson and The 1975 will be among this year’s wish list.
You want more? The Rolling Stones, The Verve, The Yardbirds, Thin Lizzy, Tom Grennan and Zappa will all figure too. Like we said, eclectic and something for all.
Of particular interest to some new city folk will be the seven inch single, Twist & Shout by 60’s hit makers Brian Poole & The Tremeloes. Their cover of the much-loved track became one of their best known hits. Brian, of course, is a long time resident of Milton Keynes.
This is the first time it has been pressed on 7” vinyl since its release back in 1963, and it will be in beautiful clear vinyl.
Artists, labels and stores on every continent have signed up for the event which champions the unique culture of indie shops and the music fans’ love of vinyl.
Well, when we say every continent, that’s not strictly true – Antarctica isn’t partaking. It’s a wee bit parky over there to be queuing for that
In all, some 270 stores from around the UK have signed up, with many using the event to hold special live sets, giveaways and general merriment – and for the first time, Milton Keynes is getting in on the action.
As regular Pulse Music readers will know already, Off The Record in Midsummer Place is a charity store selling pre-loved music and music memorabilia to swell funds for Willen Hospice.
It is also the only charity shop in the UK taking part. Obviously, they are thrilled to be in the groove for this year’s event, which will see them celebrate with limited releases, 100s will be available.
“It’s incredibly exciting and we’re proud to be the first charity shop to take part. It shows the success of the shop and how much it has grown in the 18 months that we have been open,” said Sandy Bell-Ashe, one of five team leaders.
Sandy has been working on bringing RSD to the new city for the past year, and is thrilled to have pulled off the coup – not least as he is a vinyl collector himself. He caught the bug as a 10-year-old: “Vinyl is a ritual for me,” he told Pulse Music, “Vinyl has a nicer, more organic sound, and when you put an album on, you listen to the whole thing. You don’t do that when you download or stream. The artwork is an important part of a release too,” said Sandy.
“Organising everything has been a massive challenge, but it’s a team effort. There are more than 20 people who give their time to the shop, and everyone has been involved. We are all very, very excited!”
The store will open its doors at 8am, and will celebrate the special day with live music between 10am and 5pm. Those appearing include The Fabulous Miss Jones Trio, rapper X-IT, guitarist Maurice and Melody Woman Off The Record is doing a fab job of swelling the coffers for Willen Hospice, and donating your unwanted vinyl will help them to keep raising the green stuff. If you’ve got a box of the black stuff and you don’t want it, please donate and make a difference.
One of those records which made a big difference for the charity was a copy of Nick Drake’s debut album, Five Leaves Left. That sold online for just less than £1000!
Those RSD releases will be much more affordable. Reach for your plastic pals –every time you treat yourselves, you’ll be helping another.
Kev Hickman is a dedicated fella, and the drummer about town’s hard work and hard hitting has been paying dividends – he’s made it into the Top 5 shortlist for Instrumentalist of the Year in the UK Blues Awards.
Furthermore, our Kev is the first ever drummer to be nominated in that category, which already makes him a winner in our book!
“It’s an honour to have been nominated in the top five of Instrumentalist Of The Year next to some fantastic,
well-established names. I’m also very proud to be the first drummer ever to make the top five of this list,” he told Pulse Music.
Kev – who is also a director at the Rhythm Room Music School here in the new city – will be back at Wavendon venue The Stables this October, with blues, soul and funk singer Alice Armstrong.
The Blues Awards will take place on April 25, again at The Stables

It promises one lamp, three wishes and infinite possibilities, and this April, Milton Keynes Theatre invites everyone to revel in the wonder of Disney’s breathtaking spectacle, Aladdin
The magic carpet will touch down for a month-long stay in the new city from April 24.
The exuberant production features iconic music by Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice, truly making it a ‘sound’ proposition as much as a visual spectacular!
Superstar composer Alan has accrued a terrific number of accolades for his work on Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid and the film version of Aladdin
“It’s always been a dream of mine to somehow restore the telling of Aladdin the way Howard Ashman and I first envisioned it, and how we wrote it,” Alan said, “The Disney film version is a dazzling action-adventure tale with great animation effects and a handful of songs, some with lyrics by Howard and some by the great Sir Tim Rice. But the original concept that Howard first pitched was a tribute to those old Bob Hope–Bing Crosby ‘Road’ pictures, almost a satire of that kind of Hollywood romantic comedy. And it was also meant to be a celebration of the jazz of the 1930s and ’40s, particularly the music of such breakout stars of the era as Fats Waller and Cab Calloway.”
Alan recalled: “They came to me with a script based closely on the movie. It would have been fine, but it wasn’t the musicalcomedy homage to popular jazz-era movies that Howard and I first proposed. “So I said, ‘Look, I have a whole treasure trove of existing material that was never used, songs for the main characters and characters that were eliminated in the film, including Aladdin’s three sidekicks, Babkak, Omar and Kassim.’”
Chad Beguelin, who was writing the script, dug into Menken’s trunk and came back with something altogether new.
“As we began to work, it became clear that we were going to need some new songs along with hits from the film and songs that were written but never used,” Alan said, “So I suggested that Chad write the lyrics, since he was writing the new libretto and was already an accomplished, Tony- nominated lyricist in his own right. Chad was absolutely terrific at creating new songs that fit perfectly with those Howard, Tim and I had written for the film.”
So when Thomas Schumacher, president and producer of Disney Theatrical, told Menken he was putting together a script of Aladdin to license to amateur theatrical groups, the multiple Oscar-winning musician saw an opportunity to revisit the roots of the Aladdin project.
“Remember, this was years before we even considered developing Aladdin for Broadway,” says Schumacher. “I thought Alan would be way too busy to get involved with our little licensing project, but he really wanted to do it.”
> Other Disney animated features that Alan wrote the music for include Pocahontas, The Hunchback of Notre Dame, and Tangled
> Along with Howard Ashman, Alan also penned the music for the stage show Little Shop of Horrors
> With his eight Academy Award wins, Menken is the second most prolific Oscar winner in a music category and currently holds the record for the most Oscar wins of a living person.
For Alan, the journey proved deeply personal, because his beloved musical partner, Howard Ashman, died before the score was complete. He is particularly grateful to have restored ‘Proud of Your Boy’, a song for Aladdin to sing to his fretful mother. “It was the hardest thing to lose from the film,” Alan admitted, “and not just because the song was lost – I’ve lost a lot of songs in my career – but because we had also lost Howard. That song packs an enormous emotional punch, and men in particular seem to relate to it deeply. So many of us go through a phase when we are disappointing our parents, or we think we are.
“I’m delighted to have had a hand in reshaping Aladdin. I love the show and all the music. But I am especially happy that Howard’s poignant ‘Proud of Your Boy’ once again has pride of place in the story of a boy who finally became all that a mother could wish for in a son.”
Disney’s Aladdin plays at Milton Keynes Theatre, April 24 – May 19. Make your wishes come true. Book at : atgtickets.com/miltonkeynes
Dino’s and spooky shows, and a magic lamp and the Godfather of Punk Poetry. You want variety? Sammy Jones talks you through lots of it with a peek behind the curtain at April’s theatre opportunities...
You’ll get chills, and they’ll probably start multiplying at Milton Keynes Theatre this month, but it won’t have anything to do with the students of Rydell High. In fact, April’s first play to devour is thrilling, exciting and fear inducing all rolled into a package known as The Woman in Black (April 2-6).
Susan Hill’s chilling ghost story is horrifyingly good – and more than seven million ticket sales prove the point.
Arthur Kipps is obsessed with a curse he believes has been cast over him and his family by the spectre of a Woman in Black, so he engages a sceptical young actor to help him tell his terrifying story and exorcise the fear that grips his soul...
Following the success of the original play, Cluedo returns to the new city stage this month, with Cluedo 2 – The Next Chapter (April 16-20). It’s an entirely new story, set in the 1960s, featuring The Honourable Mrs. Emerald Peacock, Colonel Eugene Mustard, ‘Professor’ Alex Plum, Miss Annabel Scarlett, ‘The Reverend’ Hal Green and the housekeeper Mrs White.
Those who have penned the piece are pedigree players too – BAFTA Award winning TV writing duo Laurence Marks and Maurice Gran have had plenty of previous winners; Birds of a Feather and Dreamboats and Petticoats are two of their successes.
‘As the bodies pile up and our infamous colourful characters dart from room to room trying to escape the murderer and survive the night, Cluedo 2, will keep you guessing right up to the finale and invites budding detectives of
all ages to watch for the clues and unravel the secrets, as they try to work out whodunnit… with what… and where!
Jason Burr (Hearbeat and Casualty) and Corrie actress Helen Flanagan will lead the casting, as Colonel Mustard and Miss Scarlett.
“If you’re a fan of the much loved board game – you’re gonna enjoy this! If you enjoyed the hysterical first play – you’re gonna love this one!” promise those behind the piece, “And if you missed the first play it doesn’t matter – this is a brand new story – so come and have some funyou’ll love it too!”
Now, what has one lamp, three wishes and infinite possibilities? If you are shouting, ‘Disney spectacular Aladdin’ into these pages, you’d be correct – and it flies into town on a magic carpet for a month-long stay (April 24 – May 19).
Aladdin is the 10th highest grossing Broadway production of all time, which is an amazing achievement.
This terrific tale with a truly wonderful score is guaranteed to transport viewers to A Whole New World - but ideally only those aged six years and up. Children under three years old won’t be admitted.
A monstrous time is a given over at The Stables with the return of Teach Rex Live and The Velociraptor Show (April 11) promising a roar-some time for half term.
In one snappy, action-packed hour long session, children will learn about the anatomy and life of this most mesmerizing creature who walked the earth before us.
And they’ll be able to get up close and personal, as realistic beasts roam around the audience!
>
Perfect for little ‘uns aged three and up, this show is every bit the hit with adults too.
There are a choice of three performances –visit the website for details.
Trail-blazing comedian Paul Foot presents Dissolve (April 19), a show he promises is his ‘most personal, surprising and groundbreaking’ to date.
Life is a stress: full of rushed breakfasts, angry people, internal conflict, and Jacob ReesMogg. But what happens when everything you thought was important – your problems, grievances against others, your very identity –simply disappears?
Paul will reveal how, in 2022, he discovered the secret of life.
We can’t leave The Stables behind without mentioning the British cult hero, and Godfather of Punk Poetry, John Cooper Clarke (April 22). If there are any tickets left as you read this, they definitely won’t stay in the box office for long.
A new stage adaptation of The Hound of the Baskervilles (April 15) shows at Stantonbury Theatre with one-time Tardis traveller Colin Baker and Terry Molloy (Radio star with The Archers) coming together to play Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson, followed, on April 20, by Morgan & West’s Massive Magic Show for Kids!
Gawps, gasps, and guffaws will be frequent in this fantastical magic filled extravaganza.

Idon’t how it happened. The title just came to me. County Wexford. It seemed so, right. A piece on the place would be silly, given the geographical readership of Pulse, so I had to think what to do.
First, I had to exorcise the demon that the title had become. The whereabouts of County Wexford had to be determined. It is part of Ireland. South eastern. At the bottom, around five o’clock. Assuming you are holding the map up the right way…
Having got that out of the way, it had me thinking of where we reside in relation to everywhere else in the world. It occurred to me that there are other places far away from Pulseland. One of them is the United States of America. Another is Canada. Looking at a map to confirm that I hadn’t made the names up after a heavy night out, I realised that we live at a latitude only slightly south of the majority of the border between those two countries! New York city is 370 miles almost due south of Montreal and ‘only’ 333 miles from the US/Canadian border; at a point where it dips south after being interfered with by the Great Lakes on its passage from east to west. Said border, at that particular spot, is barely 100 miles up from the northern coast of Spain.
Remind me of the last time we had snow as bad as the winter storms we hear of in New York; a city about 80 miles south of Rome when talking in terms of latitude and distance from the North Pole.
Having blown my mind looking westwards, I turned my attention to the east.
The northern-most tip of Mongolia is about seven miles south of Northampton. The capital of Mongolia, Ulaanbaatar (award yourself lots of points if you knew the
name), is a touch more northerly than the very top of Switzerland. Closer to home, but still far away, lies Warsaw, Poland; a cold city in a cold country during winter. It sits somewhere between Northampton and Milton Keynes.
Considering how close those places are to the North Pole compared to Pulseland, it never ceases to amaze me how we are never buried under deep snowdrifts for months on end. Gardeners complain when temperatures hit freezing and scream about disaster when minus 10 degrees Celsius is experienced. However, think of those poor Mongolian gardeners who have to contend with temperatures approaching -30 degrees Celsius.
... it never ceases to amaze me how we are never buried under deep snowdrifts for months on end.
Why are we seemingly blessed with rather more temperate weather than those who are located more southernly than ourselves? It all gets rather technical and terms like Gulf Stream are mentioned. In short, our prevailing weather comes from the direction of the Caribbean. As an island nation, those of us in Milton Keynes, North Buckinghamshire, Northamptonshire and Bedfordshire, benefit from relatively close proximity to the warming waters originating from the area of the Gulf of Mexico.
And on its way to us, it bathes County Wexford in Ireland…
Phil O’HaraFlavour of the Times - Suddenly, you’re exchanging a bicycle for a Ferrari! This month surges forward like a rocket with six planets in Aries, radiating intense energy. Therefore, I believe we’re on the brink of an unprecedented surge of passionate revolt, affecting both the social and political spheres. On a personal level, it feels as though suppressed emotions are bursting forth more fiercely than ever. Proceeding with caution might prove quite challenging, yet mastering this turbulent phase could lead to a period of calm. This tranquility is anticipated to arrive by the full moon at April’s close, particularly when the sun enters Taurus on the 24th. That is, assuming the Ferrari remains unscathed in the process!
March 21 – April 20
This month certainly make up for the sluggishness of March, that’s for sure! Your own fire may burst into life at the spring new moon on 8th but there could well be personal pain behind it, so you should pay attention. It is all a bit furious out there but the fire can be controlled and directed, which is what I would strongly advise for you.
April 21 – May 21
Taureans are people of tradition, but this month, traditional approaches are not favoured for you. While you don’t usually mind working within certain limitations, you may feel unduly restricted. You might wish to protest against elements of inhumanity and unfairness. A sense of freedom in what you do becomes crucial.
May 22 – June 21
Frustrations abound this month, boundaries are shifting and anger may be erupting. Banging your head against a brick wall is never a good idea, especially when you can’t see where the enemy is. This eases after the full moon on the 24th of the month when you can start to come down to earth again.
June 22 – July 23
This fiery Aries energy goes very much against your instincts, but this is not the time to fight against it. You will probably see that the rage and anger comes from deep hurt and perhaps you can help people to heal and understand. Talking therapies will no doubt help in this situation. The full moon on the 24th is grounding, if intense, but much will be revealed.
July 24 – August 23
If ever leadership was required, it is now. The sense of rebellion lacks direction, and perhaps you are able to contribute to helping people find purpose out of the anger. Do not be afraid to offer radical solutions at this time. Others may not see things as clearly as you do, but in time, your wisdom will become appreciated.
August 24 – September 23
As furious confusion reigns this month, you, perhaps more than others, are able to take practical steps to use constructively the angry energies that are being unleashed. However, your capacity to create order out of this potent fire energy is likely to be limited and your ability to rise above the conflict restricted. Look for small victories and work with those.
September 24 – October 23
If your sense of injustice is spilling over now, this is the month to gather support to fight for better times. These are radical days and we may look back on them as being the start of a time of spectacular change. Your skills at working with people will be in demand as old traditional boundaries collapse to make space for the future.
October 24 – November 22
The full moon on the 24th is in your sign after what could be a month of uprisings and emotional outbursts. You may feel these very deeply, but at least you are capable of surviving the onslaught and digging deep into your personal survival resources. There are opportunities here to make changes that last in your personal life.
You are bound to be affected personally by some, if not all, of the massive changes taking place this year. Not everyone will be equally affected on a personal level, but you will certainly feel it if you are an Aquarius, Leo, Scorpio, or Taurus.
An astrological reading of your birth chart can help you understand how these changes might affect you. To really understand what they mean for you during 2024, I would recommend that you consider booking a comprehensive personal astrological consultation with me. This is completely specific to
November 23 – December 22
The Aries fire may feel so hot this month that you may be tempted to escape from the kitchen! It’s a time when the pent-up desire for freedom from injustice can easily decline into anarchy. If you have something important to say, reflect carefully. Try to preach humane truths as words can wound and people are very sensitive these days.
December 23 – January 20
Your sense of order and careful progress may feel completely undermined this month by the furious energy that Aries brings. There is a huge need for people around you to vent their frustrations and this will get in the way of progressing the things you hold dear. This will ease after the full moon at the end of the month.
January 21 – February 19
Revolutionary thoughts often lead to warlike actions. Paradoxically, you may find this more difficult than you expected. The reactions of many people may seem to you to be irrational and over emotional, so it is up to you to provide a more detached perspective. Whether anyone is listening at the moment, though, is debatable.
February 20 – March 20
The floodgates may be opening this month and emotions are very much to the fore for you. It may feel as if a dam is bursting inside you. A break with the past becomes inescapable, and somehow you must learn how to let go and move on. Give yourself some time to reflect, away from some of the pressures you have been under.
